Too bad Beaver had cramps...

Maybe you should get the boy some Midol?

As much as I'd hate to admit it.........that was pretty funny.
I agree that was a great come back Duffman!!!

Football is a team sport.  QB's rely on their WR's and RB's rely on their O-lines and visa versa.  Records are an inexact science.  It is comparing apples and oranges but it is the only adequate measuring stick we have.  Justin Beaver earned the right to be the starting RB on the Warhawks two-time National Runner-Up teams and holds the record for most yards run in a single season in NCAA history at any level!!!!!   He now has broken the UWW and WIAC career rushing records and did it with missing one season and 5 games in another because of injury and still has most of his senior season to go!  I don't care how good his o-line has been, (and yes, they were and are good,) those are amazing accomplishments!
Now don't jump all over me for bringing this up but Beaver has had two years of playoff games that pretty much adds up to an additional season.

This game will not be close unless EC can throw the ball effectively, and if they are anything like EC of the past 3-4 years they wont be able to do this.
Last week they only threw the ball twice in the 2nd half.  With the starting QB down they must not feel to comfortable throwing.

It shocks me to still see people questioning Justin Beaver.  How can you argue with 2420 as a junior in 14 games and 1369 in 10 games as a senior, by the way his senior year he came back from a broken collarbone in 4 weeks, to rush for 227 yards against the second best team in our conference.  The RB from osh kosh and Beaver arent in the same ball park.  Smell that
Do you smart guys ever come to think that maybe the OLine from UWW looks as good as the do or did because of Beaver? Its not hard to block for a guy like Beaver trust ME on that one, he makes anybody look good not the other way around.  So J44 buy a clue and go watch a game.
I think what people are trying to say is Beaver has had the benefit of playing behind one of the better O-Lines in the country and one of the better offensives the past two years.  I went and looked at the Stats from the games Beaver sat out and except the Mary-Hardin game WW didn't miss a beat in the rushing game.  It also looked like to me the average yds. per carry by the leading rusher was actually higher than Beavers previous games.

Warhawk and Sakman

I went back and and looked at the post in response to Goo62 and no where in the post was I bashing Beaver.  I just made a point that even when Beaver was out the running game continued to have success.  I would have no clue if Wurth was a better back than Beaver because I have never seen Wurth play.

Solid. My football instinct tells me that this was a major learning experince for the lads in Purple and some pent up frustrations just might be taken out in this weeks "real season" opener. Go Hawks.

That's the beauty of being arm chair QB's. 8) My guess is that EC is going to be in for a good dose of Warhawk wuppin. Go Hawks !!

Enough with the finger-pointing, please.  It is counter productive!

Hey, I enjoy Monday morning analysis as much as the next guy and thought your observations below were good:

Thought the play calling was decent. Three issues, not negatives just observations. 1) SCSU has a soft zone defense so a few tight end down the seam passes may have helped get them on thier heals a bit. 2) Thought UWW went to the pass to early which helped the linebackes get in gaps considering Jones had no blind side protection after #75 went down. 3) Only questionable play calling was when UWW was on the 1. What about a play action, end around or some misdirection. It's good to thump your chest and say we are tougher than you but after the first two downs went a total of 1" they may have tried some misdirection.

Just making the point that Gifford and Wells don't need any piling on at this point, IMHO.  We're cool.  8)

Ditto of the older lads in purple, too (i.e. the coaching staff).  Some may scoff at the notion, but I'm sure it was a learning experience for them, also.  A strong wake-up call can do wonders for anyone.  But, lets not forget, EC comes to WW cruising at 3-0 and with renewed vigor and zest knowning, as the whole league does, that WW is beatable during the regular season.  That hasn't occurred for a long time.
I watched half of the EC / Alma game on the way up to St. Cloud.  Alma didn't look near as good with out last years QB.  EC's 3-0 might be a little misleading and I think they will have a tough time with WW this weekend.

To echo Farley's comment, the kick on the blocked field goal was a low line drive.  It was a good push by SCSU, but it didn't much matter--it would have been blocked at the line of scrimmage if another guy didn't get to it sooner.

What is the prevailing opinion on Danny Jones?  It looked like he threw a decent enough ball, but really didn't have much idea where it was headed.  He overthrew a bunch of deep balls and almost got a couple of his receivers killed with poorly placed throws.

Then again, his receivers didn't do much to help him, especially Jordan Wells who seemed to drop everything he touched in the first half.  The late drop in the end zone (to Gifford, I believe) was really a killer.

I'd guess the postgame stats will paint the picture of a pretty even game.  Beaver was a his usual great self, but most of his big plays came on draws after the Warhawks were relegated to primarily throwing the ball.  While I'd guess the yards were close to even, every mistake was made by UW-W and unfortunately every bad bounce went against them.

I'd imagine the Johnnies will see the Warhawks again this year--I just hope it's a return engagement to mid-Minnesota.  I expect to have a full game recap up at www.johnniefootball.com tomorrow morning.
From all the pre-season hype I thought Jones would have been alot better.  In this game he was probably average at best.  He was pressured much of the night and as you stated the receivers didn't always help him with a few dropped passes.
What about the defense?  I think the defense didn't look near as strong as last year without Kleppe in the middle.

What about Whitworth getting beat by Redland.  Think it will drop them out of the top 25?

See the front page.  I think the Wabash coach is trying to get some of the headlines away from Lloyd Carr.  Having the starting QB on the hands team to defend an onside kick.  He must have some good hands, but really, your starting QB??  Franklin must have been drooling at the sight of that.  What do you think 99?  Take a look at the front page.
Might be a costly win for Wabash.  I don't think I would want to be Carr this week.  Maybe last weeks game wasn't as big of an upset as everybody thought.

99, anything new in Rolla?
About 8 minutes left in 4th still 21-10 Rolla.  Rolla has the ball on the Stout 35 - 3rd down
Stout just stopped Rolla - takes over on downs on their own 26
Stout threw a long ball to the 25 - intercepted.  Rolla Ball.
