BV  vs Central -  honestly that forecast would seem to favor Central  If you look at BV rushing this year with the exception of Waldorf (can't really count that) and Dubuque, BV's rushing attack has been pretty anemic.

I believe that this game will come down to defense and the ability to win the close games. BV has shown this throughout the season by picking up big wins against Wartburg and Loras when they needed to. With the exception of the Luther game, BV has proved that they can win the close games. Defensively the edge will go to the Beavers as they lead the league in points allowed at just 13.6 points per game. The biggest factor in the game (as you alluded to earlier) will be the weather but the Beaver ground attack has both of its backs in the top 10 individual rushers in the conference ( #3 - 719 yards and #6 - 434 yards respectively) where as the Dutch's leading rushing comes in at 9th with 379 yards in 8 games. I honestly believe that the weather and the rushing advantage go to the Beavers. Beavers 35 - 7.

Klop - did you get to the game saturday or know anyone that did? I last checked in the fourth and BV was up 14-7 when I got back BV had lost 21-14. What happened?

No I did not make it up to the game.  I did have the change to listen to the second half and things were not good.  They had the lead going into the 4th quarter 14-0.  Gave up 3 unanswered touchdowns in the final frame to lose.  Cory D. took a pass down to the 10yd line with under a minute to go and drive stalled at the 1yd line.  Pretty disapointing.

Ok Sounds like they were doing ok but just crapped out towards the end. Saw that the offense helped up alright with pearey at the helms. Also saw that svendsen and bert had good games as well.

Can we get at least to 1297 in the next 15 minutes by offering up our favorite tailgating foods?
Just food for right now. Beverages are a different topic.

"It would not surprise me to see Missouri play for the National Championship, baring they make it out unscathed against the Big 12.  I think the only team that could stop them would be Texas and/or Oklahoma if and when they face in the Big 12 Championship game."

I agree that Mizzou will make it to the big 12 title game but they will get beat by OU. If teams find a way to keep Maclin(sorry if i misspelled it) from getting out of the blocks and getting something going Mizzou is in big trouble.

I agree with this assessment of BV. A lot of the problems we have had in the past have come from having a problem with our trenches. There have been a few good d line and o line men but it needs to improve. Not enough pressure on the QB in key 3rd downs and poor blocking on pass plays have been BV's Achilles heel the last couple of years.

BV has a capable QB and WR core. I have played with most of them and I know that they can all play. Like Klop eluded to before its going to be won with teamwork and in the trenches.

In my three years on the board it seems to me that we usually act as CHEERLEADERS for our respective schools. I am here to suggest that during this IIAC season we support but also CRITIQUE our various teams.  I have recently offerred critiqued my school's team (Luther) and have had some great dialogue with others....both Norse and supporters of other teams.

IMHO it would make the postings much more interesting if we would analyze the strengths and weaknesses ....the pros and cons....of the teams we observe and support/oppose.

The off-season can be given to children, restaurants or whatever.  I'm all for that too.
BUT LETS PLAY FOOTBALL !!

I like the way you think.  I think you and WH are on the same page.  Lets not sugarcoat anything and lets get down to business.  I will give me honest opinion of the Beavers and anyone else can add to this.

On offense they have to run the ball and protect the QB.  Over the past year the issues have come from these areas.  We either gave up to many sacks or could not establish a running game.  Without the running game the db's can sit back on their haunches and wait for the ball.  Its makes for long days.

On defesne we have to put pressure on the QB with the boys up front.  We have to have a solid 4 man pass run or else things will be sketchy.  We can not just hope to linebacker blitzes to distrupt the offense.  That is taking a key person out of pass coverage and if the sack does not occure you are leaving yourself open for a big play.  3 and longs are another spot that needs improvement.  We have to get the boys off the field and get the ball back into the offenses hands.

Special Teams neesd to be solid.  We have to cover the punt/kick and set up good returns.  The kicking game will be key and lets hope that Sly can be replaced as the punter so he can concentrate on defense only.

Lastly is attitude.  The guys have to mesh well and trust that the other guys will be there to make a play.  They can not get caught up in whos girlfriend is fat or who hates who.  Like the old Yankees manager said there is nothing wrong with a team that hates eachother.  They just can not let that get in the way of winning ball games.  I totally agree with this statment.  You do not have to like your team, but you do have to mesh for 60 minutes of football.  After that you can go your seperate ways.  I am not promoting this as the stellar form of team building.  But I have been a part of teams who worry more about whos who at the zoo than taking care of business at hand.

UNL....wow, probably would have walked on huh Beaverfan?
Or just get laughed at by another UNL player?

No just would have gone to school...I'm surprised BeaverofYore didn't get a full ride (from UNL) considering the fact that he could tackle horses and kick 45+ yard field goals haha. In fact i heard that he once tossed a hay bail so far that it went all the way around the world and came back and hit him in the back of the head.

BF3208....Talked to your second oldest brother the other day.  Gave him a hard time about a facebook fish picture.  He told me about your job in Lincoln...good luck with that.  I might be moving to Minneapolis this winter, so I was getting some information from him and harrassing him as well.

58 more pages till I buy japalano QT hot dogs for everyone on the site!!!  That is if we hit 1300 before kick off!

Because of Recent storms in the South Minneapolis Region I will be up there from the 12th of Sept until however long it takes to get houses looked at. So just let him know when you'll be up because chances are i'll be up there still too.

Let's get some good talking points going on here so I can become a karma giver/taker by the end of the week.

If you had not chosen the school that you did, but instead had gone to one of the other conference schools, which one would it have been and why?

Much as I don't like them as a rival, I would probably have gone to Simpson.  They have a nice campus, strong academics, medium size town with close access to Des Moines and not too far from home.

Now I feel like I need another shower or something after saying all that nice stuff about Simpson.   ;D ;D ;D  I'm gonna wash that school right out of my hair.  LOL

If I i had not attended BV i would have probably gone to Luther in the IIAC. I liked the academic programs they offered and the Campus setting was nice. Outside of the IIAC I looked at St. Johns, St. Thomas, St. Olaf, Gustavus Apholphus and visited Macalaster in St. Paul ( my brother went there so I had to visit). I liked St. Thomas because of their Business school and St. John because of their campus setting. It truly was one of the nicest campuses i hve ever been on. St. Olaf and Gustavus Adolphus were my other choices because of their academics and small town feel.  Macalaster was more or less my dad wanting me to go there because my brother did but my academics weren't up to there standards. If i hadn't decided to play football in college though i would have went to UNL.

GO BIG RED!

Another Knight fan entered the world at 1:56 this morning and God is chuckling away after giving me 2 girls.
Elisa Joy (Ellie) is 7 lb, 2 oz and 19 inches long. Has a nice head of blonde hair like her mom and sister and is quite a cutie if I do say so myself.
Mom and baby are doing excellent.
I am beat.
For the last 4 weeks I've had my phone on me at football practice and even the slightest twitch or sound had me going for it. Go figure my wife calls me for over an hour last night trying to get a hold of me and I never heard a thing. She got a hold of Coach WIlson and he tracked me down.
Its going to take quite a while to make up for that one.

Congrats WH
