Here's an in-depth look at all of BV's freshmen and newcomers.  There are some really good guys in this group and they'll need to develop quickly as they'll be needed sooner rather than later.

Andy is about 6'1" (maybe a little taller) and weighs about 175-180 lbs, will play the one or the two obviously.  I know the Ellerbroek twins are both 6'4", but I'm not sure about their weights.  Not sure about anything on the Minnesota kid.  But yes, some decent size and some really good athletes from what I've seen and heard.

I go to school with Andy, so I've heard from him that the twins, the Minnesota player, and him are all going there next year.  VH basically told him that they were recruiting six kids.  Looks like they got four of them so it's entirely possible that there are a couple more that might be coming.

Looks like BV will have a pretty good class for next year.  Andy Puhrmann (averaged 20.3 a game for South O'Brien) and the Ellerbroek twins from 1A state champion NU High in Cedar Falls will be going along with a kid from Minnesota whose name escapes me, but supposedly averaged over 20 a game.  BV loses some great reserves and a starter or two, but they look to be stockpiling with some young talent.

Does anyone know if the game can be heard on kniakrls.com like it was last week?  Thanks for any help.

Thanks for all the good restaurant ideas, that'll surely help me out.  As far as the O.P., is the one in Waverly much like the one in Cedar Falls?  I've been to the one in CF a few times but was wondering about the one in Waverly.  Thanks again.

Thanks WH.

Agree with doolittle here, pretty solid post by Warthog.  By the way, I'm heading over to Waverly this weekend to catch the game and also some state playoff action, but does anyone know of some really great places to eat in Waverly?  Of course there's the O.P., one of my personal favorites, but any other places you guys would recommend?

If BV can provide an offense line next year, look for Cory Donschecki to make an impact.  In his freshman campaign he has rushed for 569 yards on 147 attempts.  That roughly 3.8 yards a game.  He has spent this season sharing the role with two upperclassman.

Couldn't agree more Klop.  Donscheski has looked pretty darn good all year for a freshman running behind a pretty below average line.  He looked especially impressive against UD on Saturday.  His 44 yard TD run down the sideline was a heck of a run.  If BV can get a line next year we could see the second coming of Chad Pearson in Cory Donscheski.  Next year could be rough with the graduation of Chris Hawkins.  Although a poor decision maker at times he has done pretty well with an average line and a young running back (even though Rowedder and Moss do sub in with Donscheski).  Who do you think will replace Hawk, Klop?  Perry or Phelan?

Klop, I was serious. The smell of hot chocolate in the morning is heavenly!
As for IIAC towns
Pella-Very clean, you would think it is kind of close to Des Moines until you make that first trip down 163 and realize that is the longest hour you've spent in your life.
Dubuque-"Big" city feel, and both campuses (campi?) are very nice. Loras is Old and UD is new, but both have their place. No flat ground
Decorah-VERY nice. A bunch of penny-pinching, rich Norwegians (a lot of my relatives) settled in the "Mountains" of Iowa. Picturesque, but probably the farthest away from any bigger-town feel than any other school.
Indianola-as one of the kids at Dowling says--Its KKK country. Nice campus, but I always get a kick out of driving through town and seeing every store's weekly Skoal special. Its a no-fail
Storm Lake-Campus is nice, but driving to it makes me want to shower
Mt. Vernon-very old, reminds me of Loras a bit. Someone may have to correct me, but it seems like a very quiet town.
Coe-Being a small-town kid, I get nervous driving to Coe.
Waverly-I grew to love the town. Great facilities at the high school, and the town very much emraces the college. Lots of student specials at places in town from Joe's to the movie theatre.

Well, BV easily has one of the nicest campuses in the IIAC, probably only behind Luther IMO.  But you're being a little unfair of your assessment of Storm Lake.  The houses around the lake and most of the town are extremely nice, or at least average.  Sure, there are bad parts, just like every other town of that size.  A lot of that blame goes to the large amount of Vietnamese and Mexicans in the town, but it shouldn't, a lot of it is white trash.  But anyway, it is a pretty nice town, granted not as nice as Waverly, but it's probably better than most of the towns/cities in the IIAC.

Yeah Show, I was in Dubuque yesterday, and you are right, Jermar is definately not deserving of all-conference QB.  Maybe if there was an award for dual-threat QB then he'd get it for sure.  Today, he was pretty good in the first half and obviously can wing the ball, pretty much has a cannon.  In the second half, however, he was extremely inaccurate, throwing at player's feet and throwing it out of bounds.  He never threw it blindly or anything, he usually took his time (no pass rush whatsoever again from the Beavers) and somtimes hit the open guy.  The Beavers again dropped at least 3 sure INT's so I'm sure he stats weren't that bad.  Spartans pretty much ran two plays all day.  QB choice and the option.  Little #4 for the Spartans did extremely well at RB and it seemed like he always got 4 yards.  Beavers often committed to #4, only to find that Jermar still had the ball-20 yards downfield.  Defense did not play very well against the run, but I thought they did really well against the pass.  One 40 yarder and a miraculous catch by Walner by the UD sidelines are the only big pass plays I can remember.  For the Beavers, once again Chris Hawkins was his indecisive self.  O-line did really really well in pass pro all day only giving up two sacks-one was a coverage sack and the other Hawk once again stepped into the pressure.  Little Row broke off a big 50 yarder and got some yards here and there, but once again we could not run the ball consistently.  Like I said, Hawk looked OK usually throwing on target.  Randy Kaufman had a big day, again and was consistently double-covered in the 2nd half.  UD's team speed is still what stands out to me.  Not many people can chase down Devin Stewart and Row and they did it, to both of them.  Their 'backers especially surprised me.  Prince Bussie, Chavis Youngblood and Orlando Walton are some special LB's.  Extremely fast for that position.  Overall, not a bad game by my Beavs, but UD just had too many athletes on this Saturday afternoon in Dubuque.

I suppose I am a little confused here and maybe some of you more knowledgable football experts and IIAC conference decision makers can help me out? First, can you only be all conference if you can only pass and not run?? I suppose I didn't read that in the all conference selection manual?? Oak, since yesterday it seems was your first time seeing jermar jackson play, you were not treated to his "best" performance through the air and everyone is entitled to an off day of over 200 yards passing and 100+ rushing with 4 TD's. And granted, I will agree that there are a couple other QB's that may be better "passers" but I do not think there is a better "overall" QB. Jermar has 27 total TD's (if the IIAC website has updated stats already including yesterdays game) or 31 total TD's if they don't. He is the best rushing QB in the IIAC and 7th in the IIAC in rushing versus other conference RB's and let's not forget 2nd in passing. I suppose in my humble opinion, I think he has been VERY instrumental in UD's turnaround this year deserves recognition among the best QB's in in the IIAC, if not the best. He is a different style QB from most the others, a Michael Vick type, that surely will get criticism at times. But, I will beg to differ that he shouldn't be considered as the "best" in the IIAC. And leading the spartans to no less then a 3rd or 4th place finish after 2 decades of being in the cellar IS an accomplishment worth noting.

No, this is not the first time I've seen him play.  I've seen him 3 other times, also.  I wasn't bashing him at all, he is obviously a great QB.  I know what you're saying and there's no doubt he is a huge threat.  All I was saying is that all times I've seen him he's struggled a little with his consistency.  Now, most QB's at the DIII level do, because well that's probably why they are playing DIII.  I wasn't bashing him at all.  He's a great player for you guys and is really feared in the conference.  All I was saying is that he's not really a pure passer-which a lot of good QBs aren't.  And is he worthy of all-conference?  Probably.  Do I think he'll get it?  No.  But you're right he's a great QB and I'm not knocking him at all.  I was just reporting on what I saw yesterday.  I'd take him over Chris Hawkins anyday, believe me.  You guys are lucky to have him and it seems that outside of Bussie and Belleus and a couple linemen you guys return pretty much everybody.  You guys will be fun to watch next year and I wish you good luck the rest of the season.  I was just simply stating what I observed on Jermar yesterday, nothing more.  He's good and I would never take anything away from him.

Yordi looked pretty darn good.  Had a nice little run at the end that sunk my Beavers (not quite sure how a slow, white QB does that to you but ya know).  Looks like he has a pretty live arm but was fairly inaccurate at times.  Boy oh boy if only Wade woulda picked off that floater that Yordi threw to that slow #25 guy or whoever he was.  But, the Knights played a pretty good game.  BV just doesn't have that killer instinct yet.  Up on Coe, get smashed, up on Wartburg, let one slip by.  My Beavs are looking pretty good, but man they have to learn how to play with the lead.  Congrats to the Knights on a good win on an absolutely beautiful day at J. Leslie Rollins.

Beaver D is dominating right now.  They'll need more points to put it out of reach, though.  Overall the Beavs look pretty darn good right now.  Hopefully they can keep it goin.
