Good season Blue Jays.  Wish some things could have worked out differently but overall I think it was a successful year!  Congrats to the teams that are left, they did what they had to do to get in, which is impressive in this very competitive conference.  Those of you who will be attending the tourney, have fun!  I hope whoever is best fit to win in the big dance wins the tournament.

Ok I have a thought for educated discussion on the postseason rankings.  Hopefully someone who knows for sure can tell me if this information I received is correct...it did come from the SLIAC website rulebook.  Assuming EC, FU and WC all end up tied this is something I hope someone can look into and answer for sure.  In reading the post season tournament rules I think this is how it works for multiple teams tied for third (11.4.1.2):  since head to head is 2-0 and 0-2 all the way around, Fontbonne would get the 3 spot as their margin against the other two teams is +26, Eureka is -9 and Westminster is -17.  Since article 11.4.1.2 is silent about the placement order after the filled spot, I think you take the remaining teams and begin the process again.  That leaves Eureka and Westminster tied for 4th.  Article 11.4.1.3 applies for two way ties for fourth. Rule 1) is head to head and Westminster has the edge over Eureka 2-0.  Therefore if all three teams end up tied FU should end up third and then based on the tie for fourth WC should have win the tiebreaker over Eureka.

that really hurts the jays chances.  tough blow.   need a big win out of maryville over FU or some other huge upset...

WC wins over BC 68-65, pretty sure on the score, know it was by 3.  Back and forth all game, questionable no call on a three pointer by BC with .8 left, maybe should have been a foul, but it would have been a tough call to make.  Hammond put on a show in the first half, Kurz and Davis kept WC in it.  34-28 BC at half.  Second half WC jumped up 39-38 and it was back and forth from there.  With the 50-49 lead BC went on a nine to nothing run before westmo could counter and tie it at 58 with four and a half to go.  From here WC held the slight advantage the rest of the way and made some free throws to win it.  Great game!  WHERE ARE THE GC EC updates?

If Webster wins Weds and WC can avenge a tough home loss to MU at their place, we will have a four way tie for third.  This is going to be really interesting to see how it works out.  Barring a let down I dont see WC folding and I gotta think they get one of the spots, and FU likely taking the other.  What does everyone else think about this and who do you guys like?  It never works out the way we think it will but maybe someone will pick it right.

i actually did pick eureka to make it.  i dont put much value into my weekly picks as much i do my overall who i think will make it.  mostly everything i say is just hunches at the moment anyway.  i didnt pick FU or GC.  From that I think you can figure out who I do think. :)

Like I said earlier my info was from a reliable source but only the people involved will really know about the Mac vs WC thing.  I also have let it go.  Should be a fun night, wish I could make it to Fulton.

I had a chance to talk with a source from Westminster in relation to the Coach Hettinga situation at WC Saturday, that Hope brought up earlier.  I was told that with WC up late in the game and Mac pressing, the ball was thrown deep by one player for WC which was intercepted by a Mac player.  Appearantly the play led to a foul or break in play.  The player who threw the errant pass walked by Hettinga who said "good pass" sarcastically to the player.  The next play WC inbounded the ball up the benches side sideline where a WC player was fouled right in front of Hettinga, who proceeded to steal the ball out of the WC players hands while he was standing on the court of play.  The WC player appearantly turned and said something in reaction to having the ball stolen from his hands by the coach on the court.  The game went on with reportedly nothing else coming of it but after the game while walking through the line to shake hands the player tried telling Hettinga he was sorry for the situation and "blowing up like that" to which Hettinga replied, "Don't ever talk to me that way, I've never been  disrespected like that."  I was told the player again apologized to Hettinga in the locker rooms.  This is the story I was told, from a reliable source.  We all know tempers can flare in these types of situations but if that came from a coaches mouth to a player who did nothing wrong, that seems unacceptable to me.  First of all Hettinga mouthing a player of the other team for making a bad pass, second being on the court of play in the game and not only that but interfering and taking the ball out of a players hands.  If the foul had not been called how would he have explained any of this behavior?  Finally the player after the game does the right thing and apologizes to the coach and then when the coach has a chance to be a real role model and stand-up man he chastises the player.  Then the player had to go find Hettinga down in the locker room area to aplogize again.  I just don't think that this was the correct way for the coach to handle himself in this situation.  Things can get out of control in game situations but when the coach had not only one but two opportunites to do the correct thing he failed twice.  Not the kind of guy I'd want coaching my kids....

Also one other thing that I noticed is in the postseason poll Westminster is incorrectly spelled.  Reminds me of the one day I write on here MU instead of Mac and I get ribbed by two different people but I don't see anyone saying anything about the spelling of Westminster.  Way to be consistent guys.
