Messages - Black Panthers

#1
I have not been able to get on here much lately for my computer crashed on me a few weeks back. But the Panthers are riding high. Who would had thought it that with two weeks left in the season that Ferrum would have a shot at the conference. I bet no one would had thought they would be in this situation right now at the start of the season. After a win against Greensboro next week will of course be a strong NCW team. Nice win to the Wesleyan boys on beating CNWHO yesterday. If somehow a gift from the football gods will give Ferrum a win Saturday They will have a shot at the who. Come on Panthers. You control your own destiny.  ;D  Not too many other teams can say that this late in the season.

Belive me I would love to get some others to join in order for the Panthers to take over this site ;). But unfortunately for me the ones that would like to join are football players themselves like my roommate is and they are not allowed to write anything on this site.

Im just wondering . Am I the only panther fan in here? Who cheers for what school and what school is the most represented in here? So far it looks like CNU from the short time I have been here. Am I wrong?

I'm really looking forward to this weekend's game. I'm not going to make any prediction as to who will win but I do believe that the game will be a close one. Myself I think the Panthers will get 4 wins in the USAC. Anything more of course will be just extra icing on the cake.

I read, that link to what that newspaper guy wrote about SU's team. Its sad that he pretty much admits that SU cares more about getting the players money than it care about putting a decent team on the field. A college can have both a strong presence in the community and a strong team on the field. Why does it need to cheapen one for the other? I know SU's reputation is being a strong music school. I cannot imagine the college keeping a piano teacher if that teacher was not teaching them the proper skills. Even if she was a person that was involved in areas outside the college. The newspaper guy was also wrong by saying no one should ever say its time to get rid of a coach. If SU cannot win any conference games or any games really why have a program? It looks like after reading the article that SU has made it clear that they want a full roster and that's what they care about. Just " SHOW ME THE MONEY!" is what they are saying. But pretty soon the reputation of not caring to win is going to catch up to them, and they will have a hard time filling the roster. Not to mention the seats in the stands. That's my two cents for the day.

Congratulations to Mike Vann on getting the USAC rookie of the week award. I cant belive we are now 2-0 in the conference. Pretty soon you other guys are going to have to start giving Ferrum some respect.

What ever dude, take a chill pill and relax. 8) Like I wrote before fans and tail gaiting do not make for a good stadium. If you recall and go over my notes that I wrote originally, this all started when I suggested having a top list of stadiums of how nice they are. Not the fans enjoyment/tail gating, ect. that is a totally different list. I would put BC in the top 5 of fan participation, tailgating, pep band but not even close when it came to the colleges stadium. I first wrote at how nice SU's stadium was how I wish we (Ferrum) had it. But if I was putting the fan atmosphere in on this list, which I'm not then SU would be a awful place. The crowd was quite, no pep band and the cheer leaders were ugly to look at. You want to make this such an issue to include everything from fans to the brand of hot dog a college sells at the food stand to even how far a visiting team has to walk. Oh poor baby.... the visitors don't have a locker room as close as they would like it to be at some places. Maybe getting some exercise will help some of these teams out.

Prediction.... the Panthers over the Cougars this week 30-17

When I made the suggestion on having a top 10 or 20 of D 3 stadiums I was thinking of just the facility itself. Getting into crowd atmosphere, tailgating is too much of a pain to sort out, But being able to judge nice stadiums as CNU's, SU's are easier to judge over a place like Bridgewater's place. The Eagle fans have a great atmosphere with loud fans and a small student band but the stadium is not very up to date. Way too much bickering and politics can play into choosing a top 10-20 if you try to factor fan involvement, marching bands, tailgating, ect. Just keep it simple. Just the facilities itself when choosing a top list.

USASAC Picks for this weekend:

Ferrum over Averett by 7 points.

E&H over Methodist by 2 TDs.

NCWC over Maryville by a last minute field goal.

Guilford over Greensboro by 4 TDs.

and...

This pains me to type, but CNU over SU by 20 points.

Your crazy. SU will be lucky to score 7 points with the offence they have. I say CNU by at least 30.

Here are some cool pics of the SU/FC game last week. http://www.whitepostsports.com/collegiatesports/fb092207/
My two favorites are #13 and 33. I just wish the scoreboard had a different score on it. ::) They also have pics of the Bridgewater game as well. Incase the direct link to the FC game wont work (I have had trouble with it today at times) go to www.whitepostsports.com for its home site.
Love those pics. Thanks UJ. I f I could give karma I would give you a point.

I went to the game on Saturday up in Winchester and had a great time. Ryan and everyone is right that SU's stadium is great. It has to be the best in the USAC and prob. in the top 10 in all of D 3. Ryan you guys at d3football.com should have an article on what are the top 10 stadiums in D 3. That would make for good reading and see what the colleges offer. I wish Ferrum would put some money into our place and put in lights. My only suggestion for SU would be to open up the visitors concession stand for the game. You had one for us but it was closed for some reason and we had to walk to the other side to get any food. Other than that I was envious of your place. Now as for the game, MAN....... SU sucks!!!!!!. I thought we had a bad offence but I will never complain after watching what you all do. Not once did you try any trick plays and you weren't very creative when it came to first downs. You did pass the ball some in the first quarter but after that, nothing. It was all run and most of the time up the middle. I have to admit I did get a little nervous when your special teams were making some big plays against us. My boys Mike and Matt had a combine 270 yards and 4 TD's! I don't know what our Panthers drank at half time but I hope they continue to do it the rest of the year. That 3rd qt. was one of the most exciting I have ever seen in panther football in my short 3 years being here.

Uncle Jessie, Thanks for the link to the game notes and also the link to the reasoning as to why SU wants to leave the USAC. As the game notes say in this up coming game between the Panthers and you guy's you can see we are in the same boat in terms of offence. Your guy Barnes was the mastermind that put this system in place in the late 90's and why we don't get rid of it as well I have no idea. Neither team will ever be in a shoot out that's for sure. Its a good system to run part of the game if you have the personnel as we have done at times in the past but I have always thought you automatically put yourself in an disadvantage using it all the time. Im going up to SU this weekend for the first time. I've been curious to see what your stadium looks like and after reading the around the region about SU's stadium I'm looking forward to it.

All this talk about Shenandoah possibly moving out of the USAC caught me a little surprised. If the school president wants out of the USAC Im sure it will happen. Myself I would hate to see SU leave the USAC. They have become a pretty good rival to us. I think adding teams like LaGrange and Huntington would be a bad move for the USAC. The travel expenses would be huge. My boys are coming off a nice win last Saturday. This week will be more challenging. BC is due for and upset. Why not this Saturday?

This may seem like a dumb question but what is Karma, how do you get it, and would I be able to give karma to anyone else?

Ferrum would look great with field turf. Imagine how perfect that would be sitting in the stands in surrounded by the mountains and looking at that beautiful field. But I think they need to get lights first. In fact they need to put in some major bucks to renovate the whole stadium.
