I heard this weekend that Apprentice is going to fill the CUA spot on the schedule for all/most ODAC teams.
Anyone else heard this?
I know they are for Emory. Not sure about anyone else. Congrats to RMC. Represent the conference well in the playoffs. Waspers, learn from the first part of this year and bring home the title next year. A lot to build upon based upon the 2nd half of the season.

To get back to the ODAC I was thinking about Catholic leaving again and it sent a cold shiver down my spine. The only two leagues, remotely close to the ODAC, that will probably have open dates the 3rd or fourth week of the season are the Liberty League in NY and the SAA across the entire Southeast. The SAA loses Wash U and Chicago the same year we lose Catholic, going to 7, and the Liberty league also loses members dropping to I think 6 teams in a few years. Every other conference until you get to the MIAA or the Texas conferences will have started conference season by then. This is not good.
I know some of you are opposed to SVU, but all I can say is SVU's longest ODAC trip, to Guilford, would be an hour shorter than their shortest NJAC road trip, to Frostburg. Anyone want that week 11 bye week W&L had one year? Yeah, that's real helpful for a good season.
Maybe we can set up a Week 3 or Week 4 ODAC/SAA challenge. I call W&L and Birmingham Southern! But who draws the short straw to go to Hendrix or Millsaps? I bet Guilford, who tries not to go more than 10 miles from home, will just love those bus rides!
Emory used to play Millsaps back in the 90's. Good times on the way down there on the bus. The trip back was nonstop after playing in 100 degree weather with high humidity. Lots of sleeping on the trip back.

There's still an EH guy hanging around, just hardly get a chance to post. I enjoy reading all of your posts and still participate in the Pick Em's.

Macon just recovered 2 onside kicks in a row and scored off the first one. Emory forces fumble and will now knee the ball to closeout out the game. Great win for the waspers today. Totally different team this year as compared to last year.

It amasing me how few ODAC titles HSC is winning. Outside of football I can't remember another sport winning an ODAC title other than b'ball in 2006/2007. I don't believe baseball or soccer have ever won a title and its been a real long time since our lax team won one. W&L dominates tennis/GC dominates golf. Maybe HSC will never win another cup !!!!
Never is a long time. That being said I feel like HSC is really devoting resources to a few headline sports. It might be detrimental to others. No real info to back it up, just a feeling. To be honest it is a sound strategy. Focus on your strengths and what will get you the most attention. Or it just could be a tough run. The rise of Lynchburg's athletic department might be part of the problem as well. They seem very strong where HSC is weak lately and weak (or in the case of football not interested) where HSC is strong. It might be siphoning off the talent. E&H is the school I wonder about. They can't seem to be competitive in anything anymore.
Our swimming team rocks!!!!! In all seriousness, the athletics department lost several longtime members and those individuals were extremely difficult to replace. Then you throw in some hires that never materialized like everyone thought they would and you end up with a string of .500 seasons. There seems to be more of a focus again to have Emory people running the teams. I think Curt will do well and the new women's basketball coach is a great hire also. The softball team improved this year. I think as a whole, each team will be more competitive within the next 2-3 years. The new president believes in having a very competitive athletics department and we all know that having support from the top makes a huge difference.
There has also been some talk of E&H taking over the VI equestrian program so that could add another sport to the mix depending on how many transfers that brings in.
Yes. Sorry bout that. I'm sure most readers had no clue what I was talking about.

There's a new sheriff in Emory that'll be announced tomorrow.
Hokie, Hokie, Hokie, Hi...
Glad Bud is finally getting a chance to be a head coach
I think that might be wishful thinking for E&H. TheScoop is reporting it will be the Hokies offensive line coach, Curt Newsome. E&H class of '82. Bud Foster may go somewhere, but I don't think it will be E&H unless he's willing to take a huge pay cut...
Sorry that was a joke. Newsome is a great hire and has many contacts throughout the state.

Perhaps E&H can look into Chris McComas?

A little touch of Marty Ball in this powerpoint, don't you think?
Enjoyed the article, thanks for posting.

If we don't get Ginn, Newsome, or Mack Brown, I wonder if Coach Favret would be interested.
Maybe his admiration for Coach Wacker would make this his dream job....

I was surprised to learn of Nash's selection as well, simply because of the turnovers. That said, he is very good and did compete well against Linfield, the #2 team in the country at the time. Maybe that was the difference maker, I really don't know. There is always next year and I'm certain both of these guys will be on the radar for local, regional and national selections if they can dupicate their efforts in the 2014 season.
i think the rushing td disparity, paired with nance's strong performance in the playoffs carried the day for him - either way, both young men are very deserving, and you're correct, both have another year...maybe max can use this as motivation to come back even better next year - i saw him make 4 or 5 bad reads this year...maybe he can reduce that number
Were they all on 9-21?

The only two names I've heard mentioned as potential targets so far are Jack Ginn and Curt Newsome. Supposedly we're doing another national search this time around.
My personal feeling is that I would be shocked if they hire someone who is not an alumni(or has close ties to the college) this time around.
