We've got to give him time. I mean, the guy didn't even get a chance to recruit anybody this off season...

you're absolutely right...

"We just have to ignore the scoreboard. We have to focus on what we're doing and that will take care of itself." - Coach Andrew Ankeny

all i have to say is wow... bold strategy Ankeny, lets see if it works out for you.  I am not impressed at all with my alma mater, the AD is a moron and as long he is there the football program will never improve greater than 3-3 in SCIAC, thank you Christopher Ragsdale. (sorry had to vent, its tough to move from the field to the stands..)

Good Luck to All SCIAC teams playing this week...

Leos have a bye... at least Ankeny won't have to worry abou the scoreboard this week.  Long live Don Morel!

if you're starting at a 1AA school, why would you transfer?

Tox could get the job done, I don't know that he'll want it now that he's back in Chicago with the Bears.

From what I've heard, there is a coach selection panel composed of some school officials as well as two current ULV players, which I think are QB Troy Doolittle and DL John Legerton.  Any decision will ultimately be made by the AD, but the panel is holding a great deal of influence in the process.  I also heard that they want to hire a ULV grad or someone who has Division III/SCIAC experience.

If I could hire the coach, it would be former Leo and LB Poly Jackrabbit Bjorn Biggles, but thats just my opinion.

Tarn Sublett is out.  His son is a senior starter on Bellevue HS (WA) football and baseball teams and probably wants to be there for that, but you're right that guy knows too much about football.  Great coach and person, if anyone could turn ULV around, it'd be him.

Just from what I heard, Mike Preston is most likely to take the reins.  If Coach Morel had stayed, he probably would've been the OC.  I'd like to see Justin Brown, former All-SCIAC safety, get the job but I don't get to pick, so we shall see.

Looks like Cal Lu is in the same boat, good luck with that Kingsmen...

Leopard TE 8,

Any Fullback who punts deserves to be a first teammer.

By that rationale, the CMS quarterback got screwed cause he didnt get anything and he punted too.  Now if we're talkin about J Beezy playing fullback and punter, you're looking at an All-American.

ya imagine if they stuck brian paulk at fullback.  player of the year the year for sure...

To my understanding, coaches cannot nominate their own players for All-Conference selections.

My guess is some of the people who received all-conference accolades without the corresponding stats, did so for their impact to their respective team.  Something that isn't measured through statistics. Joe Camacho did not lead in rushing by any means, but opposing coaches may have felt as if he was an impact player for the Leo's, which is why he got all-conference.

As for myself, I led the SCIAC tight ends in receiving, but I didn't receive any accolades.  Stats aren't everything for all conference selections, which is a good thing.

As for Schafer, he was pretty good, but he fumbled too much.  Coaches knew he had tendencies to fumble.  Had it not been for his fumbles, first team for sure.

Just my opinion on the All-SCIAC team, I think it was pretty accurate.   A couple of positions could've went other ways, not to discredit those named to the all conference team in any way.

I think that Aaron Gonzales (CMS) would've been a better choice at 2nd team than Scurlock.  I think Scurlock threw like 17 picks as did my good friend Troy Doolittle, and Doolittle had more TD passes.  I think coaches like Scurlock's athletic ability which is pretty comparable to Gonzales who threw like 4 picks.

As for tight ends (where its hits home), first team should've went to Pomona's TE Reiff.  Tight ends are receivers also, and two catches for 34 yards and splitting time with another TE shouldn't warrant a first team recognition.  Just my opinion though.

Receivers could go a lotta ways. The oxy frosh receiver had like 7 TD's and a good amount of receptions, but was left out.   Matt Griffin of my beloved Leo's got left out as well.  However, the messed up thing is that all the receivers who got all conference accolades did deserve it.  There just wasn't enough spot to handle a conference loaded with wideouts.

As for DL, suprised Redlands only had two, they definitely had the best front in the conference.

Just my opinion though and honestly it really doesn't matter cause it can't change anything.  Congrats to the all-sciac players.

someone asked about All-SCIAC teams.  They do announce it to the teams first.  We had three 1st teamers, two 2nd teamers, and three honorable mention.

1st team: OL Matt Wiegand, LB Corey Tello, WR Mike Moreno

2nd team: FB Joe Camacho, DL Kevin Knosp

Honorable Mention:  WR Matt Griffin, LB Deandre Valencia, OL Ray Kodadek

I guess the SCIAC site is a little slow at updating, congrats to the all conference teams. btw, does anyone know who the 2nd team TE was?  My guess is Pomona's TE, but I also didn't think Redlands TE was going to be the 1st team.  Congrats to him though.

Good season Oxy.

Browneagle, playing in the 2 QB system sucks...

good luck oxy, get one for the conference.

I don't think being pumped up for the game this weekend will be a problem. The last two games meant nothing. The guys had sealed a league title and home field advantage was a long shot no matter what happened with Chapman and Whittier. This is the playoffs, if you're not excited you're not human. ;)

every game means something whether youre human or not...
