QuoteThey have the mentality and game sense to win big games. Oshkosh lacks that concept.

I wouldn't go that far. I mean, they did beat Whitewater and Elmhurst, with the Warhawks beating down Stevens Point...

I know. Point beat Augustana...on their home court. Perhaps the Augies are a better road team this year...?

Here's the kicker about the WIAC starting up again after the new year. Even though it's a huge game for both team's, it's only 1/4th of the conference season done with. So whoever wins, is still very far away from winning the WIAC.

I say that, and Oshkosh has a road game against Point, and then home again against Platteville. Yeesh.

QuoteOshkosh also has The Marshmallow

I wouldn't say it's the worse nickname out there, but if I was a basketball player i wouldn't want to be compared to a Marshmallow.

DJ "The Marshmallow" Marsh. That sounds like a Berman-ism.

Oshkosh bounces back, winning 81-72 over Tri-State.

DJ Marsh had a bounce back game, scoring 24 points on 9/12 shooting. Miller had 16 and DSA put up 19 more, and was named to the all-tourney team.

Despite the win, this was a pretty sad showing for Oshkosh coming home from Orlando. No way should they have lost to Defiance. But, at least they picked up a win and they can enjoy a break until Finlandia on the 2nd.

But the way Finlandia is playing, I don't know if that one is going to be a breeze  :( :o

Too soon, dude. Too soon  ;) :D ;D

Matt Goodwin didn't start, with Kori Vernon stepping in. Is that just a experiment for Coach Miller, or is this a change in plans for the season?

Well, it's not an award, just a poll. I mean, look around the WIAC and there are Freshmen that are playing out of their mind.

I totally forgot about the PA announcer.

The delay was nice, I got a chance to watch the end of the football game in the SID's office. (Congrats to Whitewater, and Justin Beaver. I'm sure Palmyra, WI is one happy place right now.)

Great game recap by Oshdude. I think the biggest story is Greg Schrimpf. Yes, he does have great games (Elmhurst, Stout) and then their are games like last night it seems he is no where to be found (Same thing against Whitewater).

Last night it just seemed that he was a little bit afraid to put up some open shots, and rather would pass around the perimeter. I know the kid can shoot, so he needs to shoot! Too many open shots passed up last night, and really, Oshkosh had two options because of that : Matt Miller and Jordan Johnson. Those two guys offensively and defensively led the Titans back to a point after a 20 point defecit.

This loss is only going to push this team harder in practice and in the Tournament in Orlando. They were going to be blow outs to begin with, and they will. Finlandia is playing a lot better these days, but I don't suspect them to be a challenge on the 2nd.

Which brings up the next mega-match up for Oshkosh, and that will be on Jan. 5th at Quandt. I expect both Point and Oshkosh will only have one loss going into that game, and that both teams will be in the top 15.

And for the doubters out there about Oshkosh, and wondering if they are that "good". Remember, Augustana was the team to knock off then #1 Washington U and they were predicted to finish #1 in the CCIW. Last night, in the first half, Augustana showed why they are considered one of the best teams in the nation. The second half, showed that Oshkosh is that good running on half strength, to cut a 20 point lead down to one.

So yes, even in a loss, and even scoring significantly lower then the season average, Oshkosh is that good.

Augustana will be fine in the CCIW if Swetalla plays like he did tonight.

Ruch vs Swetalla has to be a fantastic match-up after seeing both guys play.

Oshkosh was picked to finish 4th, and I think they will do better than that.

We'll find out more about this team tomorrow night against #9 Augustana.

You can listen to the game at www.uwosh.edu/wrst. I'll be on the call. Game starts at 7pm.

After reading the Mitchell Report, and the players in it, I'm glad there is D-III Basketball to distract me from it.

I love baseball, and it's by far and away my favorite sport. Today, the little boy in me is crushed reading some of the names in the report.

Another sad day in sports.

How good is Carleton this year? I see they are 8-1 now...

Don't want to take away from the Mount Union/Whitewater game...

Oshkosh yesterday announced that Pat Cerroni will be the Head Coach getting the nod over Daryll Sims and former EC Head Coach Todd Hoefner.

There are rumors that the adminstration wanted Sims to be the head coach so Oshkosh had one of the first african-american coaches in the WIAC.

It was an interesting race. Cerroni might be the right guy for Oshkosh, but his resume was nowhere nearly as impressive as Sims and Hoefner.

Getting a first place vote is quite the surprise. Would that be a WIAC SID picking Oshkosh #1???

I totally agree with you, cubs, that road stretch will make or break Oshkosh. If they beat Augustana on Saturday, would not be surprise to see them even move into the top 10, and probably gain a couple more first place votes.

But don't get me wrong, I don't think this is the best team in the nation. It's a very good team, with a totally different personality from the previous three seasons. Which is a good thing, a good thing that is working and winning.

Also, if you haven't gotten the chance yet, you should listen to the interview on the front page. Amazing, truly amazing.

QuoteWill you be announcing the score of the stagg bowl during your broadcast??

I like the fact that the CCIW has a nice sense of humor  ;D

The Stagg Bowl will be well over by the opening tip-off. We will make a point of it though, like we always do for our broadcasts.

Now, if you are expecting the PA announcer to call out the score... :D

Thanks to everyone who helped me out. I'm very appreciative, and if you would like, I'll be more than willing to give a scouting report for Oshkosh.

I'll be broadcasting the Augie vs Oshkosh this Saturday at Kolf, and was just wondering without Delp, who should Oshkosh look out for, and what kind of make up will this Augustana team be?
