In-depth game preview article from APU athletics website.  Good reading.

Quote from Warhawkfootball.com:

"While most fans were unfamiliar with Azusa Pacfic, an NAIA program that is allowed 36 scholarships. The team from the metro-Los Angles area had dominated NCAA Division III teams in recent years. Since 1996, the Cougars were 40-7 vs. NCAA Division III teams and has won 13 straight and 15 of the past 16."

I found this information helpful, personally, in bringing perspective to UWW's  27-7 win over AP yesterday........  "

Enjoy this site and this is my first post here.  Just wanted to clarify a statement made earlier.  APU, like all NAIA schools, is capped at 24 full scholarships, not 36. They are allowed to allocate the $ equivalent of those 24 schollies any way the school and coaches want.  In 2005, APU only used 14 scholarships and distributed that amount among about 54 players.  I believe only a handful of NAIA schools use all 24 scholarships - 4-time NAIA champ Carroll (Mont) is among them.

Whitewater is a very good team and showed that against APU.  Not taking anything away from WW, but APU was playing their 3rd road game in a row, having played the week before in Canton, Ohio and prior to that in San Diego.  Penalties were costly and they were just not sharp.  I look for a better showing (and result) against LaCrosse.  However, a D-III team that can run over a full (48) scholarship D-IAA like they did is scary.

If Wisconsin sweeps APU, I'll never eat cheese again.
