As school is about to start up in a few days, does anyone know what the freshman class looks like at Beloit?

Looks to me like they needed too, after all they have to make the Athletic Dept. look good in their choice of getting a new coach so why not drop the stronger teams (UW-Whitewater, JUDSON COLLEGE, Elmhurst College, Aurora University), in an effort of having a winning record.  So after they beat up on Rockford College and MSOE they should be ready to take on the MWC.  I for one am looking forward to the Feb. 13th game at the Flood.

Does anyone know if the schedules for the MWC are out yet?

Does anyone know of any top recruits coming to any of the schools next year?  How does it look for Beloit's new coach?

to respond:
1 - i guess i have to say no otherwise i cant make my arguement.
2 - No, someone with college head coaching experience would be my vote for a new head coach if there was to be a change, if there is this great tradition of Basketball, I don't blame any of the coaches I think it has fallen off because of the administration and some grand ideas that i do not think anyone can come close to understanding their thoughts, i know i dont get it some of the things they do
3 - I give it to Beloit on the Gym, and a bit toward the football stadium which is a ways away from the campus but besides those two.  I would say any school would be better. I am not as well traveled as you, so you of course will let us all know who ranks where.  BC has a poor weight room, falling apart track, bad locker rooms, leaky pool. Most high schools have better facilities.  If you are trying to get a great player (any sport) why would you come to BC?  Great education, sure, not a winning athletic program. You could just as easy, go to one of the other MWC schools and have both or at least closer to both than one would get at BC

Or. . . Some Beloit fans (me)  are sick of the Beloit way of not making the right effort toward winning in athletics, and a poor job of offering Division 3 sports. Hiring a coach with no head coaching experience?  Is that the great plan for the rebirth of Beloit Basketball?  ( I wish him well)! I am all for a young coach getting a start.  Maybe it will work, in fact I hope it does so more than me and a few students and locals can enjoy the game. I don't think coaching is the issue at Beloit,  facilities, student body, and athletic support are whats holding BC athletics back.

I do not think Vraney is doomed to failure at Beloit, my point was that I think there was not the support for the old as there will be with the new.  I am a huge BC sports fan and wish the team and Coach Vraney the best, I hope they win it all.  We will have to wait and see.

Dolph -  I am pretty sure that Beloit has always had a swim coach, I don't think that Burris added that position.  As for the AD and Assistant Football..... Hows that working out?  I don't know how any department that has had more changes than BCs. The two MWC titles are great accomplishments but I would not get used to that with BC, it takes a lot for everything to fall in place and win a championship.  Let alone 2 in the same year.

But does it make sense to have a football coach, coaching swimming.....Anyway, you mentioned a bunch of great qualities in Coach Varney, I would say you have all that in the youngblood too.  I think there is a lot more to getting a new coach a Beloit than one thinks.  I guess if Coach V  can paly good ball then the team will be better???? Coaches dont score the points or play D.
Either way I hope BC basketball does well.

As Augiefan said "I think the new AD is motivated to improve things, and there are some indications that she is making slow progress, but to those who know and love the tradition of Beloit College basketball, the Burris/Youngblood years have been painful."
You can't be serious!  What will be more painful is the next few.  If they do win more it will not be because  they are  being coached better it will be because of the help the department is giving to the program, and the AD making slow progress, yeah Ok, I would agree if the end goal was moving backward like it seems the athletic program is moving.  Not an improvement! Good job Beloit....

"Could be a solid hire" but not an improvement.  MWC ties and understanding of basketball in Wisconsin is not the answer to the problems at Beloit.
Good luck to the next coach.
