Just caught this topic...

Back when I was at Hardin-Simmons (99-04) we had a group of students known as HSU Posse (after the school mascot Cowboys).  We would dress in overalls, white tank tops, and cowboy hats.  I don't know they're around anymore.

Did anybody else notice that the poll on d3football's homepage had Whitworth as No. 5?  Pat?

I just saw that No. 4 North Central (Ill.) loss to (unranked) Ohio Northern 28 -19.  Hopefully, HSU will be No. 4 come tomorrow.  GO COWBOYS!!!

Cowboyfan, I have to agree.  The second half was so much better than the first.  It will be a great season if they play all four quarters of every game like today's second half.  One down, nine to go.  GO COWBOYS!!!

Ahh, it took a while to refresh, but it but the extra point on before the TD.

How did HSU score 1 point?  Live Stats and D3football scoreboard both say HSU 35 - Whit 24

I have to agree with you Troy about HSU's kicking game.

Wow it's been tooooo long since I've been on here.  That's Army life for you though.

Can someone explain what's happen to HSU today?  I can't get the audio stream (streaming audio blocked on the only computer with internet) and the live stats don't give you a feel for the game.

It almost seems as if HSU didn't show up.  They're giving Whitworth great field position and the D is giving up hugh plays.  Any thoughts?

Hopefully HSU can do what they do best and bounce back.  Down 11 isn't too hard to overcome with 30 minutes left.

How come the referees are not calling the pass interference on UMHB?  The radio announcers have said that HSU has had a few good arguments for defensive pass interference against UMHB, but the refs aren't calling it.

According to my research on MSN Mappoint, the distance from Jackson, MS to Belton, TX (using the shortest distant button) is 491.6 miles.  This distance changes, however, when the shortest time button is selected (530.3 miles).  I think this may be how Pat and the committee received two different results (supposedly using the same program).  Still, does 30 miles over the sacred 500 mile limit make that big of a deal?  I don't think so when the option that the committee decided on was to send Millsaps 963.2 miles (using the shortest distance) to Carnegie Mellon.  Just some food for thought.

Well, I have to say that I'm disappointed.  Does anyone know why the committe used a differerent software that what they tell the schools to use.  I figured HSU and UMHB would have to play each other in the second round or later (if they both made it that far).  However, you have to do with what is given to you.  I guess the good thing about the situation is that the ASC should get home field advantage for at least two games.  Whoever wins between UMHB and HSU should get the home field advantage in the second round.  Hypothetically, if Wesley is knocked out in the first two rounds and Whitewater knocked out within the first three rounds, the winner of Saturday's game could host the Semifinals.  For HSU to host the Semifinals, they would need Central to be knocked out within the first three rounds as well.  That's what it looks like to me.  If I'm wrong, just let me know.  That scenario, however, is way down the line.  First, it's HSU at UMHB.  I wish I could make the game, but I guess I'll have to settle for the audio via the internet.  GO COWBOYS!!!!!

I'm curious as to how Trinity's and St. John's losses will effect the selection committee's thoughts.  Will HSU get in (like they should)?  If HSU does get in, will they be forced to play a rematch with UMHB in the first round (even though the committee doesn't like to do that)?  Will they send two teams to Texas (which I doubt would ever happen)?  Will they send one of the two ASC teams to another region?  So many questions that we wont know the answers until tomorrow.
