Trinity with 65 wins only can play a 8 game season due to NESCAC rules. Thats a .8125 winning pct over last 10 yrs. I would like to see the winning pct rankings for the last 5 yrs, and I am not suggesting thst they are in the same category as a Cortland or St John Fisher or NJAC schools. But they have dominated the NESCAC.

Region 1 football (New England-ish) / Re: The Top 10 Eastern Region teams of the D3football.com Era

Given the title of this thread, Pep was curious as to what D3 Eastern Region football programs had accumulated the most wins since 1999. Thanks to d3football.com, that information was easy to find, particularly for a library assistant!
Top 20 Eastern Regional Teams By Wins Since 1999:
1) Curry (91)
2) Rowan (89)
3) Ithaca (83)
4) Widener (77)
Hobart (77)
6) RPI (75)
7) Montclair (72)
8 Union (71)
9) Bridgewater State (69)
Brockport State (69)
11) Cortland State (68)
12) St. John Fisher (67)
Springfield (67)
14) Trinity (65)
15) Delaware Valley (64)
Western Connecticut (64)
Wilkes (64)
18) Alfred (63)
19) Lycoming (62)
Massachusetts-Dartmouth (62)
Pep knows that this will certainly be cause for discussion as "strength of schedule" may have something to do with win production. Nevertheless, these are the "facts" pertaining to the matter.
Trinity is only allowed 8 games a season (NESCAC rules) so 63-17 since '99, .787 winning pct.
Like to see a winning pct list for the last 5 years, ... is that info handy?

Trinity's Tim Kiely promoted to Arkansas (AA), first outing after traveling all night. Throws a complete game with 13 K's, Brian Rembiz from Clinton Ct is also there and doing well as a set up man.

Boston drafted both Bayer and Hedman (d3baseball's pitcher and player of the year), so it seems that at least the Red Sox scouts agree with the d3 baseball gurus. I hope both those guys have tremendous success because (1.) I'm a Red Sox fan, and (2.) it will justify how d3baseball sees its own. Good luck to Jeremiah and Drew.
I got to know one of the minority owners of the Red Sox when both of our sons played for Trinity. He was talking about a current MiL'er drafted by Boston when he went to Trinity, so this is a fact. The BoSox and some other teams take some kids not only for their BB talent, or to fill rosters, but see them as a possible "organization" prospect that can move into management and have that invaluable playing experience on their resume. If you look around front offices, the NESCAC for one is well represented, and Pomona- Pitzer is a highly regarded school.
This particular Trinity player is currently at AAA and was the Red Sox minor league offensive player of the year in '07.

Brian Rembisz, Ct kid who was juat a pure ball player, 5'8" 165, played a UVM, pitched, played inf, played in every game. Best pitcher, best hitter etc. but went undrafted. Signed with a independent team in Michigan, played one year, picked by Angels last year late. Currently in Dbl A (Arkansas) with 0.00 era (20+) innings pitching middle relief. Tim Keily (Trinity) just threw a complete game 4 hit shutout and leads the team in innings and I believe wins. Tim isn't a large kid but knows how to play. From everything I have heard about Shawn, he is that type of player that can help fill a minor league roster and get a chance. I bet he goes, maybe later rounds, but I'd bet on him going.

who knows about the field. Trinity powers would probably say "why change a good thing, so far, so good". But I am serious about the NESCAC deal, it is a great baseball conference. Except for a few, and that could change, they can play with anyone in the country and next year will prove it. The conference is loaded with young teams.
Going back to todays game, how impressive was Coach Holowaty, Shawn Gilblair and Will Musson??? They were right there, ready for Wisconsin, game in hand, then missed by inches, and had to explain what their feelings were moments after. Class act!! And Bill Decker was great, and then the audio went into a mute.
Son waqs at the game, said the mustaches were real.

Here is a real petty remark, how about giving Trinity a home field that represents a first class program , instead ofr one that is a step above Little League.
Nescac Fan, good to see you (post). My son and your brother threw against each other, remember?

First post but have been following this all season. This regional was as good as it gets. This game was classic. I have been a long time Trinity fan, having a son who was fortunate enough to be a part of their past success. I also have been a long time fan of ECSU, and Bill Holowaty. It was, believe or not, sad to see them lose. It was great to see Trinity win, but the best part is the respect they have for each other. There is no doubt that today matched the two best D3 programs in the country and a quarter inch of the bat barrel on Shawn Gilblairs swing was the difference. Best of luck to Trinity, and you can count on ECSU being a team to beat next year.
I also would like to see the NESCAC bashing end, I think Trinity has proved that the LEC does not dominate New England baseball. And the remarks about a weak non conference schedule should end, its how you finish.

Besides Jonah Bayliss from Trinty, now a reliever with the Pirates, who is in MLB that came from a D3 NE college?

I agree with Bostonian. Tim Kiely had TJ surgery done last June and should not be throwing yet. He is a tough, very though kid/young man. He throws hard, has a great breaking pitch(s) and most importantly is a winner, he fights hard. He was getting MLB looks before he hurt his arm, he is the real deal. Reminds me of a RHP Guidry. A classic tournament pitcher.

Same thing, too many summer innings. Greg was the summer before, twilight and NECBL. Then half way thru a good junoir year the elbow and the shoulder started acting up. Tried to pitch thru it, more summer ball did it. Tried to come back senoir year and had a torn UCL , as did Trinitys other 2 weekend starters, and tried to hide it (not very successfully). Young competitive pitchers need to know the warning signs of pain, and TELL somebody. I'm convinced cold weather had a part of this, throwing most of the season in 45 or less (Colby series was in the 20's) is not good.
Bostonian, tough news on Kevin Burr. Another son of mine played for him at Dean. He was always a gentleman when we spoke.

Thats too bad about Ben, it is a tough thing to see. I went thru it all last year watching Greg throw at 50%. Ben did well, he has some great memories to hold on to. Good Luck!
