Congratulations to the CUA Cardinals on a terrific season and especially the seniors. These young men chose to attend a school that was 0-10 their senior year in high school and 4 years later they end their careers with a 9-2 record, a win in the ECAC bowl and 14 players receiving all-odac status (seven 1st teamers, five 2nd teamers and two HM). Special congrats to the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year (Keith Ricca and Nick Olivero - who also is the scholar-athlete award winner). Both are 4-year starters who had outstanding careers and are very deserving of being chosen for these awards.

How about this in the South (barring upsets):
Milsaps hosts Huntington/LaGrange winner
MHB hosts HSU
Muehlenburg hosts Catholic
Wesley hosts CNU
Thomas More goes north
HSC and W&J stay home (unless the Mules or Wesley go East)

I like your picks Dooberman...Ricca has been sensational in league play and should be a lock. Jennings and Sitterson were the next best I saw. If CUA wins the championship the COY should be unanimous. Olivero has been one of the best all-around players in the ODAC for 4 years.

And obviously the answer was and is NO...so all you HSC players and fans can stop asking the question and stop spreading false rumors and start worrying about Huntington.

While you're at it try and find out if Elvis is alive and what happened on the grassy knoll.

Sounds like if you can't beat him then make sh*t up about him. How does ODAC Offensive Player of the Year sound?

Muchacho - Catholic scrimmages at Johns Hopkins next Wednesday night (7 pm?). The word is that about 110 came out but 4 or 5 freshmen have quit. Still a big number for CUA.

I heard Catholic has it's largest roster in years - 110 players (over 50 freshmen).

kickerdad - Catholic was a power in the late 1990's (three straight playoff appearances in '97,'98 and '99) but has struggled the past 7 years (5-5 last year was the only non-losing season). They do seem close to becoming ODAC contenders with their most experienced team in years and some coaching continuity (new head coaches in 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2006) as the current staff enters their 3rd year.

Catholic has an interesting history...according to their media guide they were d1 until they dropped football in 1951...won the Orange Bowl over Mississippi in 1935 and tied Arizona State in the 1939 Sun Bowl...CUA is 3-1 all-time vs Miami, 2-1 vs South Carolina, 2-0 vs Wake Forest and dominated NC State (6-0)...the Cardinals did not fare as well against Maryland (1-8-2) or Boston College (0-7) and lost the only matchup with both West Virginia and Va Tech...they started football back up at the club level in 1965 and became a d3 program in 1977...they were in the ODAC for 1 year (1983) but went independent (in football) until rejoining the ODAC (football only) in 1999 (won their only championship).

What ever happened a few years ago when Guilford used an ineligible player? Did they forfeit games and did their opponents have a choice? How about when Shenandoah used an ineligible player against Catholic several years back?

Kid is right about the HSC 2003 team...way better than this year...in addition to ODAC poy's Ricca-Singh-Clemmons they had Ben Dull, Rolander, Ferrante, Junes and a better o-line led by all-americans Lee Bailey and Paul Williams...which is why they led all divisions (1,1aa,2,3) in scoring (47.2 per game) and were second to Mt.Union in total offense (521.4 per game)...the 2003 Tigers were a top 25 team whose only loss was the heartbreaker (if you were an HSC fan) to BC in which the Tigers blew a 21-3 halftime lead and lost by 3 on a last minute pass following a brutal roughing the passer call on a 4th down incomplete pass...that BC team went to the final 4 in the playoffs before getting beat (badly) by Mount Union. The 2003 Tigers were 2-3 tds better than the 2007 Tigers(imo).

The last place team(s) will always have a bad league record, but no doubt those 3 teams have gotten closer to the "big boys". Guilford and E&H beat BC the year before last while Cathlic lost in the last minute to BC. Guilford took the champs(HSC) to the wire this year while E&H gave them their only ODAC loss. A vast majority of ODAC games were very competitive this season...partly because of BC not being a national power and partly because the lower half of the league has gotten better.

I think you're right about the Eagles coming back to the pack but I also feel that the bottom-feeders of 3/4 years ago (Guilford, Catholic, E&H, Macon) have improved and closed the gap with the others as well. Thus we now have a league where anyone can compete with anyone on any given day...which is much more interesting than when BC was always 1st and HSC was 2nd and the rest battled for 3rd.

Since we're taking wild guesses, I'll take Montgomery and Mike Clark.
