JSG,
Trinity-Concordia is the following weekend, 2/15-2/17.
Either that or my son is travelling to Tx. for nothing?
IFD,
Glad to hear Jason will be in town for these games. I will not be able to make it but Nick will be there. He has been working out with the team and says they look really good. We hope Trinity will return to the top spot in the SCAC.

The Johnson City Cardinals (Rookie ball for the St. Louis Cards) just finished thier first game, which was scheduled for yesterday, but was postponed to today due to rain. Nick Vera (Trinity) went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 rbi, and 2 runs scored. Nick started the game at 3B, a position he has not played in quite a while. Sorry for tooting my brother's horn, but, WOW, what a first game. They play the second have of the double header later. Thank you to everyone for all the support, especially infield dad. By the way, our family wishes Jason a speedy recovery and we hope is back on the field soon.

Just a proud big brother posting that Nick Vera was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 32nd round; #981 overall.

Infielddad,
I will no doubt pass on the hello.
We appreciate you all thinking of Nick and hoping for the good news in June. It can not come soon enough for us. The suspense is incredible, as you know. He has had a couple of strong work outs and with a few more scheduled we are hoping for the best. If you all can throw in a couple of short prayers, I am sure that would not hurt anything.
I try to keep up with Jason's success through Nick. Best of luck to him, we all know he too has worked very hard for what he has acheived.
Thanks again.

Hello everyone. I would just like to introduce myself as Jimmy and I am Nick Vera's (Trinity) older brother. I was only introduced to the board not long ago, but I have tried to keep up as much as possible and I have found the board very informative and very entertaining. It is nice to see different oppinions from all over the SCAC and even some outsiders.
Of course I will be biased and put my vote out there for Nick as player of the year as I have once before on a previous post. But I strongly believe he has the numbers to be a strong contender for this award. Do I have total blinders on here or does anyone agree?

Nick Vera for player of the year.
.419 avg; .772 slg; .534 ob
The reason for fewer runs and RBIs is the rest of the team could not get on base or move him around. I believe 6 of his 8 knocks were solo shots.

I do not think Trinity has any regets about the use of thier pitching staff on Tuesday for the BIG win over TLU. Some Trinity players think the TLU games are a couple of the biggest games they play all year. With that being said, tomorrow brings about a whole new world to all of the players from Trinity. The seniors on this team have always been a part of a team which is accustomed to winning. I believe they will come out tomorrow and show the leadership they can bring to this team. If and when they take game two, I have to agree with ETG that they will have a great shot at game three with the momentum.
