QuoteI can't remember the last time Oxy lost to La Verne. Must have been when Don Morel was coach. Usually I'd look up the answer in 2 seconds, but Oxy in its infinite wisdom took the past seasons archive down or hid it somewhere.

2002, last game of the season at La Verne. 24-22. If I remember correctly I think we used a fake FG and a fake punt to help win that game.

Just heard that Coach Ankeny has been fired. Unconfirmed.

Nice man. Four year record: 4-32. Not much to work with at ULV.

OxyBob

What do you mean by not much to work with? Isn't part of his job to recruit?

Cal Lu gave up 42 points to Linfield..  La Verne only 30!   ;D

ULV defeats Whittier 49-23. Happy for the Seniors to get one on the way out. See ya next year and good luck to the Regals in the playoffs.

Hey guys, I've been MIA for a while, but I'm back.

I was busy watching the Giants win a World Series... Hopefully my Leos can end their drought tomorrow! Can't believe how bad they've been.

ULV-Whittier should be a good close game. La Verne made it awfully uncomfortable for Oxy last Saturday. Another 10 yards and the Leopards might have had a chance to win the game with a FG. Whittier stepped all over itself against Pomona. Pick: La Verne.

Gosh I sure hope so.....

Have you looked at the roster?  Almost all the line are frosh and sophs and they are big.  Getting kids to stay around is a common problem at D3, especially if they aren't playing.  Looking at the roster, this shouldn't be happening to the linemen.

Yeah, unlike some teams in the SCIAC, we don't shy away from a tough non-conference opponents.

My point was we have had all Frosh and Sophs on the line the past three years.

SnowLeopard,
Give the coaches a chance to develop their program. It's going in the right direction.  These things take time.

3 years and a progressively worse record...... I'm not asking for a Conference Championship overnight, just some improvement and a few W's.... I'll put some blame on the Administration, but c'mon! Right Direction? You been following ULV?

Don't get me wrong, I know were I young team. But it seams like we've had young teams for the past 4 years...
Andre and Ho look good, but they are upperclassmen. It seams like every year we get 15 WRs and forget to recruit OL. We for sure have to lead the SCIAC in sacks given up over the past ten years.
I don't understand how we got blown-out by Pomona....
And if you're going to start schooling us on "coming together as a team,"  I ask you direct that criticism to Coach Ankeny...

Thanks to the Oxy broadcast, I was able to watch some of the ULV game yesterday.

Talk about frustrating,  I don't know where to start. The missed opportunities, the play calling, the stupid mistakes, the record, yuck........ Somebody hit the reset button on this program.

Hey guys, I'm back. Glad that the season is finally here. Hope everyone is well and good luck to all in the SCAIC.

No much to report about La Verne as usual.

Leopards Open 2009 Campaign Against Whitworth

The University of La Verne football squad will open its 2009 campaign this Saturday when it hosts visiting Whitworth University at Ortmayer Stadium.

La Verne welcomes several new players to the roster as third-year coach Andy Ankeny looks to improve upon a 2-7 season in 2008.

Representing the Northwest Conference, Whitworth heads into Saturday's contest looking for its first win after falling 48-31 at fifth-ranked Hardin-Simmons last Saturday in Abilene, TX.  The Pirates and Leopards will be meeting for the sixth straight season, but it will be the final meeting for some time. Last year Whitworth opened with a 22-13 win over La Verne in Spokane, WA.

The Pirates feature a potent rushing attack led by led by senior running back Adam Anderson, the 2007 and 2008 Northwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year.  Anderson tallied 229 all-purpose yards and a pair of touchdowns last week against Hardin-Simmons.

The Leopard offense has the luxury of two quality quarterbacks in Anthony Andre and Christian Winnewasser.  Andre passed for 1,423 yards last season with Winnewasser passing for 427 yards with 4 TDs.  The top returning pass receiver is senior Kenneth Chapman, who hauled in 12 passes for 224 yards and a pair of scores.

On defense the Leos return senior linebacker Branamier Courtney, a 2007 All-SCIAC selection who posted 63 tackles last season.

Saturday's kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 am.

Anyone know the tailgate /parking lot situation at Chapman?

The Leos season finale is there this Saturday night and me and some buddies were considering partaking in some pre-game festivities. Thanks

I took a few days off.... Is this still the SCIAC board? Seriously people time to move on... ;D

In other news, the Leos fall to Cal Lu 37-3...

At least we aren't going 1-8 like someone predicted!
