Not to get picky or to take anything away from the 03 IWU team, but in 03 Augie and Carthage tied IWU for the conference title with all having an 11-3 CCIW record.

Looks like my original all-conference picks were right on the mark for the most part.  Also, congrats to Kent Raymond for winning the MOP.  He had several great games this season.  Now hopefully Augie can represent the CCIW well and beat Carroll on Thursday night after Elmhurst got snubbed after just getting ranked 13th best in the country!

After catching up on posts from the last few days, it seems Coach Giovanine has become the most disrespected coach by opposing CCIW schools.  I missed him yelling "rebound" while NPU was shooting free throws Wed night, but that's probably because I'm so used to him shouting out directions to his team.

There's many things to respond to, but the comment I thought was completely wrong and ridiculous was that he was classless because he didn't have a tie on.  Countless coaches don't wear ties and even Greg Popavich, the coach of the San Antonio Spurs, didn't have one on last night.

Coach G is not classless coach, but a good one who knows basketball and has done a great job so far this year and overall in his tenure at Augie.  That's it for me about the Coach G bashing.

As for my Super Bowl prediction, in the words of the superfans: Not gonna be pretty.  BEARS!

Augie is supposed to have the game tonight at North Park on their student radio, WAUG (http://www.shoutcast.com/directory/?s=waug&numresult=25&x=17&y=16).  We'll see if the stream works tonight.  Should be a great game.

The Augustana student station, WAUG, should be doing the game as well.  However, over winter break the station's server crashed and hasn't been working well in January.  Hopefully it will be up and going tonight (at waug.augustana.edu, or http://www.shoutcast.com/directory/?s=waug&numresult=25&x=17&y=16).

In regards to the previous post about Augie being tournament tested, Wessels was sick and didn't even play in the tournament last year.  I think he gave it a go one game and couldn't do it.

Wessels last year caught pneumonia and had it for about 2 weeks.  He didn't play in the first or third tournament games.  The 2nd tournament game vs. UW-Stout he tried to give it a go, but couldn't play and was in for just a couple minutes in that one.

Speaking of Wessels, he had a good game vs. IWU on Wednesday with 5 steals and 10 assists.  Anyone know when the last time an Augie player got double-digit assists in a game?

Re: Elmhurst 76, IWU 57

Brian Lee made a ridiculous series of plays in the last two minutes of the first half of this game.  After EC jumped out to a 22-6 lead, IWU had battled back to a 30-24 deficit and had the ball.

Lee made a steal on the defensive end, then, with the ball in his hands and the shot clock winding down, dropped in a stepback three from the top of the circle.  On Elmhurst's next possession, Lee drove into the lane and threw up a runner that banked in to push the lead back to double digits.  In the final seconds, with IWU attempting to hold for the last shot of the half, Lee made another steal and threw in a buzzer-beater from around halfcourt.

It was something to behold.  Almost literally by himself, the senior point guard extended the Bluejays' lead from 6 to 14 and nullified the Titans' efforts to get back in the game.  Elmhurst would lead by at least 9 points the entire second half.

After watching the Elmhurst/Augie game on Jan 3, I have to agree Brian Lee is one of the best players in the conference this year.  It seems that wasn't just a one-game performance he had last Saturday, as from what I read played very well again tonight.  However, interesting note on how Augie couldn't contain Lee, but could contain Kent Raymond, another great player.  I guess that's the CCIW, and anything can happen any given night.  Can't wait to see Augie play next Saturday @ NCC.

Looks to be a good game with NCC and RM.  Should be the same with Augie (5-1) and Coe (5-0) tonight.  Apparently Augie's student radio will have their first broadcast on WAUG as well.  Can't wait for the game.

I took a look from last year's top 25 rankings and Augie was not ranked as high as they are now until week 6.  Their one loss from a year ago before CCIW play was to UW Stout, a much better team than St. Ambrose.  I would say as of now they are for sure a top 25 team, but number 11 seems a little high.

With all the talk about listening to the games online this weekend, I thought I should add that Augie will have their student radio (WAUG, waug.augustana.edu) broadcast the game from Naperville on Saturday.  They will start their broadcast at 1:45.

Is Black playing for Wheaton today?

Augie fumbles the ball in the Carthage endzone, Carthage picked up the ball and he started running down the sideline. The officals blow the whistle for no reason when Johnson was across the 30 yard line. He never stepped out of bounds but for some reason the refs blew the whistle. Terrible call as that ball could have been returned for a TD or it would have been much better field position. Instead Carthage ball at the 20 yard line. TERRIBLE CALL!

Sounded like something wasn't right with that call.  Probably an inadvertent whistle is my guess.

This is a little off topic, but in the MSU NWU game today, the Wildcats were up 38-3 midway through the 3rd quarter and ended up losing 41-38.  How does a team blow a 35 pt lead at home with 23 minutes to go especially to MSU?

Maybe MSU remembered that loss to ND earlier this year and wanted to get their own crazy comeback win.

I have the Augustana broadcasters on, but was wondering where I can find the Carthage broadcast.  Can't find it anywhere.
