Well there is one benefit...Your pitching isnt worn down going into the tourny. For example, if the LEC ends on Sunday they only have two days to rest up pitching. As we know in conference tournys, some teams will use their ace more than once in the tourny, and therefore, wouldnt be able to use their ace on day one of the Regionals. Other than that, I would agree that the GNAC tourny is way too early. Maybe it has something to do with Finals for Classes? Just a thought.

JCON,
I was not doubting UMB pitching at all. I was dead serious in asking how good they were...I really have not seen them play before...and was honestly curious as to how their pitching stacks up. Sorry for the misunderstanding. And by the way, you are a manaic for reacting like that.

I keep reading about how someone thinks UMass Boston can win the tourny. I have never seen them play though. Is their ace comparable to others in conference, and does anyone honestly think they have a shot?

I agree that it affects pitching. But every conference has things that could be changed. For example, The NEWMAC and GNAC have single elimination play-in games on tuesday with the double-elimination starting thursday. The top seeds have a bye in these rounds and can throw their ace against another teams #2 to start a double elimination tournament. Also, in the GNAC each team had 3 double-headers (due to rainouts) in a four day span, on the weekend going into the tournament. Another odd tournament format is the CCC, where in the championship, there were two teams with no losses in tourny play, but the championship was a one game deal.
Basically, I agree that the LEC tourny could be changed, but then again, a lot of conferences should change the way they do it.

I think Williams and Amherst win first round games, then Williams taking down Amherst.
In the Losers Bracket, Ill take Tufts running the table getting into a matchup with Williams in the championship, where Williams is left with more pitching and takes the title.

1st team was.....
Nick Martinho C - Suffolk
Greg Dimarco RF - Suffolk
Jeison King CF - Suffolk
Marc Exarhopoulos DH - Suffolk
Alex Hurley 2B - JWU
Casey Allen UT - DWC
Eric Smolin P - WNEC
Ryan Kravontka SS - WNEC
Those were the only teams that posted anything...Obviously there are a few missing, but the GNAC website was useless and had to get these from individual websites...I think that JWU's Left Fielder was in here too but not positive. And not sure about 3rd
2nd team was....
Tom Horgan 1B WNEC
Travis Schwamb DH WNEC
Justin Walz 2B WNEC
Nick Martinho C - Suffolk
Greg Dimarco RF - Suffolk
Jeison King CF - Suffolk
Marc Exarhopoulos DH - Suffolk

Catch,
Only one guy mentioned anything about the other coaches...Which I agree was inappropriate. However, you have been bashing Smolin this whole time when you went 0-3 with 2 k's against him. Also, I really dont think scouts make up numbers like 91-92 mph. Usually, they are pretty honest. And when did you EVER have a gun on him?

After the sweep yesterday...does anyone think that Keene could still possibly get a pool c bid if they lose in the championship of the LEC tourny?

I would have to say you were right on with that assumption!

Also, I just read that Smolin was throwing 92-93 against JWU. So you are telling me that Burkett throws harder than that. I dont know for sure, but I really think we would have heard much more about him if was throwing 94mph. Your facts arent lining up buddy.

Catch08...pretty upset about that post from before huh? I assume you play in the GNAC?...The one thing I can say is that it did look like alot of the awards were suspect at best. And you speak of players needing to do things in big spots, WNEC did blow everybody out of the water, in the tourny...which is when it counts. It sounds like you are pretty upset about this, but you know that the post from before was pretty accurate in most cases.

after Eastern's sweep today, Wheaton and Eastern Connecticut have to be ranked 1 and 2 (no particular order)...Does Keane drop far? and any projections for the rest of New England rankings?

From a baseball standpoint, WNEC's move may not be the best, but for the school as a whole, im sure its beneficial overall.
