Blackburn won two conference championships, (one tourney, and the following year's regular season) after Ramsey with Kaneshiro as coach too. And would have competed for many more if he hadn't gone back to Hawaii after his third year.  Ramsey hired Kaneshiro, I would say he stepped down.  I highly doubt he fired himself

FCNews- the reason our new student center wasn't  attached to a new gym is 2 reasons...one, a majority of the money was donated from Senator Demuzio, and 2, the school was already in the process of planning for a brand new state of the art Science building,... Since we only have a tuition of 18,000 this year,  its much tougher for us find the money to build several new buildings at once, since many more people go on to become doctors and researchers rather then big time athletes it makes sense to focus on our academic buildings first.    BC targets a different type of college student, rather then the St. Louis Schools which are not centrally located in the conference, simply based there bunchtime....BC tries to target more First Generation college kids.  Many of the students who have gone through here are kids who are the first to attend a college campus in their family.  Sorry our facilities are an embarrassment to college athletics, we just have other focuses rather then on sports

Regarding the current chat....No SLIAC school will host, or even in my opinion deserves to host a first round game until someones proves that we can do something in the national tournament.  No one has been within 20 pts of winning a game yet.  Lets worry about winning a game first before worrying about hosting a game.
As far as BC shouldn't have hosted the SLIAC Tourney...WHY NOT??? They did what they were supposed to do, win the regular season.  As far as lighting and seating.  We put in NEW lights especially for the occasion.  And had plenty of seating, since not even half of the bleachers were full for the CHAMPIONSHIP game...that may have been because WC was one of the 2 schools but Maryville didnt bring enough to fill their half even.  You werent at the tourney, so don't say we shouldn't have hosted anything.  As far as lighting goes.  Theres several gyms that have various different quirks to them.  MU has walls that seem 50 yards away from the court.....WC has no true heating system just space heaters hanging from the ceiling, Eureka has a warped floor, that cant even be used for Volleyball,  at GC it feels as if you play in a barn...Ever watch a game taking place at U of I....It looks pretty dark to me...This is a D1 school with a questionable lighting situation....They shouldn't host anything either then if thats the basis of hosting is lighting...

BC played a great first half, horrible second half,  the Beavers lack any sort of mental toughness right now, once one thing goes wrong it snowballs into 15,  BC has 2 big, wide bodies, 6'6 and 6'7, unless they learn to become physical the team will continue to be outrebounded 33-16, As far as refs go.... I didnt know putting your hip into a screen was legal, but it is SLIAC basketball, questionable officiating comes with the territory

rmc-45, you guys played very well against BC and totally deserved the win, as for BC, 2 extremely bad losses in the last 2 games,  losing by a total of 84 pts in these 2 games....rmc said they have heart.....BC doesnt seem to have any at the moment.  I dont see them having much of a chance the rest of the season if they continue to play they way they have lately.  While there has been a couple bright spots here and there, as a whole it isnt very good.  hopefully something happens during the break to get this team back into form.  Its hard to believe after the effort they showed against RMC the first time around, and Maryville, that they would come back and play as horribly as they have.

BC goes to play RHIT tuesday... RHIT is always a very well coached team which makes them a tough team to play no matter their skill level, anyone know anything about them?  Blackburn will look to get a win after losing 2 close conference games, games they had their chances and just couldnt capitilize on.

Final from BC...Maryville 67-BC-56, was a battle all the way through.  Both teams played well at times, and played poorly at time....questionable stat of the night-fouls-Maryville who played a full court pressure defense only got called for 14 fouls, while BC who plays a much less pressure halfcourt d was called for 25...BC was hurt by fouls, and also the fact that both of their big men got hurt, one had to go to the hospital to see a hand specialist, while the other rolled his ankle,  Tough loss for BC..
Sidenote from todays game....Head Coach Chandler wasnt at the game, and BC was coached by former player and current student assistant Zeb Hammond...

Big games tomorrow...Very important game for both BC and Maryville, its never a good thing to go down 0-2 in conference, that often times can mean the difference between 4th and 5th place...same with Fontbonne, although I think the bad loss Wednesday was a fluke....no offense to Webster fans, just don't see Fontbonne really being 22 pts worse then Webster.  The game of the Day.....Principia vs Eureka...who'd have thought that Prin and EC would be battling for first place.....ok, so its only been one game, but still........This weekend should really give everyone a better look of who can contend for the SLIAC Tourney and who won't.  Webster is clearly the team to beat, but like I said, its only been one game....

Any predictions for opening night??  Regarding BC vs EC, BC will need to with the same intesity they showed Thursday against RMC-S.  If they can, and if the freshmen can stay within themselves without pushing to hard in the conference opener, BC should be able to do pretty well.  I dont know much about EC, but I think they are in a similar situation, lost a lot from last year's team and still waiting for someone to step up and become the go to guy.
The Fontbonne vs Webster game has easily got to be the game of the night.  What an opener with both teams expected to fight for 1st place.
Maryville and Westminster should be an interesting game, MU and WU both bring a lot back. Is Westminster truly the 3rd best team in conference as believed, and how competive will MU be this year
Prin vs Mac....currently, this may be the cellar, havent heard much about Prin, and Mac has had several BAD losses this year...
Greenville plays a non conference game vs LCC.....

Regarding Lee, he hasn't played at all either game, they also had another guy on the bench in sweats who is taller but thats all i know about him, but not sure how long he will be out.  With him out, RMC-S played 7 players, with all but one starter, #41, played over 30 min.  2 of the starters played all 40 I think it was #20, who had 29 pts, and #10 i think, #12 played 39 because he injured his ankle and went out for a possesion.  #41 got into foul trouble early which forced the Eagles to go to the bench more then I think they wanted to.
RMC-S vs.  Fontbonne will be a very exciting game since both teams really want to push the tempo.  The question will be if RMC will have the legs left to play such an uptempo game with such a short bench, especially coming after the competitive game at BC.

Good win by the Beavers last night.  Blackburn played several freshman, in fact they started 4, with several returners coming off the bench.  10 players were in double figure minutes for the beavers which is a good sign of their depth this year.  This was easily the best game the BC has played to date and hopefully will lead to more good things for the Beavers.  Next game for the Beavers is the conference opener at Eureka.  Its conference time finally!!!...for a week....

Blackburn lost another one.  This time by 28 to Illinois College....Illinois College was allowed to pick up the pace and got too many easy baskets in transition.  If the Beavers don't do anything quick, it will be a VERY LONG season.  They play RMC-S on Thursday, hopefully they can figure out a way to keep a game within 10 pts atleast, any word on RMC-S?

Results from Blackburns game....Blackburn lost by 14, 66-52.  Blackburn had too many turnovers.  If BC could cut down their turnovers down a little, they would have been within 5 pts in both games this year.  IF they can't, it will be a very long season for the Beavers.  Also...Millikin will be having a very tough time in the CCIW this year.  THey like to jump the passing lanes, and I have a feeling the majority of the CCIW will be able to handle it better then the Beavers did last night.

Blackburn loses to MO-Rolla 73-53,  Tough one for the Beavers, Rolla really shot well in their gym, which made it tough for the Beavers to contend with, Tommy Baro led with 17 pts, while 2 freshman, Blake Doehring and Jeremy Lutz had 7 each.  The Beavers play Millikin Monday at home, hopefully they can come back and get a win.  Anyone know anything on Millikin??

Blackburn has put up their roster... quite a difference in age on the team, 5 seniors, 8 freshman, 2 juniors and a sophomore.  Looks like their season will depend on how soon their freshman can become a factor in games.  They do have some actually size this year, with a 6'6 and a 6'7 kid, both with some weight to them, this gives them something they havent had in the last few years, size in the paint.  If the big men can defend and rebound, and if they can find a couple scorers, BC may develop into a team to contend for the SLIAC tourney, and we know anyone can make nationals as long as long they make the con. tourney
