Bombers you are correct my friend....
What I have witnessed this Bombers season and in recent Seasons has been Gutless in terms of game management. I understand the personel has not been there of late but you play the game to win. Right?   Field Goal from the one?? Totally spinless call. Let the kids try at least. What if they made the TD? Changes the game.."Wouldn't that be fun!" to quote the legend...

The Kids play thier hearts out week in and week out and deserve the chance to win. At least the opportunity to try. Bombers coaching, and I hate to say it, is failing the kids.

Fishers kicking game is weak and I believe this is going to hurt them this week.

I am thinking this game will be a close one.

Ladies and Gentlemen... Will you please rise.  We present to you the newest sensation to hit the E8PP scene.  Put your hands together as we welcome this Saterday's top performers.

On percussion, Nick Clark!  On lead guitar, Wes Smith!  On bass guitar, Chad Pieri!  On vocals, Mark Magnovski!  And introducing, on lead vocals, little Mikey Raplee!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen, put it together for the Sackson 5 who will perform their hit single "We want your (quarter)back!"

When we get into the back field,
We're gonna take you to the ground.
And then will come a mighty cheer,
From the Alfred crowd.

But someone's warming on the bench,
One hit was all it took.
We wish there was a replay screen,
To take a second look.

Oh baby give us one more chance,
To slip through and sack you.
Like Brenton Brady we'll break your heart.

Oh darling from the blindside we'll hit you so
And then you'll be down in our arms
We want your back
Yes we do now
We want your back

Love it....

Though your Cheese has definately Slipped off your Cracker... :)

To the Fisher Fans..SJF definatly kicked IC's butt...I wont take away from that fact. They looked good today and IC well...I am thinking IC will be lucky to beat Alfred, Springfield and Cortland at this point.

Wow...I am speechless. SJF is not that good and IC well Isnt that good either...pitiful football

well... ok, but you understand how beating HC by 4 makes me worry about beating alfred? or cortland?

I see your point, and it does makes me nervous too. But I have a good feeling about this team..Guess we we see what will happen.

Ithaca eeks out yet another win.... at this point it looks like the Bombers either:

1) Can't recover from all their injuries.

2) Play to the level of their opponents.

3) Suck.

None of these bode well for the long term....

Sorry to be so negative after a win, but when it mattered Hartwick drove easily and IC couldn't. If it weren't for the 4 picks this game might have been backwards.

Also, not trying to take anything away from Hartwick, they showed a lot of heart and talent.

Max my friend you kinda contradicted yourself, "Hartwick showed alot of heart and talent" Bombers played a good team today and won. A win is a win. Yeah it wasnt a blow out and they had some issues..Lets face it IC's secondary will always be an issue they way they play defense, our running game well its not the greatest but its got the job done so far. A win is a win. I will be content if they win every game her on out by one point as long as they are winning.

Quote from: Upstate on September 29, 2009, 10:36:00 AMEnlighten me on how that has an effect on this years game again?

To trot out the old argument Brockport posters were fond of back when they were good: No one on Alfred's roster has ever won at Butterfield Stadium.  In fact, no one on Alfred's roster has a father or grandfather or great grandfather that has ever won at Butterfield Stadium!

(note, please do not search my past posts to find all the times I said this argument was stupid)

Here's a post that I pulled out from the cobwebs:

QuoteFor example, a lot of talk might be made in a few months about how Alfred hasn't won at Butterfield in however long (or is it ever? I always forget). But half of these guys weren't there in 2007 and probably none were there in 2005. So how relevant really is that anecdote? It's quirky, and yes, I am aware that there are, sometimes, teams that just can't seem to win a certain game, in a certain place or at a certain temperature. But in the college game, I feel these matter less. Tom Secky's in charge of that offense at Alfred, and since he wasn't there at any other time, I'm not going to be put at ease by a "Yeah, but they never win here."

Well, since you were wondering, Pep went to the "record books." When Pep hits the record books, you know it's been awhile. All of AU's wins at Ithaca came before it was called Butterfield Stadium. In fact, most probably came before South Hill Field was built....anyone know when the Bombers first called that home? But here are Alfred's wins (and ties) at Ithaca:

1938--Alfred and Ithaca played to a 20-20 tie
1951--Alfred 33, Ithaca 0
1953--Alfred 41, Ithaca 6
1955--Alfred 26, Ithaca 0
1961--Alfred 14, Ithaca 7
1976--Alfred 3, Ithaca 3 (tie)...Pep was there. Pep thinks Lois described it in Wasn't That Fun? as the most boring game ever witnessed. Funny thing about that, a week or so later, the Saxons handed then-powerful St. Lawrence its lone loss that year, a 3-2 Saxon win at Canton! Pep listened to that one on the radio.
1982--Alfred 20, Ithaca 7

I believe 1958 is when South Hill Field became home to the bombers as well as SOuth Hill location in general the college. Prior to that date the field was located where Ithaca High school stands today, and the college was located downtown. Not totally sure of the 1958 date, but thats the year my dad graduated from IC and he was on the first IC team to play there.

All in all a good day in the E8..Good wins by Ithaca,Hartwick, and Alfred. SJF did not fair to well on the scoreboard but did very well against a team thats well Mount Union. I went to that game today and honestly saw alot of very positive things from SJF. Special teams (especially punt coverage was spot on). I think MU gained maybe a total of 5 yards all game in punt returns. Offense moved the ball well, Bailey was very mobile when MU brought the attack and defense did a good job stopping the run, SJF defense had a few issues with the passing attack of MU but all in all did well. MU is a team in a class of its own. SJF should be proud of how they played.. Still not gonna win the E8 this year..:) but ya did a good job...

Hey Everyone. Looking forward to another good year in the E8. Being a Rochester local I am looking foward to the SJF/Mount Union Game this weekend. As much as it pains me to say this,  ;) I am hoping SJF gives them a rough time. Go E8..

Go Bombers!

I was very impressed with the way Alfred played IC today...The score doesnt do the game justice..They are a very good ball club who I honestly believe will beat Fisher next weekend. I have been to many of the Fisher home games this year incuding the IC Fisher game...and the only game that Fisher truly impressed me was the IC game..They came to play beat IC . All the other games I watched I was not as impressed with Fishers play. Alfred is a sleeper team and honestly do not get the credit they deserve. A very very good well coached team. Almost wish Cortaca wasn't next weekend because I would love to go back down to Alfred. Its gonna be a good close game like todays.

Great job Alfred, BEAT FISHER!!!

I watched the past 2 Fisher Games UofR and IC and the one thing that stands out clear as a bell is that Fisher makes huge adjustments as the game goes on.  Both IC and UofR Didnt or they just did not make the right ones. I was impressed with Fishers D..IC ran on them the 1st and part of the 2nd Quarter then they adjusted and shut down the run. They also then attacked the pass...With Blitzes comming from everywhere..
Fishers offense...Had 2 huge plays that was the difference in the ball game..Which sometimes is all you need..Set up the soft corners be going short all game then Bam....Go long..

Nice job Fisher...Well desrved..
