Hey Go Thunder - Thanks for taking over the top spot for negative karma.  All the others will gang up on you, but do not worry that only you and me have the guts to tell it like it is in the CCIW.

Coach Barnes - quit crying to the team you are looking like a poor sport!!!
Coach Brewer - Learn some offense, it might help next year if you are still here!!!
Coach Lindmark - your young, you should get out while the getting is good!!!
Coach ???? - Don't let Barnes take over the defense anymore!!!

Last year, weren't you consistently ripping Augie for not opening up the offense and throwing the ball?  Now they do with little success and you call for the coach's head?  I think you need to make up your mind, dude.

If the offense is opened up and the ball being thrown at the wrong time, this is STILL bad coaching.  I do not see this as needing to make up my mind - I see this as a continuation that the coaches for Augie are inept.

Also, did not mean to imply that Wheaton and North Central did not deserve to win.   As I have stated in the past, CCIW is gratefully becoming more competitive.   However, Augie is staying static, which is a contributing factor to parity in the conference.

Well, I have tried to keep out of it this year.  Nobody believed me when I have stated over and over that the coaching staff for Augie is inept.

The game this past weekend only proved my point.  From the play calling - which pretty much told the team that the coachs do not believe that the team can make the big plays, to Coach Barnes temper-tantrum on the sidelines where he threw his clip board (way to show sportsmanship in front of all those recruits coach!!!!) it just goes to show that the guiding light of coach barnes has burned out.  After all, you cannot keep harking back to the 80's for your inspiration forever.

Now to make matters worse, seems coach thinks the way to motivate his players is to piss ALL of them off.  He refused to show game flim, stating there was nothing to see, and he is now blaming the players for the loss to North Central!!  No wonder the players are ready to revolt!!
Not sure if they are going to show up for the North Park game!!!!  Not sure I could blame them if they didn't.

Get out of your comfort zone coach!!!!  Start acting like a head coach.  We all know you played defense in college, but you are the HEAD coach now, not a defensive coordinator.  Do not blame the players until you blame yourself and your coaching staff.  You are, after all, supposed to be the LEADER!!!

Well, Augie had a bye this week.  Still will not help them for next week.
Playing the pasty team two weeks in a row will not help the moral of this team.
To bad they could not play MacMurray before heading into conference play!!!!
So, they will be 1-2 at the start of the "real" season.

Seems to me, by talking to team members that the heart of the team is not there this year.  The seniors just want to get their last year in and really do not want to make the playoffs so they can enjoy the two week vacation that Augustana is getting this year at Thanksgiving.

The entire team is also tired of practicing an offensive scheme that never materializes come game time. Baldwin-Wallace would have been a perfect time to try some passing.  The team practiced and were told they would pass on second down situations. - even Charlie Weis let his freshman who was starting his first game pass the ball more times than Augie will let their team pass all season!!  But the offensive call play reverts back to a scheme that just does not work anymore.

Augie will fall back on run offense even when they do not have the size or talent on the offensive line to support the attack.  And, of course, the coaches must think it too much work to have specialty players for different situations.   You will see the same offensive line in there on long yardage, short yardage, red zone, extra point.

I think that I will start following Alleman instead this year.  More exciting and it will not waste my Saturday afternoons.

So, Augie got a whoppin on Sat.  Shows that they are pretty lame outside the division!!!
Hate to see them next week also.

Maybe Coach Barnes can show his lame side again this year and make the players remove AUGIE from their helmets.

Not to worry Coach - you still have the three way championship going for you.  Should make it again this year ;)

Looks as if all is NOT well in Augie Camp 07.  Big blowup this week with one of the starters quitting the team.  And if he truly did not quit he should be tossed for his actions.
Not sure what percipitated the confrontation between said player (NAME WITHHELD HERE) and coach (from what has been reported the kid just blew), but this will be a true test for Coach Barnes to show the necessary disipline that is required in the situation.

After the meltdown of last season, with most of the team ready to quit over coaching decisions, the blowup is not all that surprising.  If you think I have bad karma, you have not seen anything.  The Augie coaching staff is reeking bad karma right now.

From my vantage point not sure the team has the heart this year!  But who knows, this could be the catalyst to inspire.

So apperently Wheaton has the best food, is that true?

I'm not sure if it is "the best", but as college food goes, Wheaton has outstanding food service.

I looked up on the 2008 Princeton Review best college list.  Wheaton is actually #3 in best food service.  I would give you the link, but you have to register.

WOW...I get all this bad karma and I am talking football.  Nobody out there complained about all the space this took on the posts.   Of course, this is speaking the truth like my posts ALWAYS have.

Been watching the Augustana practices.  With new coaches was hoping to see something different, but appears to be same old, same old.  HEY CCIW - Augie is going to be running options!!
Hopefully, Augie will sqeek in under the new TRI-CHAMPION standings that was instituted last year.  Apparently, CCIW has created a "feel good" atmoshere so that no coaches have a hissy fit.  Would not want Coach Barnes to actually have to recruit using his REAL record.
Oh well, look for Augie to run, NC to pass, Carthage to play dirty, Milliken to get beat up, Wheaton to act like the CUBS, Elmhurst to be a no show, Ill Wesleyan to be the patsy team.  Isn't there one more that seems to elude me.

Can you explain the comment "Carthage to play dirty"

Yes, this comment simply points out what has been known around the conference for years.  Especially, when Carthage is at home and losing.  Of course Ill Wesleyan is coming to be known for their dirty play the last few years also!

Congratulations to NCC and Wheaton.   Let's see - does Augie deserve to share in the congrats?  NAW!!!!!

Now you all can see what happens with delusional coaching!!!  But gosh, they can say the co-won the conference  :o  :o  :o

The time is now for Coach Barnes to make a change to get Augie back to being great, or keep things as is and let Augie be an also ran.

Down with JohnsEn and the entire offensive coaching staff!!!!

So you know for a fact that not a single other offensive player is even considered to be moved up into a starting role?  And you know exactly how many passing plays they practice the entire week?

On top of that, you even know for a fact exactly what the Augie defense practices against the entire week?

You know an awful lot of details about Augustana's practices obviously.  Are you a coach?   Are you a player?   Are you one of the guys from Varsity Blues that pulls up a lawnchair to watch practice all week?

YES
YES
Maybe I am Coach Barnes and have no other way of telling JohnsEn he should leave  :o

TruAugieAlum,

I'm curious what you base your opinion on that there are several players, particularly offensive lineman, that should be playing at Augie but aren't.  The one thing you keep referring to is looking at the size of the players who are playing vs. those that aren't.  I can tell you from my experience at Augie that we had plenty of guys who looked more like football players than some of our starters, but their performance on the field didn't measure up to those who were playing.  In 1986, our offensive line was very small compared to prior year's teams, but they were able to dominate some very good defensive lines on our way to a 4th championship.

We all get the fact that you don't like the coaching staff at Augie.

Okay, here goes:
Augie loses two non-conference games early in the season due in large part to a weak offense.
Are any attempts to correct this made. NO
Are any other players given a chance to compete for a spot NO
Does Augie practice defense against passing offense, even when they are scheduled to play a team known for their passing game NO
Does Augie offense practice passing plays - one or two plays in a week of practices
Is the offense this year comparable with any offense from the glory years of the 80's NO

My beef is not with the players, but definately with the coaching.  I think that the coaching has been out of touch for a number of years - it is beginning to really show this year, but because of non-parity in the CCIW they have been able to win conference.   Parity seems to be gaining in this conference.  Could they possible have won a national title with these teams NO

It is high time that the coachs quit relying on past glory in their play selection and start actually coaching for the future.   The other teams in the conference have caught on to how to defend and play against Augie's running game.

My feeling is this - Coach JohnsEn has been an asset to Augie football, but he is waiting for retirement.  The offensive coaching staff is hand tied in their ability to try any changes because of this.  My fear is that as long as he runs offense the other coachs will get/have the same mindset and we can look forward to coming years of mediocre and ineffective offensive play by Augustana.

My postings might seem harsh, but they are gaining attention!!  Change is needed and it is needed now.

And I have seen the play of some of the BIG players who are standing on the sideline.  Believe me when I say that the offensive coaching staff is moronic!!

TAA,

Let's step back and take a look at this.  I really don't think the Augie coaches have all of a sudden forgotten how to evaluate the talent on the field.   If your son, oops, I mean if these big players, aren't on the field, it's because they probably are not better than the guys in front of them.  No coach in his right mind is going to sit a better player that can help him win a game unless there is some sort of disciplinary or academic case.

Yeah, they have been showing it all year!
