Saw where Jake Allen was released by the Packers 11-18-2009. Good Luck to him. I saw him play the one game he dressed. I dont think he had any stats, but at least he hit the field. When ws the last time an ASC player saw playing time in the League?

How long, if ever, has it been since an ASC player actually played in the league? I know Fred MacAffee for MC, but he might not have played in the ASC. I mean played, not signed, practice squad, etc.

Never said or meant to say they play dirty. Contrary. I think they play real hard and real clean, for the most part.
I was just saying, to beat UMHB, you have to forget everything and play lights outs out and match them blow for blow, with intensity and execution, like a "bar fight" and most teams just wont allow themselves to do that. It takes a certain (large) amount of guts to jut get your team to smashing in to them like UMHB does to you. That is what they hang their hats on. Intensity. You just must beat them at their own game. You must be able to rise to that level and then, you can beat them. But not many people have risen to that level lately. these are my opinions.

What are MC's chances at an at large bid this year?
If they play UMHB reasonably Close and still lose?
I would think they would be 8-1 on the year (NAIA loss doesnt count).

Would like to see a competitive game and would like to see Shaffer operate the varied offense of MC and the Bailey kid, the option, for MHB. I would like to see "someone else" really challenge UMHB for the Title like ETBU did once upon a time. It adds some spice to the conference.

I read some comments from up above about Wesley being aggressive vs. MHB. I can tell you from my experieince, that aggressive is by far the best way to go with MHB. They are human and beatable, very human and very beatable. The problem has been through the years intimidation and not being able to match the intensity throughout the 4 quarters. You must be willing enter the "bar fight" and just keep punching with MHB to have a chance. People just havent been able to do it. It isnt physical, so much as emotional, mental, etc. You must be willing to stoop that low, or really, elevate your play to that level.

What position did Yessir play?  Trying to think of who he was and how much he played. If he played enough early on, maybe, just maybe, he was getting rolled up while we were basically taking his ring from him. His real ring. Not just the one he gets to wear for sitting home in the playoffs. I just remember, they just kept talking about how "heavy" their hands were going to be from "winning all those rings." So, like Mac Brown and Vince said "we just kept playing." The shock on thier faces was worth all the blood sweat and tears.

Also, did not HSU win the conference in '04?

I often dont align myself with HSU people on here, but I just have to think they have a point on this one. enough is enough.

Chris Brooks,

Congrats on the awesome stat site and pictures that were taken on the MC/Millsaps game. That website MC has is great!

For RFB,
From what I undersand ETBU has 3 very talented running backs. An average or slightly above O-Line, below average receivers (but maybe good enough in that system), and nothing (nothing proven or with experience) at QB. Defensively, the line should be the strength, the LB's seem to be role players, and the secondary might be lacking in big play capabilities.
In all, ETBU's historical flaw has been a lack of QB. When they won the conference, they nearly blew it with the play of QB's but were so far superior than anyone else in the skill positions to compensate for the QB deficiency. But this was, and is, a rarity. Make no mistake, from 2001-2004 ETBU should have won the conference outright (talent wise) more than they did, but they missed the leader, or arm, or playmaker, or intangible, or whatever it was (Neal, Schaeffer, Proctor, Salinas, Adam king, etc.) to close the deal. Some of the games, from 2001-2004 with UMHB, HPU, and HSU- though not as much with HsU, could have easily gone the other way with a more solidified presence at QB. Ralph Harris either could not coach QB's or would not ever settle, or just could not get a D3 "winning cog" of a QB in to play there. He must have thought he had it in Van Cleave, but it never materialized.
THe lack of QB will kill etbu this year. And they probably dont have the superior O-Line to line up and just whip people in the trenches.

Chris Brooks, Toby Taff,
Well spoken, well thought, and positive. I see ya'lls points.

etbualum,
I would think that an appeals process would take time and money for the conference and or Div III to sort out. I dont think either of them want to go that route right now. Justifying anything with money does not seem to be a good policy right now with the economy.
The appeals process is a good idea, but I say, dont let them transfer in conference, or have an open door policy all the way.
I think I disagree with these guiys transfering for legit reasons their senior seasons. Would like to see some statistics of how many of these guys graduate from another Div III school, after losing that much class hours and money.
