Got to see Woo play LaRoche. My assessment: Have 3 players who can swing the stick, after that pretty big fall off. Struck out looking often. Looking at team stats they just wiff a lot as a team. Defensively they just lack overall athleticism and snap, not very sound fundamentally. Scots starter threw decent for 5 then the bull pen took over. The guys brought in did ok but very average.

As for the team, average team playing average competition leads to 10-10. I would have to say making the NCAC playoffs would be a successful season.

I believe I read in the D3 regional preview Swick wanted to change the "culture". He has. Woo gets swept at home by Brockport, falls to 1-7
#3
Dr., you are correct. Swick is in year 2. This years team includes his first full recruiting class.

Wooster's program has taken quite a fall the last 3 seasons. After 47 consecutive winning seasons the last 3 have not been up to the standards set before them.
After 6 games, stats: 5.29 ERA, .215 team BA with over 33% of their outs coming on wiffs.

Coach Swick is in year 3 and its time to get back to winning. Surprised with the hire when there are many successful Wooster alum in the college coaching ranks. Also, looking at the roster he seems to be recruiting nationally.

Scots pitching doesn't seem to be very strong so they will probably struggle the whole season.

If the Scots can't pull out of this funk it will be the programs first losing season in 47 years..... All good things come to an end.

Wow. Woo loses the the first game then comes back to win 4 in a row. Don't know what to make of this team. Splits with middle of the road NCAC teams but they seem to pull out wins when needed. Way to go Scots. Put your head down and keep grinding

Wow. Don't think I have ever heard of a school getting banished from a conference for their sports teams winning too much. Sooo sad. What has become of this country. Everyone has to be treated with kid gloves care and not hurt the feelings of the other schools. Maybe St. T should buy the rest of the conference schools participation trophies. Makes me sick

Baller, Thinking you are part of the team. No need to insult those who questioned the Scots bid. They did not have a great regular season and losing 2 against Denison in the NCAC finials did nothing to prove they where dominate. Otherwise, congrats to coming back from the losers bracket ( or should I say the non winners bracket to be politically correct ). Did not think Woo had it in them. They showed they have some moxie.

Still have a ways to go to get to the WS and do some damage.

By the way, I like my crow with hot sauce. Go Scots

Jim Dixon and Jack Parkman. Kudo's to you. Don't think Woo was worthy of a bid. Time will tell.

Woo needs to come up big in the losers bracket. Don't think they have the pitching to make it all the way. Better get those bats hot to out slug the opponents. That is Pettorini's MO. We will try to beat you with offense.

Ok. Someone needs to say this. Is Wooster worthy of being in the tourney. They don"t have many quality wins over mid east opponents. Bad loses in conference to Witt and Kenyon. They did go 3-2 against Denison.

Can't believe they made it, hosting, and number 1 seed. do you think they threw one to Pettorini.

d3 baseball parent  You are right.  That's back in my days.  OAC north winner played OAC south winner. No 4 team playoff like now. I think Otterbein won the south and played ONU for the title. I remember this because we (Wooster) beat ONU in our first game and got snowed out in the doubleheader and finished 1 game behind. Etta had a great team. Terry Muholland was there ace . Went on to pitch in the majors.

Etta doesn't make the OAC tourney. When was the last time that happened?

just got home to see Woo split with Witt. Watched the bottom on the ninth. Woo down by to2. Solo homer to bring it to one.  Had the tieing run on first base but the next batter struckout looking..Should be a good finish in the NCAC. Seems like everything is up for grabs.
