Anyone have a chance to take in a Johnnie practice or have an inside scoop with the coaches? Just wondering how the WR, QB and RB competitions are shacking out.

This is the first I had heard that Crees is out for the season? Who's going to back up Kofoed?
Jordan Hansel
He was a frosh last year but played a decent amount.
8-17 for 116 yards and 1 interception in 5 games
I can't remember if they mentioned his name or not, but the coaches yesterday were high on this freshman QB coming in from Holy Angels.
And Duff's FB game was nuthin' compared to his tailgate game now.
I hear the coaches like the kid from Bemidji too as a possible backup to Koefed and who can be a player in a year or two. Saw him here in Fergus Falls last year...smart qb who threw for 6 tds here....but he was playing a fairly weak team.

Found this in a recent Bemidji Pioneer newspaper article:
Hengel to St. John's
Another Bemidji High Scholl athlete has announced his college plans.
Andrew Hengel will join the St. John's football and baseball squads next season, playing football for the legendary Johnnie Coach John Gagliardi.
He was a three sport star at Bemidji, captaining all three teams. He quarterbacked the grid team and pitches and plays shortstop in baseball. He also has started for the basketball team the past two years.
Hengel will leave Bemidji holding school records in career passing yards and single season and career touchdowns. He led this year's basketball team with a 12 points per game average. In baseball, he currently holds a .440 hitting average with 10 RBIs and maintains a 0.00 ERA on the mound. He is also is a finalist for Bemidji Athlete of the Year, which will be announced May 21st.
He joins his favorite grid target, split end Justin Hunt, in the college ranks. Hunt will play for BSU next season.
Others who have signed include wrestlers Kaleb Young (Minnesota) and Joe Andersen (St. Cloud), soccer forward Liz Judkins (Southwest) and girl's hockey forward Courtney Josefson (St. Cloud).

I have seen Hengel, Virnig, Rotschafer and Gieske play. Really nice additions for the Johnnies. I am certain they all recevied DII offers. What happened to the WR from Alexandria? Anyone else see any of the Johnnie recruits in action?

Kudos to John and the rest of the Johnnie coaching staff on the kids they are bringing in next year. I have seen a few of them play. The RB from Peirz must have gotten other DII offers. The QB from Bemidji had 6 td passes against my hometown of Fergus, and 5 or 6 more against Moorhead. The WR from Alex is tall and fast. I like the toughness of the RB from Melrose. I don't know the kid from Eden Prairie, but he looks pretty solid. Looks like more good days ahead.....
