Carthage game was great considering the injury to the starting QB earlier in the week.  Strained his shoulder or arm according to Jake.  BTW, yeah, Jake only got 5 carries and 16 yards. One was a conversion of a first down on 4th and 2.  He will be the go to guy.  He's a bull.

Going to California for the Whittier game.  I'll let you all know the atmosphere there.  The atmosphere at Carthage is just great.  Funny but this was the first game with the students in attendance and I think there were more people last week.  Tailgating was great.

Carthage had a great passing game.  In the beginning, both teams were making lots of yards up and ddown the field.

And no, I'm still not Jake Smith.

I'm laying low until after Saturday's game vs. Lakeland.  Appreciate all of your comments. Guess I'm just really enthusiastic to see the season begin.  I'm a CCIW newby but I like it!

By the way, Jake was in for a number of plays but only 11 rushing plays.  A junior transfer, Bures,  was the starter.  I'm just excited by the whole thing.  The whole atmosphere at Carthage is really great.  The parents club, of which I am NOT a part, has alot of spirit.

GO REDMEN!!

Sorry, did not mean to create any controversy or comparison of Jake Smith to any one else.  I only wanted to say that I believe that he has the potential to be very good  at the college level.  He led all Carthage RBs last week with not alot of playing time.  He is a Freshman.  I agree that with maturity he will only get better.  Let's see what happens after Saturday.

Go easy on me......this is all new to me!!

Jake Smith got in the first game last week against Carroll as a freshman and turned in 53 yards on 11 carries and blocked well.  I'm looking forward to Saturday vs. Lakeland.  Just hope he gets more touches.

None of the above.  Followed Jake through his high school career.  I met him and he is just a really good kid and I know he will do his job. He knows no other way.  He's a good one and you better keep your eye on him.

All  I can say is Lakeland has never seen the likes of Jake Smith.  Freshman who set all records for Fremd HS last year, worked out all summer, is a great kid and has the drive and talent to be the best in the league.  I will bet he has a great game this coming weekend.  He's strong, fast, and wants to be the best.  Remember his name:  Jake Smith.
