I was told by my son that the improvements to Art Keller Field will not be done by the fall and the Red Men will be playing their home games somewhere in Kenosha. Does anyone know what field they plan on using?
Tremper HS? I would double check on it though.

2 time All-American UWW linebacker A.J. Raebel has been diagnosed with testicular cancer and is beginning chemotherapy next week. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he battles this disease.
A.J. played at Cary-Grove and is a well-liked hard working great kid and all of us here in Trojan Country are keeping him in our thoughts.

I just can't envision a CCIW team ever being to able to recruit the level of talent and depth that Whitewater and Mount Union have at every position.
This may be way off, but......Carthage has only 19 of 149 players from WI. I believe in-State full cost of attending (tuition and R&B) UWW is about $12k vs Carthage as an example which was $36k last year. Where would you go if you had to pay for your school? And, even though there is some endowment $, I don't think there is any way you get that $36k or like tuitions in the CCIW down to near and below $12k. So you have really good WI players passing on Carthage to go to UWW as well as other WIAC schools, not only for the programs, but for the fact it's less than half the cost. I don't know what MUU is in comparison. Guess you need to convince players they have a good chance to play in a CCIW program vs. sit in another, but then you have the $$ issue.....

Just an FYI, Cary-Grove #1 seed plays Providence Catholic #2 seed in the 6A championship game in Champaign on Saturday at 1. CG is appearing in their 2nd final after losing to Libertyville 13-3 in 2004 and of course Provi is going for their 10th State title and their first appearance in the final since they won #9 in 2004.
CG has scored 546 points and only allowed 111 with 6 shutouts and runs the option about as good as you can. Provi's opponents had records of 56 and 25 with 7 going to the playoffs, has a stud RB and great experience in Champaign.
This will be a very good high school football game. My son and I will be there cheering on CG but have very good friends who will cheer for Provi....neutral tailgating is in order.
Other game of note 7A Glendard West and WWS the only other #1 and #2 seed final.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Carthage College football wide receiver Nick Merchut (Sr., Bartlett, Ill.) was invited to play in the "D3 Senior Classic" in Salem, Va., on Dec 5. Sponsored by the Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL), the event pits 90 players from 238 NCAA Division III football programs in North vs. South format all-star game. The game will be played at the Salem Stadium, site of the annual Stagg Bowl, the title game of the NCAA Division III Football Championship.
Congratulations Nick. I know you'll represent the CCIW and Carthage well.
Nice for Nick, congrats....any NFL looks?

Carthage College wide receiver Jeff Koeneman (Sr., Barrington, Ill./Palatine-Fremd, 103.1 receiving yards per game) was named 2009 Wisconsin Private College "Football Player of the Year" and Tim Rucks Wisconsin Private College "Football Coach of the Year."
Congratulations to both on well deserved honors!!
Great Job! I have always had a great amount of respect for Koeno after the shots he took and that he just kept getting back up and doing it again and again.
Nice award for Rucks having put together a nice season!

Now if anyone else had caught him ...

My son played in some 7 on 7's against Mendenhall in high school, the kid is a stud and was a man among boys.
Nice to see Studebaker making an impact!

I was isolating on our D line most of the night. #97 Tim Janacek worked his tail off all night long trying to break free of a lot of hooking and holding on him. I can't believe none of it was called.
Holding? What holding?

Crazy game at Carthage last night. Deja vu allover again (IWU) in the first 3 minutes! All in all you had everything, a blocked punt for a TD, a mishandled fumbled punt return, several INT's, fumbles on both sides, personal fouls, etc. The Red Men could not run the ball, but, NCC D gave us 562 yards passing and we fought back. With the aid of some key NCC penalties, a long interception return and a couple big pass plays, surprisingly we got back in this game. The Cardinals took advantage of our turnovers and were able to score. We could pull within a TD but could never tie it up. Credit their kick return team who managed to give them great field position all night. Their O tore our D apart with a good option play and could run up the middle on us as our our LB's and Safeties were not coming up filling the gaps. Plus it was some of the worst Red Men tackling I have seen. Several times we had contact at the first level but forgot we had arms and would not wrap up! Even with Sulo out (I sure hope he is OK) the #2 and #3 guys were very very good. Fanthorpe made a couple mistakes and we did get some pressure on him but he still made some good throws.
Definitely not the Cardinal's best outing but, they allowed us to stay in the game. A sharper Red Men performance and it may have been closer. Good Luck to NCC.

IWU just dodged a bullet. With 6 and a half left in the third, Rooney threw his second INT, which was returned to the Titan 11. 3 plays later it was 4th and 10. The FG attempt from the 11 was SHORT (how can a kicker be short from the 11?) - score is still 17-0, with the Titans dominating everything but the scoreboard.
GO BLUE!
