Whew is right. Edgewood and Concordia go down to the buzzer - free throws ended up being the name of the game. Congrats go out to Edgewood for playing a tough tough game at Buuck Fieldhouse. Scheele certainly has a bright future in front of her and Kittoe has definitely leaving a legacy!

Best of luck to the Falcons on Saturday - here is to hoping the weather cooperates!

Region 8 women's basketball / NCAA Bid
February 19, 2007, 01:47:52 PM
Coach Brunner and the Falcons of Concordia have put a nice season together. The won the NAC and enter the post-season tourney with a one seed. With this being the inaugral year the NAC doesn't get an automatic bid, correct? If the Falcons cruise through the tourney what are there chances of getting a bid to the DIII big dance?

Have they played enough quality opponents? What's the criteria for selecting teams at DIII?

I can see why logic would have it that the guys and the girls would use the same ball. My concern for it would be the implementation. Little kids especially would have a harder time adjusting to the size and weight.  I think it college the players would adapt quickly because of the strength training implemented at the college level. I envision sloppier play at the lower levels because of a lack of strength. Can you imagine how bad some shots would look if they used a heavier ball.
A smaller ball makes sense because of smaller hands handling it and smaller bodies rebounding and being strong with it. If I had to vote on an issue like that I would say that a change needed to be uniform across all levels if it were to be effective....but for now, we'll play with a 28.5!
