Any news on recruits or new defensive coordinator out of Carthage.

Heard a rumor that the Elmhurst QB is coming back for a 5th year.  Is it rumor or truth??  Was he out a year with an injury?

Theres no question NCC came to play last night.  But, this game was almost an exact replay of last season.  Last year, 2006 season, NCC up 13-0 at halftime just battering Wheaton in almost every aspect.  NCC comes back the second half and scores 6 the entire half while Wheaton scores 31, Wheaton outscores NCC in the second half 31-6.  Last night NCC up 17-0 at halftime just battering Wheaton in almost every aspect.  NCC comes back the second half and scores 7 the entire half while Wheaton scores 28, Wheaton outscores NCC in the second half 28-7.  For the past 2 seasons Wheaton has outscore NCC in the second half 59-13, ridiculous.  Wheaton comes out of the half with all these adjustments NCC has no answers for.  NCC is getting entirely out coached by Wheaton after the half.
The best coaches are the ones that can make that half time adjustment when their team is done.  Did not see the game but appreciate the updates on the web, made you feel like you were there.  Kudos to the wheaton staff for the adjustments.  Wow

Carthage needs a little heighth in the back field.  Tall receivers from IWU had a field day.  Also notice backs never turn to look at the ball, lost chances for interceptions IMO.  Frustrating day, boy can Moore punt though.

Sorry to say: Elmhurst 30 Carthage 15.  Way too many turnovers for the Red Men.  Seemed like  Defense was on the field most of the game.  It was a very close and exciting game until the 4th quarter.  :(

Mugsy,

How is the QB doing?

I don't have any new definitive information as I missed church this morning due to my last 20 mile run before the Chicago marathon.

There are a few players families who attend my church.  Even so, I don't feel comfortable sharing any news until I get confirmation of the details and until it is made public by the family or the school.  But what I had heard last night is serious to say the least.  To echo usee's comment, if what I heard was true, I would not expect to see Ullrich anytime soon starting for the Thunder.

At this point his personal well being supercedes any thought of his playing football.
will keep him in my prayers also.

Well, Augie had a bye this week.  Still will not help them for next week.
Playing the pasty team two weeks in a row will not help the moral of this team.
To bad they could not play MacMurray before heading into conference play!!!!
So, they will be 1-2 at the start of the "real" season.

Seems to me, by talking to team members that the heart of the team is not there this year.  The seniors just want to get their last year in and really do not want to make the playoffs so they can enjoy the two week vacation that Augustana is getting this year at Thanksgiving.

The entire team is also tired of practicing an offensive scheme that never materializes come game time. Baldwin-Wallace would have been a perfect time to try some passing.  The team practiced and were told they would pass on second down situations. - even Charlie Weis let his freshman who was starting his first game pass the ball more times than Augie will let their team pass all season!!  But the offensive call play reverts back to a scheme that just does not work anymore.

Augie will fall back on run offense even when they do not have the size or talent on the offensive line to support the attack.  And, of course, the coaches must think it too much work to have specialty players for different situations.   You will see the same offensive line in there on long yardage, short yardage, red zone, extra point.

I think that I will start following Alleman instead this year.  More exciting and it will not waste my Saturday afternoons.

Might want to rethink the Alleman statement.  They are way down this year from the team they have been in the past.  Hope they can rebuild.
