Josh Fox must have taken a Clay Michael e-mail to heart. Michael had written an e-mail to Coach Leatherman earlier wishing the team well and telling Leatherman to tell Fox to "...grow a pair and get tough inside the paint..." and that's just what the young man did in the second half.

i got a good laugh out of that....i can so picture clay saying it.

definitely be jealous of Coach Leatherman, Coach Weller, and Administrative Assistant Derek Foltz of BC tonight.  They are all enjoying themselves in Indianapolis watching the final four.  Better be having the time of your life out there D.

steelyglen-
i don't need any pies or RC...i try to eat healthy and I don't drink soda unless it is mixed with something.   ;D  I'm just having a little fun...and I'll always pick BC...in hopes that they'll win and i can laugh at the rest of you on the bored that got the pick wrong.  Besides...if they meet RMC the way they did on tuesday but can figure out how they can keep up their tempo and not lose it in the second half, the game will be a lot closer than all of you are picking...

haha. or rather ATOY and VOY (Athletic Trainer of the year and Videographer of the year).  I was filling in for the book keeper at Roanoke.

...and at Bridgewater we've decided my new official title is "Multimedia Director" because I do much more than film...so maybe I'm the MDOY.  Take your pic.

I don't like to place bets.   ;D  And Mainers eat whoopie pies.  not moon pies.

As I was telling Jim at the game, this is the first game of the season I can honestly say Bridgewater played worse in the second half then they did in the first, and their first half wasn't very good at all.  They can't shoot 11-29 and expect to win games.  Usually the Eagles are pretty good at picking up their intensity in the second half, but it just got worse instead.  I think a lot of the new/freshman players still walk onto the court like they can just put up a few average baskets and win the game.  The reason the average Eagles of last year came out ahead of what they were expected to do is because they wanted it more.  They pumped themselves up for games and came out with enough enthusiasm, desire and intensity to win basketball games.  Average play doesn't win games.

On Saturday Guilford played an impressive game and Bridgewater decided not to show up.  When you're down by 19 points to start the second half, the future doesn't look to great.  Steelyglen paints an accurate picture of the Eagle's laziness.

Although a lot of that laziness seemed to return the first half of the game on Sunday, Bridgewater thankfully is a second half team and stepped it up enough to pull out over the Wasps.  Jay Strotman was almost unstoppable in the second half, with 18 of his 29 points coming from the second half alone.  Clay Michael also had an impressive 22 points and 17 rebounds.  He made his 1,000 career point early in the first half.  I have a hard time watching Emory & Henry play ball.  Watching 5 subs go in every minute in the first half added onto the 75 3-point attempts is a little much.  This system isn't going to cut it if a team is only making 30% of their shots.  I feel bad for announcers everywhere.

The fan base however was really up these two games.  It was great to see many alumni there...besides Steely and "a certain former ODAC POY", last years graduates, Ashby Tarkington, Jared Chalk, Matt Fitzgerald, and Nick Stewart were spotted in the crowd.

This year's crowd is really hurting without last year's senior class.  It really could use some added personality.  I miss the days when Adam Miller would light up the scene.  Not sure why the other classes aren't as enthused about the games, but hopefully it will pick up.

really quick...additional comments about yesterdays BC/HSC match-up (Should've been there Steely  :)...even as agonizing as the first half was)

The first half was horrible to watch the Eagles in action.  HSC was really dominating it, but mostly because it looked like the Eagles were still playing in the same mode they did against Lynchburg, they weren't grabbing rebounds and their shots just weren't going in.  thankfully Michael wasn't having as bad of a game.  I'm not sure what Coach Leatherman said to them in the lockerroom, but the guys stepped it up and this team showed up in the second half.  Although Josh Maupin might not have had the best shooting percentage, he didn't stop taking shots from behind the arc and the ones that went in really helped us come out on top.  Andrew Cathlin also really stepped up the tempo of the game with some key lay-ups.  The Eagles are really shaping up to be a second half team.

This is the first time in 4 years the Eagles have played at HSC while HSC was in school.  Tough crowd to play against, but thankfully these guys are tuning out the taunts
