Chris-

It was a punt attempt...not a punt.  Have to kick the ball to get that call.

On the film Hambrick tries to punt it but the Linfield player leg whips the punter's leg as he dives passed him so he can't kick it. I've never seen that happen before.

You are taught to jump where the ball will be and the because the punter dropped the ball no punt attempt.

Since we're going to revisit the game I've had one thing that always stuck in my mind.  After the punt block, the very next play was the swing pass to Jenkins for the diving TD, but what always blew my mind was the Cru DB that pulled up short of trying to make a tackle on the play (#11).  Maybe he thought Jenkins was already in but the guy just stopped.

The play is about 3/4 into the clip. http://www.catdomealumni.com/topten/04stagg.html

I always wondered about that play...from the side lines we never saw the entire play.  After watching it on video it seems like he just stopped short...odd.

I will say that the 04 MHB team( other than maybe the 02/03 Johnnies) was the toughest and most fundamental teams I played against.

That Rowan game was one to remember for sure.  Even with the great win it came after one of my more embarrassing plays as a cat.... fumble on the one yard line!! :o

I do remember coming to meet the student body section after the game. They all came out to greet the team and it smelled like a mixture of the 3 wise men...JD JB and JC.

Good luck against the Loggers this week fellas.

First off congrats to the cats on the #1 ranking.

I have to agree with the other poster when I see UWW at #4...wow.

By looking at the upcoming opponents and assuming all top 4 teams go undefeated the rest of the way.  What is the chance there is much mixing up of those teams?

Last  Games(conference W-L)

Johnnies                                          UWW
Augsburg  3-2                        UW-Stevens Point  4-0
Carleton    1-4                       UW-Oshkosh  2-2
                                            UW-La Crosse  2-2

Central                                                   Linfield
Buena Vista  3-2                                   UPS    0-3
Wartburg     3-2                                    PLU    2-1

Just got stopped in the parking lot of my local grocery store (in Peoria, Arizona), I was wearing my Linfield football camp t-shirt, and the driver of the truck said he played football at Linfield. Didn't have time to talk details , but he said he played on the team with Larry Doty. Small world indeed.  :)

Hey there R&P

My folks just came up from Peoria this weekend to watch me coach up here in Bend.  Tell Shawn hey for me and dont forget to send up some Centennial boys.  They have become one hell of a power house down in AZ.

So whos planning on playing in the alumni game!?!?!?!?!?

Army-I'd love to get over and see the boys but I am coaching over the mountains here in Bend against Hermiston on Friday.  Then films, films and more films...I'll be over in a few weeks when things calm down over here.

WC11 and GHC have a great trip down to Cali...being that far South for a game you might need to switch the longies over to a margarita for this week! ;D

I agree about the viewing of games being free...I'd be interested if the game viewers money covers the costs and how many people do it week to week.  Plus for 12 bucks a pop you would think that stretch could get the kinks out of the system.  Even in today's economy there has to be plenty of hometown businesses that would toss the cats some $ to run the site for free...???

Hey Oxy faithful,

Did your school finally spring to buy decent uni's.  The last time I saw them they could only afford a one inch square patch knock off of the Oregon St. "O".   I mean I'm all for simple uni's but that was just sad. ;D

Great game for the cats...sounds like the offense was really clicking.   The D came out a little flat but seemed to settle down after the first few drives.  I'd say the biggest surprise for me was the secondary...especially the corners.   :o

Great coaching by the cats to come out in the 2nd half and really jump on the boys.  Enjoy it fellas but now its time to get ready for a long trip down to Oxy.

Cant wait for the Catdome to get a rockin tomorrow!!!  Had my first HS game vs McKay last week and I couldn't help my mind wondering off during the national anthem to the good ol' days watching the stars and stripes waving in the breeze against the field house back drop.  I still get goose bumps every time I here it.

Lop the head off boys!!!!
