And, to quench the fire before it even begins...it does not mean that Beaver is on steroids (or juiced), just that he was much better than Kmic.

Thanks for clearing the air for me!...You're are absolutley right, that is all it means..just an expression.

Considering all the hoopla about Justin Beaver, how amazing is it Nate Kmic has over 5000 yards as a Junior and hardly played during the regular season of his Freshman year?  Nate's per carry average is significantly higher, his losses are lower and he has done it with much less playing time.

and before anybody posts it, I remember that Beaver missed part of last season.

On this day, an amazing young man will be awarded the highest honor in D3 football.  This "hoopla about Justin," is credit given to a completely deserving student -athlete.  Did you read the article on the front page?  I would suggest humbly and sincerely that maybe for this day, there could be a moratorium on the, "whose got the better running back," talk.  This day is about Beaver.  Kmic is very talented and his time will come.

Quote from a Capital Defensive star whose played agaisnt both; "Beaver was like Kmic on Steroids." Went on to say, Mount as a team....much better.

Don't shoot the messenger!

kickerdad--

I don't completely agree with you.

Yes there are some athletes that can play at another level that play Div. III ball.  But to say that Mount is head and shoulders above the rest of the programs in the nation on sheer talent at the D3 level(I think that is what you are saying), I don't know if I'm all the way in agreement with you.   I think there are a few other teams in the nation at or close to the same level and still others that probably have a small handful of better athletes.  I think MUC is head and shoulders of the rest because the athletes are products of an amazing system.

While there is no doubt there is a very high talent level at MUC, to say that they have the best athletes in the country, I am not in total agreement.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this...

I  agree. But they are more talented than most. But I don't think you can assume they always have the best player at every position, which some do, cause less face it, whoever they're RB is, he's going to shine. They're a machine and its often hard to tell who's ultra talented and who is simply plugged into it. I don't know much beyond the OAC, and I know Mount has the most talent, but surely not all of it and not always the best; def. the most though. I'd guess there are teams outside of the conference with simlar talent, just less developed programs.

to chime in on the Mount vs. 1-aa topic.

mount would not match up well at all against the scholarship programs and get killed by the likes of Younstown and App State. etc.  but I firmly beleive they would compete for the title of any of the non-scholarship conferences.. I'd say the same goes for other top notch D3 programs. i see little difference between d3 and non-scholarship 1-aa

Oh, Capital, if only they could've been in the non-mount bracket in '05 or '06.

My outlook on the future is bright tho!

The deffense will reload, their coaches on D have an uncanny way of developong players.

Offensivley, they will adjust well to whatever their strengths are, Collins has proven to so in the past couple of years. I just wish the stable of running backs they had the past couple of years was a little more spread out through the classes as they obviously look pretty thin there.

Mount gains nearly nothing from scheduling up.

A challenge....or is that simply not something LK or players that go to Mount are interested in?

I have to think if Cap takes care of business against the fish and flaming pile they get into the NCAA.  If they trip up only Mount goes.  Thoughts.

IMO they got in in '05 because they're losses were early in the season and by playof time they had proved to be undoubtedly deserving.  I think the losses were too late in the season this time around for them to make a simlilar statement. Not to mention the wins they had were over a couple very good teams. I don't think they have those under their belt either this year.  But by the nuymbers, why not? 8-2=8-2. I personlly think the 2nd place OAC tem should make regardless of record.

derrick alexander from capital is another potential offensive player of the year.

to say that alexander is much better than lewis howes, is quite a stretch!

I don't think Northern is as good as last year.  I think Capital is just as good if not better than last year but in different ways; like the running game not being as strong but the air attack being much more explosive....I don't think anyone will challenge Mount but Capital.

Some of Garcon's teammates shared with me that they thought he would have a reasonable chance to play at the next level after his days at Mount Union.

Thanks for the correction...Mount it is.  Any pro scouts looking at Jorris?

Scouts at mount games are more than likley watching Garcon and not the guy throwing him the ball.

Now that we're a couple of games in..it sure looks like MU is unbeatable.  Can Capital or Ohio Northern stay with the Raiders?
not sure about northern, but cap can definently run with mount. should be a great game! ::)

I can see tons of OAC defensive coordinators challenging their charges not to get beat by a "pretty boy", unfortunately for them that "pretty boy" is quite a talented running back surrounded by plenty of other talented players.
are you talking about Mulkey or Rocky...lol

It was talked about a couple of weeks ago on here, but in the current edition of PLayboy(Girls of the Big 12) Capital RB/track star Jeremy Mulkey is feautred in some section about campus fashions on page 104.  The text about him is as follows.

"The majority of male students skulking around campus in sweatpants are not athletes. They're just lazy.  Although we're not calling for an NBA-style dress code, we think you should put some thought into your appearance.  Dress to be the person you are: For a student athlete like JEREMY, a football player and track star, activewear is practical.  He can run from class to practice to class to the weight room and still look good en route.  His track jacket($78) and pants($80) are by SEAN JOHN.  HER: The jacket ($95) is by FRED PERRY.  Her jumpsuit is by BABY PHAT by KIMORA LEE SIMMONS."

You guys thought I was Kidding!

Capital Update.
Big things expected from WR Derek Alexander.

I heard Alexander ran a 4.15 forty!

I guess I set myself up for that one!
it was actually a 4 flat though!
