If it hasn't  been covered already, just thought you'd all want to know that the Bethel Royals recently received their conference championship rings. I would make some smart ass bragging remark, but when a team buys rings to celebrate a d3 conference championship, I don't know if they get to brag or if they should be made fun of........

That is a fantastic bumper sticker...............

Just wanted to make a stop by to point you all to my blog. Will you enjoy it? Probably not, considering it's for the most part devoted to Nebraska Football and the Big 12. But if your bored and are looking to see what I'm thinking on a given day, its something for you to check out. I'll be getting back on here more often as football season nears, and if I hear anything about spring ball......anywho....

As far as the OC goes, another sub-par effort in a season of mild disappointment. Used to be a real good show, and I'm actually glad they killed off Barton, I got sick of her bitching.

anyways, my real reason to get on here is to let everyone know that Bethel won the men's conference championship in hockey last night, meaning that all we need now is baseball to win it to complete a trifecta of sorts. I dont really care, I had bars to go to, but for the rest of the school, it's a pretty big deal.

Well I just came across this GEM in Theowick's Underground News...made me laugh so hard I cried.

Q: Why should you always invite TWO Bethel students to go fishing with you?
A: If you only invite one, he'll drink all your beer. Invite two and they won't drink any.

That may be the funniest and most accurate joke I have ever heard made about Bethel. Props for that one

don't get any ideas BDB...    I've put the subdivision on watch for a silver pickup suspected of tampering with mailboxes

Look what I found in Rico21's mailbox.  ;D

Anyone at all find it surprising or ironic that the SI Swimsuit arrived on Valentin's day?

KR - Every year that happens (or close to it) I have always found it funny.

I was listening to KQRS this morning and they mentioned that Paris Hilton was doing an autograph signing in Vienna when people started to boo and jeer her. They then started throwing trash at her and she got hit on the side of the face with a bag of McDonald's french fries. :-[ Since we are not antiwomen at the Stiftungsfestivities, Paris would never be treated like this if and when she shows up in Collegeville this fall.

And to just set the record straight for UWPSuperfan77, we really do love Bethel and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. And I promise to remain sober this weekend at the EelPout Festival in Walker, so help me God.

JR - I know this may be seen as blasphemous...but I had to share the enlightening quote from Paris in my morning paper.

"As a celebrity, you can really make people aware of what's going on in the world"  -- on her plans to travel to Africa this year.

I, for one, am glad Paris is doing her part to educate the world.

Paris hilton's motivation to go to Africa: she figured it's the only place where everyone else has as much VD as she does.

I dont know much about the guy, which doesnt bode well. I'm not saying the guy cant coach, obviously he must know what he's doing if he's in the NFL, but this team needed a guy who was a proven recruiter with ties to the west coast and Florida, and who knows if this guy fits that bill.

I know i'm a little late on the National championship discussion, but I took great joy in seeing OSU get thier butts kicked. Both of the best schools from the Big 10 got reamed in their bowl games, showing that the conference isnt as good as all the homers claim.

After a long sabbatical, I'm back on the board, lured out of my retirement by the previous post about movies. And for anyone who wants to see a classic drinking movie along the lines of Animal House and Old School, I highly suggest getting the movie BEERFEST.  Anyone who is a fan of drinking is for sure going to love it.

hey, back for my once-a-week post. First off, how is it that Kirby Carr is a Gags trophy finalist and then not even the best linebacker on his team, at least according to the All-Region teams?

That said, I have to finish this paper for the last day of class tommorow. Progressivism is some kick-ass stuff..........who doesnt want to learn about feminism?

you know, i take a break from the board, and i come back to arguments about spanking? is this what johnnie fans talk about once their season is over?

While i think everyone would like a playoff, I think a more logical system is the game-after scenario previously mentioned on this board. Play the four main bowl games and have the winners play for the title. Im not positive, but I believe that this has been an idea under heavy discussion among the BCS committee, as it would keep the bowl structure in place and would assuage much of the anger of the #3 and 4 teams who feel like they are constantly left out of the mix.

I feel like I'm fighting a losing effort considering I'm in big 10 country. And thats fine, it comes with the territory. But lets say Michigain goes instead of Florida and gets beat (again). Then everybody would come out and say "See, they already had gotten beat, now we robbed Florida of their shot", or something to that effect. So we would once again have a controversy and everyone would be pissed that we were that dumb to put Michigain in against a team that they had already shown they couldnt beat. And while i understand that they only lost by 3 points, let us not forget that for the most of the latter part of the game that they were playing with a 10 point deficit. they would score and cut it to three, and OSU would tear apart that vaunted defense in a matter of two or three minutes, and put it right back at a ten point lead.

and while I hear bitching and moaning about the BCS, you have to look at the reason it was created: to avoid a split national title. Unfortunately for the system, it has come across a couple years where there were too many undefeated teams (3 undefeateds in 2004: Oklahoma, USC, Auburn) or too few (this year). Look back at the year before it was implemented: 1997, two lone unbeatens in Michigan and Nebraska that split the title. If it was like that very year, there wouldnt be a problem, because those two teams would sure to meet in the national title game under the BCS system. However, life aint that easy. There are gonna be years like this, where maybe there is only one unbeaten left at the end of the season and tough decisions have to be made.

QuoteI hate the thought that monstrously muscular men battle back and forth for 59 minutes + only to have a 5'6 140lb latino with a cheesy moustache come out and decide the game.

Having a 60 minute game decided by the smallest guy on the TEAM is as much indicitive of a team sport and effort as are penalty kicks in that other game played on some football fields.

YES!!!!! The Gators will knock Ohio St as flat as Ohio is  :) Urban-ball is The 2nd best thing behind Gags-ball

The Gators have as much chance against OSU as Hamline did against SJU this year.

Michigan would have been the closest game, Florida against SJU won't even be close by half.

Phone that in!

A 12-1 SEC team beats Michigan in my opinion. Aside from Wisconsin and OSU, the Wolverines played nobody of consequence. The Big 10 is really the big 3 with assorted high school teams mixed in. Way too top heavy.

oh, and i for one am glad that its Florida-OSU for the title. Michigan had it's chance.

"I don't understand kickers," Gagliardi ranted.

John should have left it at that.  The kicking issues are in my mind a coaching issue as much as anything.

The problem is that there is no kicking coach.

Does any team in the MIAC have a kicking coach?  I know the Cobbs don't.

What, you guys didnt know? Bethel has had a kicking coach for years. I never understood why he kept telling them to miss the important ones, but we have had one.....
