Congrats to UMHB for kicking the crap out of Trinity!I just see the ASC football conference is a whole lot better than the SCAC!BUt don't take it personal SCAC fans. ASC all conference 1st team offense selection was kind of suspect in my opinion. Especially the running backs. Quinton should have been on that first team!T.J. barber is a great back, but I really didnt hear anything on him besides the preseason o player of the year. Maybe that's why he was first team.If you look at the stats for Quinton, they are unbelievable. I mean his yards per carry and his long runs.Congrats to UMHB o-line for 1st team. That is fair because they have put up incredible numbers in the run game. No1 should complain because last year HSU o-line including tight end (Shelby) were first team except for 1player. Congrats to ARNOLD for being excepted to Aztec Bowl. That's 3 o-lineman in 3years for HSU.(Conry, Knox, and now Arnold). That tells you alot about the O-line coach at HSU and how hard the players work. This is the first year that I didnt see a HSU d in the 1st or 2nd team. and if there is one on the 2nd team then I apologize. I wish we could do a SCAC vs ASC challeng in football. Kinda what d1 basketball does. At least the top 4 or 5 teams in the conference play in week 1. UMHB, HSU, MISS COLL, and a toss up in ASC for 4 and 5, and TRINITY, MILLSAP,DEPAW, and I don't know anyone else.lol. But this will get rid of the talk of the best conference in football.

Congrats to UMHB for destroying the Conference! I just hope they represent the conference well and get to the stagg bowl not only for themselves but to strengthen the asc. What about MC? Did a weak non-conf scedule hurt them? Congrats to HSU for winning the track meet and keeping the Wilford Trophy! The offense for HSU hasn't missed a beat and that's huge. Hopefully MCM will win one of those games to call it a rivarly. I believe HSU will get a few pieces for the defense(they always do) to help that 0! Now finding a running back like Quinton Jones will be hard, but Quinton proved people wrong when they said it was going to be hard to find someone just as good as Lance Moore. Who knows. That O-line is so good that they will keep the offense and running game in good standards. If HSU doesn't find some pieces for the d, i think changing what they do will help. The d they run leaves the db's(especially the corners) in more a man to man, and at this moment they just don't have that strength. But I do believe they will at least go 8-2 next year. I'm anxious to find out who Coach K will replace for the Linfield game. I think they should try to play Trinity if that's possible! That would be interesting instead of trinity playing tlu or the old asc kangaroos. Good Luck to UMHB!!!

HSU needs to improve its speed on defense.  That has been where they have not matched up well with UMHB.  Offensively, they have always been a threat.

Totally agree and i assume recruiting efforts will reflect that.
I disagree. Well it depends on which side of the ball you are talking. HSU defense has always (besides this year) been faster that UMHB offense.Sure UMHB got big plays and it was because of mixed tackles or trick plays. HSU from the past were so quick that usually over ran the option or the sweep and the qb and good running backs jsut made great cutbacks. Last year I saw the corner from HSU run down Thrasher twice and the db'z were never beaten deep! Now UMHB defense has given HSU o problems because of disquises and the speed. UMHB has had some small d-linemen from time to time, but they were very quick and strong!Their whole front seven on d has been faster than HSU o-line. They run a great scheme against HSU. HSU usually at times tries to over power people with their speed by running the same plays. Even against UMHB they do not do anything different (Cocky) so UMHB has at least 5 to 6 games of film to see what HSU runs and what they are good at. But having more speed on o than HSU d (except this year) is pushing it.

I was very disappointed with HSU's performance on Saturday. Their fans hardly made any noise, and it seemed their team just gave up in the second half. Sure they were playing a very dominant UMHB side which in my opinion will be playing for a National Championship on Dec 15th but it was a disgrace to see the team fall apart in the second half and made a mockery of slogans such as "the winningnest team in Texas" and "pursuing unchartered grounds" I guess they will be pursuing unchartered grounds this year, unranked for the first time in years and not getting to play in the playoffs, unless by some miralce they manage to win the ASC, and after watching the game on Saturday that is not going to happen.
I totally agree with this. We all kow that this is not HSU football, but the fans are usually good sportsmen! They are not used to what's happening to the football team this year, so Being the winningest team in texas is what they have to fall back on. They should understand that they are in a major rebuilding season and going 7-3 is not bad record consedering that they will lose 3 games to at one point 3 top 10 teams! Keep your heads up HSU!!! You can't be the best all times, sooner or later people will catch up to you, and UMHB this year is just way better. Last year I really thought HSU was better because of the athletes they had, but UMHB coaches did a hell of a job and on special teams. Godd Job uMHB and hope u beat the best in Wisconsin conference to let people up north know that ASC can compete with northern teams.

(If HSU can handle the defensive pressure, they have a great chance.  UMHB's speed has been difficult for them the past few games.  If HSU can stop UMHB's running game, then they have a chance)
You're right! But the key word in that statement is IF!!!I don't think they can stop them at all. Honestly, I don't think the db's or the defense is smart enough to play against UMHB. We all all know (if you follow UMHB vs HSU games) that UMHB will throw a trick play in from time to time to take the momentum from HSU! This year they may can spread UMHB out and score, but stopping them will be a huge problem for HSU! A great game early, but UMHB i believe will wear and tear them!HSU doesn't have the bedt like last year and in 04! And the speed for HSU is way down! Last year first game was special teams. HSU had a great defensive game plan! UMHB out played them in special teams with 35 running the muff punt back to the 3. Thrasher breaking long kickoffs. The block field goal. Great programs will be showcased, and we should really see how good Feaster is. I honestly think he can be just as good as Neal!!!@#@#&@&!!! We shall see. That's why we play the game

On another note, Congrats to HSU for holding on and pulling out the victory against a very tough team in a hostile environment. They're still a little shaky on defense, but they're getting better. They will have to step it up for this week UMHB! The corner for HSU #22 has made the most progress out the db'z in my opinion. He's made a couple big plays in the past couple of weeks. The breakup at the end of the game against LC and the int he took for 35yds to set up a touchdown that HSU went up by 14 (i think) The offense for HSU is for real, but in order to beat UMHB they will have to step it up on defense this year and SPECIAL TEAMS. Last year the first game was about special teams because HSU stopped the offense but a big kickoff return by UMHB, a blocked field goal, a muffed punt returned to the 3 yard line all by UMHB. UMHB has just found ways to beat HSU in the past couple years thank to great coaching schemes for UMHB. This should be a great weak for the ASC. I just hope this game is competitive(i beleive it will). I think HSU can put points on UMHB, but containing them is going to be a prob. But that's why we play the game. Well hope all teams in ASC have a great preparation week.

We all know from the past that UMHB-McM game was going to be a blow out! McM doesn't have the physical abilities to match up with UMHB! They have the talent to play with anyone in the conference, but lacks a little heart. Coach Gray will give them that drive and motivation with years to come. It takes time. The scoreboard is their for a reason. Backups that doesn't play as much wants to showcase their skills as well. I know last year's HSU team backups looked to score everytime their on offense, and the defensive wants to shut down an opponent. That's what an offensive is taught to do. If I was an offensive coach and I'm up big with my backups, then I'm going to call the same plays to get them game experience for next year and to have them prepared just in case a starter gets hurt. If there's a such thing as runnning up the score, then I think it would be leaving the starters in for almost the entire game while the score is out of reach. Kind of what OU did to Tulsa, and it came back to bite them in the colorado game. But don't BLAME the Coaches for getting their backups game experience.

It's been awhile since I logged on! It seems like UMHB are playing like champions and have separated from the pack.  MC and HSU should be a great game and a battle for second place. HSU-DB's are lacking without the two corners from last year! Rumor is they are both coming back in the Spring but that's a long time. We are talking about this year lol! HSU defense is still in trouble and like I said before if they can't stop the pass(and they can't) it's going to be a long season! They are not dominant as last yeat or before and I believe teams will think they can actually beat HSU this year. Thanks to the football gods that HSU offense is high caliber. Not downing the defense, but MC will give them a tough time, and I would not be surprise if they beat HSU! Remember last year MC had HSU 14-0 1st, until the HSU defense stiffend with the n#24(corner) intercepted the ball in the endzone, and o just dismantled MC. I think HSU should go to a 5db or 6 against MC, kind of what they did against LC, but trying to go a lil man like they did against LC will be a sad story next sunday. On a positive note they will be ok as long as that d-line play like they did against LC. Good Job! 7sacks! they will need it more agains MC and I think they will do it. It should be a good 1.......
Question: Are the McM players not as good as we thought or is it the coaching staff, because it seems to me that the samething is happening! But at least they keep decent QB's. #1 is a player

In my opinion HSU defense (secondary) is in trouble! The o will put up points and can win a shoot out with anyone! The secondary has lost a lot of talent from last year! They lost all conferences players safety(Cody Deaver)and cornerback(KeKe Sims)! The other Keke corner was also a great talent along with Revada at safety! The 2 corners who are both shut down especially Sims each had another year to play but choose other things. Do anyone know why? In my opinion if they were back there non of the deep balls would have happen! They both lead the conference in pass deflections and only gave up a touchdown apeice which were one corner slip on a slant and the other missed judged a ball! Another fault I seen with the corners is the the poor tackling! The corners last year were good sound tacklers and Sims lead the team in tackles for about 5 or 6 weeks into the season! I hope those guys come back during the season lol because I think you can get by with mediocore safeties, but weak corner play can be dangerous in this leage! La.College, Miss College, Howard Payne, Sul-Ross, TLU and so on
