McMurry seems to have a weak bullpen. Their schedule is moderately favorable to finish 4th and make the tourney.

I think that Lyon would be more competitive in the UMAC, with whom Westminster is an affiliate.
The travel would be horrendous.

March 27, 2025, 11:49:01 AMQuote from: AAFES on March 27, 2025, 11:36:19 AMDallas had their Pool B basketball bid in 03-04. The football discussion was prior to that. The idea was to start a club team and if successful make it a varsity sport but it never got that far although a couple of potential players did enroll and did graduate playing rugby.IIR, the 2003-2004 UDallas men's team earned a Pool B with a 12-12 or 12-13 record.

I believe that dropping athletics gives the Board one more year to figure how to close the school.
What have we heard? 50% of the 295 students are athletes, 150 student-athletes?
30 graduate this spring.
40 will be seniors and decide to stay graduate in 2026.
60 of the remaining 80 transfer.
We are down to 205 students enrolled.
How many 2025 high school graduates matriculate at Bryn Allyn?
That gives the Board time to be absorbed by another institution and unwind the endowment.

March 26, 2025, 09:53:23 PMQuote from: Gray Fox on March 26, 2025, 05:35:14 PMI believe UDallas tried about 2003 or 2004.Quote from: crufootball on March 26, 2025, 03:15:26 PMYes. I can't recall exactly. Maybe they were going to start as a club team.Quote from: Gray Fox on March 26, 2025, 01:17:57 PMQuote from: AAFES on March 26, 2025, 11:54:48 AMYou can take Dallas out of the consideration for a football startup. It was considered around 2000 and roundly dismissed. Nothing has changed to reverse that thought. They made a good effort. Got guys to sign up, but those same guys didn't show when things got serious. Maybe they start with all guys not already in school.
So they attempted to field a team with students already at Univ of Dallas?
Maybe Ralph Turner will remember more.
I believe they had left the ASC by 2003-2004 b/c they earned a Pool B bid in basketball. SRSU beat UDallas & Trinity to make the Sweet 16.

The Top 25 begins to make sense when ALL of D3 has played about 25 games. By then, most of the Spring trips are completed, the south & west wannabe's have migrated back to mediocrity and the cream is rising.
The best of the OAC are always in the minds of the voters. I think they are waiting for the best 2-3 to assert themselves.

I can imagine 10 of the 14 making the move.

Hartford is doing it now. They are in year 3, likely full member next year.
Those D1s contemplating the move are not in this part of the country.

Ron is a TUTX alum...
Think Endowment roughly $1B
$63M is a year's good ROI.

Houston Christian?
Incarnate Word?
Or D2?
St Edward's?
St Mary's?
Doubt any will move.

Would the CCS mind if one of its members (Belhaven) split allegiances?

The SCAC looks like a good conference for a team to add football and be competitive quickly.
St Thomas comes to mind but do they have questions of available land?
Anybody know?
