That would be a huge pay cut for the average Texas 5A coach.

There are a bunch of schools looking for games at this late date.  They could have held out for something better.  We should look at it as a cultural exchange game.  There has to be some silver lining in the scheduling of these guys.  You'd think that they would get some KU walk-ons to transfer in since they are located in Lawrence.

So what SCIAC or NWC program will win a National Championship in the next few years?  If Oxy gets another big time QB you would think that they could keep things rolling.   Linfield is always a threat.

Not to be negative, but it's hard to believe that Cal Lutheran waited 2 months to go with a local high school coach.  There are some great coaches at the high school level so I'm not going there with this.  He coached at Cal Lu previously, but not as a coordinator.  He wasn't a coordinator at Humboldt State either.  Anyway, I'm just thinking that you pull the trigger sooner so that a guy can recruit and implement his philosophies during the off-season. Championships aren't won during 2-a-days.  They are won in the off-season.  Spring ball starts on Wednesday, so the kids get screwed.  The staff hasn't had time to sit and watch film from last season to know what positions to slot guys into.  I doubt that he'll have a full staff by then.  He doesn't have much time to get his coaches on the same page before they get infront of their players.  They are about to play a mean game of catch up.
No I'm sure that ULV will do the same thing and hire a guy that would have said YES months ago.

CLU may have just made a great hire, but it's hard to believe that they waited all of this time to give us Ben McEnroe from Chaminade High School.

ULV- I heard that the provost stepped in and made the committee redo their process.  Basically, start from the beginning.  Crazy!

CLU and ULV................  any word yet? or at this point do we not really care?

That is a good schedule.  Tough non conference.

We do have a ton of Jucos for student-athletes to chose from, but high end academic kids tend to stay away from them.  It's a great choice financially and the opportunity to get recruited again is great.  I've notice that many parents with kids that have great grades would rather them attend a 4 year school sooner rather than later.

The biggest difference from east to west is the financial aid packages.  I believe that many programs in the east have better relationships with their financial aid offices.  Endowments are typically larger and grants often go far beyond need.  Mt. Union for example-  Obviously a great program, but when you have guys turning down 1AA full scholarship offers to go there that tells me that they are putting packages on the table the are equal to full scholarships.

LaVerne can attract more Jucos than Cal Lu because of their entrance requirements.  I think that it would be hard to count on D1 transfers.  It happens (Oxy QB), but those guys usually end up in scholarship situations (1AA or D2).   It's hard to go from a full ride to financial aid and loans to pay for 30k plus.

I totally agree!  The lack of a recuiting class will definitely set them both back a few years.  They will still get their fair share in this class, but I would think that they are getting beat on most of the better kids.

Oxy-  Geez................. I'm not on campus so I have no idea what the word is from office to office.  My "very specific' prediction came from a conversation that I had with one of their staff members a year ago.  It's a message board.  I just put it out there.  If it happens it happens.

It's definitely too late for this upcoming season, but it's an idea for future seasons.

How about a conference challenge?  A couple of SCIAC teams Vs a couple of NWC or Wisconsin teams in a doubleheader at the Home Depot Center. Nice venue, good chance for a big crowd.
