BoBo, I too have heard that about Andy Dick and IWU, but I can neither confirm nor deny the story.

Sounds like he stated at IWU just as long as John Belushi stayed at UW-Whitewater before getting kicked out. Seems like Belushi's actual tenure at UWW can never be confirmed (somewhere between one semester and one year).

Funny you should bring up Belushi.  His bio says IWU was his first choice but he couldn't get admitted! :D

Belushi  was a most unusual UWW student.  Most are turned down by more than one school before settling upon UWW.

UWW admission stanards are about as high as the loose moral Euro trash women that frequent there

I just got done watching the trailer for the D3 movie from the front page. I realize it's a comedy, but does this really put D3 in a good light? I'm as big a fan of lowbrow comedy as anyone, but couldn't they have made up a ficticious team AND league? Whoever from the NCAA that signed off on letting them use the Division III label wasn't thinking.

I guess I'm just an "old fart," but having watched the trailer I can think of a whole lot of ways to better spend my money than going to see the movie.

Likewise

... referring to the movie ;)

I personally think the movie looks funny.  If I was 70 years old I would not think its funny.  But then again I will probably be a  beleaguered grouch bum when I am 70 years old.

Congratulations to the Dutch!

Missed the game yesterday...work. Weren't there highlights of the games before in the past on Centrals website? I looked, but did not see?

Interesting calls during Friday's high school game....I and the announcers (televised) have never heard of one of the calls/rules before or the motion call that the ref showed before announcing the call.

Illegal block below the waist on the lead blocker was called on the defense. (called twice)

The ref, who looked to be experienced (older), had complete control of the game. We were just wondering if the refs at this level had a meeting to make sure all the rules were enforced.
Has anyone heard of this call before? I tried looking it up, but could not find.

AZD

NFHS rules prohibit blcking below the waste period.  I had a game about 5 years ago on a punt return the punting team as the return team had a wall blocking for the returner, one of the punting teams players went and took out the wall by diving and their legs and I dropper the flag.  The rule book does not say blocking bleow the waste for offensive players it says blocking below the waste so we flagged the punting team.

I'm not sure this is entirely true, in Texas I think you are able to cut block anywhere on the field, just like in college.

I think DF2k4 is saying that the punting team dove a players legs to break then wall when they were the ones on defense.  This is quite different that cut blocking.  Cut blocking applies to the tackle box and is only used for blocking purposes on the offensive side of the ball.

I have seen a few people say that the BV game was a ugly. It sure was. If you look at the score you would think the Beavs never had a chance. They turned the ball over 7 times. Take a look at the Florida vs. Miami Ohio game. Score looked lopsided but the Miami turned the ball over 5 times and if you watched that game you know how close they were to doing the unthinkable.

Willie I am not going to dispute your math but I am going to dispute the comment about the loses of players. I played at the d2 level and the d3 level. We lost maybe 2 kids during camp. We also maybe only had 1 or 2 not show for camp and that was rare. The two programs that I was apart of frowned on losing kids during camp. It doesn't look good in the admins eyes. If every school is over recruiting and losing 20 kids that's a heck of a lot of tuition going down the drain.
What is z saying to get 170 kids?

New discussion topic:  how does everyone think vince b will fair at Cornell?

I will agree with what daddy is saying. Wartburg has caught flack for the amount of kids that they brought in before. Heck I might have ridiculed them about it.  I don't believe in the philosophy. Please don't think I am firing up on UD. I am really impressed with what they have done and I see them as scary team with Z running the show. Buy how many of the 170 have any talent?  It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

All 170 could have talent...but only 50-60 will ever see any playing time.  I don't really get it, but I figure Coach Z knows a whole lot more about his team than any of us.  I'm just ready to see it all play out on the field 4 weeks from now.

Been a while guys and girls. A lot of changes in my life. Pretty interesting last few months.
Saw one preason poll with central at 10 and Coe at 20.

Whats the story from the Loras/Simpson game.  This surprised me quite a bit to see the score.  I was really thinking that Simpson had a shot to be a contender this year.  Early season losses do not help that case.  Next week the Beavers head down to Indianola, which has not been a friendly place for them of recent.  It will be interesting to see how the outcome of that game goes.

Congrats to all the winners yesterday, and I hope that no one suffered from any major injuries.

Has the White Silly showed his face this season.  I have been hoping for a sighting.

A late congrats to the Beavers on the win yesterday against Peru State.  I was a bit concerned about this game due to the size that Peru State had and they had just come off of a big win against Jamestown a week ago.

Looks like good things might be brewing in Storm Lake again this year, time will only tell.  Next weekend is the start of conference play, and anything can happen, we all know that from last year.

Congrats to the Dutch on the big win yesterday, and to Coe as well.  I like seeing IIAC teams beat the MIAC and WIAC any day of the week.  That can only help us for two bids come play off time.

Good morning guys and gals.  Been a while since I have been on and I wanted to drop a quick note and wish all teams good luck today, especially the Beavers.

I am in my office working today and I wanted to see if anyone knew if the Iowa vs. ISU game is being web streamed anywhere or if it can be listened to online.  I am at a loss on this one.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Klops
