GREAT GAME.... GREAT SEASON.... GREAT TEAM.... GREAT COLLEGE.... GREAT PEOPLE....

It has been GREAT getting to be a part of the Catdome community... it was something that I missed an opportunity to do when i was young and it was a GREAT ride watching Aaron... as I said before he's become a GREAT young man because of the people that have touched his life as a 'Cat.... and for that I thank you all....

I'm sure the 'Cats will reload next year and will be a force for another generation... perhaps Aaron will even have a hand in making that happen... we won't know for a while here his journey will take him.... all i know is that this leg of his journey has been AMAZING!!!

I was a little disappointed after reading about the 10 finalists for the 2010 Gagliardi Trophy and Aaron Boehme was not included. You can look at it here:  http://www.d3football.com/notables/2010/11/gagliardi-trophy-finalists
Does anyone know how he/Linfield ranked nationally according to stats?

RedlandPurple,

Boehme compared quite well, but those four had more T-D passes and a higher % completion.    I have seen and heard Feaster (HSU) play and he is awesome.    Better than Boehme?   Close to being equal.    The other three had great stats, but don't know how tough their defensive opposition was.

Here were their team's records:
Feaster        -    HSU          8-2   No playoffs
McLaughlin   -   Lousiana   7-3   No playoffs
   Ray              -   Franklin      9-2   0-1 playoffs
   Watt            -   Trine          11-0  1-0 playoffs

   Boehme       -   Linfield       9-1   1-0 playoffs

Knowing who we beat, I am confident that Boehme ranks well with these other QBs.   A even bigger complaint though is that the one D-end nominated was not Hedin:

Hoffman (selected):  19 tackles, 2.1 per game for a loss and 8 sacks.

Hedin     49 solo tackles, 3.5 per game for loss and 21 sacks.

Hoffman is no doubt a very good player.    But, Hedin should be national defensive player of the year!    In the long list of outstanding Linfield defensive players, Hedin ranks with them.

Another example of eastern bias against the west coast?

GO CATS! GO!

Couldn't agree more on both Aaron and Eric!!

Pat,

I'm not trying to pick a nit here, as you guys did an outstanding job on the team capsules, and that had to have been difficult to do so quickly, but Linfield also had a good run in the playoffs last year.

Wasn't Wartburg Pool A as well?

Again, good job. That's a lot of info to gather. I laughed at the comment about Benedictine.

One other correction is Coach Smith's career record... shouldn't it be 38-11??  unless he was 0-20 somewhere  :-)

I would add it would have been appropriate to mention the three NAIA championships(1982, 1984, 1986) won by Linfield for a total of four national titles. It's my understanding the caliber of play in the NAIA at that time was very comparable to D3, so it seems reasonable to include those titles.

On D3football.com we list only the D-III titles. We didn't list St. John's NAIA titles in the past, either.

Pat

Thanks for fixing the career record!

I mis-spoke earlier with regard to concussions, etc. I did not mean for what I said to be misinterpreted as a poke at Welch. Concussions are extremely serious and I apologize for coming across any other way.  :-[
Hi Momma---I sat next to you at the LaVerne game.  Nice to see you on the board!

I think the Welch thing has been beaten to death.  As a Cat fan--we have much more important things to think about.  Enough said.

Just curious and not trying to be funny...How do the DI and DII teams pass up so many of these great players such as the ones on Linfield?  Boheme seems to have the size and ability.. Over the last 30 years of watching so much high school football I've seen a lot less talented guys go to DI and DII schools on football scholarsips.

Just insight into Aaron's situation.... he played at a HS that ran the wing T.... great HS offense but not one that is going to market a QB... (even though Locker came from a wing T offense they at least showcased his skiils)... secondly he was awkward for D1 schools... they all liked him at their camps (was quarterback of the camp numerous times) but he was 6'5" and 185 when he graduated from HS.... he was also an all league punter, and an all state safety.... he was one of the best receivers in the state at the time but couldn't throw to himself (chuckle)... so they all wanted him around but didn't know where they wanted to play him... even at Linfield they were unsure of where they wanted to play him... as a sophomore he caught 5-6 td passes... so he was a tweener....

all that being said... attending Linfield was the best decision he ever made.... he grew as a young man and a leader... the coaching staff has been patient and guided him in his growth as a young man... what is especially gratifying is to watch his humility (never any quotes that could be put up in a locker room, never derogatory comments about the other team, owning up when need be and having nothing but positive to say about his teammates)... with all the individual accolades the only thing that really matters is winning games and his teammates... he is and will be a better person in the long run for attending Linfield and playing at this level....

so while all this debate has been amusing it's time to put an end to it.... (but hey I'm just a "second stringer")  ;)

so in that vein.... it's all about CLU right now!!! OLINE Protect... DLINE Stop the run!!! Same formula every week for a victory!!!

See you all at the CATDOME!!!

Sources close to the Cat program report that the Cats once again are treating this week as a playoff game. :-)

All NWC team is here:  http://www.nwcsports.com/sports/fball/2010-11/news/allnwc and once again, if you didn't get a spot on this team, you probably did not play football in the NWC.....3 first team QBs????  C'mon....

Absolutely ridiculous.

Just stupid...that is about 1/2 the starting QBs in the conference.  The NWC just had a QB that was selected as the back-to-back NWC offensive player of the year and you're saying he needs to share the 1st team QB spot with not one but TWO other players????  Give me a break.

Absolutely insane!!! But only one is playing this weekend  :-)

Thought you would like that one !!  What a piece of work he is !!

GHC - Is that an actual quote?!

Has anyone seen the all-conference team? I figured it would be released sometime today?

Why yes it is Dee !!  Cracked me up

And that puts the other debate to rest!! :-)
