Some food for thought as we mull our wounds in the off season-does anybody from the Ithaca house think the 3/4 was effective this season?
The statistics are interesting in one special category that is sacks:
2006-18
2005-23
2004-27
2003-41 (my year)
2002-29
2001-28
I think pressure is the key to good defense i saw 3 games and came away with we did not do this enough and the numbers support my theory- I would be interested to hear what others think

techmo and Mr. N you make valid points here it must be a big adjustment for some to come from the top of a program and then play JV but i guess that is D 3

If you are right with the demoted to JV comment it must be very de motivating for any top recruit- the real question is who they are since no one knows anything about the JV anyway (exception Grastorf)

tecmo I disagree but only time will tell our D line has had their hands full -the linebackers are athletes that pursue very well but the pursuit seems to be after the damage is already done at least last week we need more contain pressure from the outside

I wonder how long our 3-4 lasts if we get another whipping like saturday- my opinion like previous posts is that we look good on defense against weak teams

Let's all hope they play a hell of a lot better than last week especially the defense

Mcgraw I think the key to your statement is the first half they scored the 34 in the second- anytime you score 34 pts in any half you got to question your defensive capabilities this is just like last year when the offense must outscore the other team this defense got over confident with relatively weak teams in the beginning of the season and it showed up last saturday

hey tecmo did we ever think that the 3/4 doesn't work with good teams with no pressure put on the quarterback and maybe the offense should get the brunt of the failure on Sat

Everyone is on the Ithaca offense for a lousy performance last week I have seen 3 games and believe the 3/4 is a joke with no pressure on average quarterbacks get off the offense and ask the question how does this great defense give up 34 points in the second half- previous games gave it away as teams started to throw all day on these guys
