I was able to get live stats by going to the d3hoops home page and clicking on the live stats link on the right side where they show all of the scores.  Worked great.

Point has 22 turnovers to Whitman's 17.  But Whitman scores 34 off the turnovers to Point's 8.

Tom, you do realize that because of how the season has gone, you would be better off making logical predictions and then reversing them.

Frank O'Brien, who was Athletic Director at UWSP for 20 years is back on the job in an interim basis.  He is truly a good guy and those of us who know him are glad to have him back, if only for a short time.

Anyone looking for an AD job?  Daron Montgomery leaving UWSP on January 6, 2016, for Saint Anselm, a D2 school in Manchester, NH.  Many stories out there on this.

I don't know how it looked on the live feed, but many of us at the game last night thought it was possibly one of the finest all around games we've seen Point play in a long time.  Stifling defense, which seems to have become normal, and always looking for the open shot which often times results in the shot clock winding down.  This was Pointer style basketball at it's best, with the only downside being a few missed free throws.  The nice thing about this group is the unselfishness on distributing the ball and the potential that any of the top 6 guys can score from any range.   I'll admit that looking at this team on paper at the beginning  of the season I would not have predicted hosting the first 2 weekends of the tournament, but I think a lot of us Pointer fans feel that there is something special about this team.  I've only missed 2 or 3 games since 2003 and feel this team has progressed as much or more since the start of the season as any Pointer team during that time.  Just my 2 cents.

As for the crowds, last Saturdays seemed to be less than a Wednesday WIAC game, where last Friday's seemed much bigger.  But last nights game vs. Emory drew a good crowd, almost filling the balcony, each end zone, and almost both sides of the court.  Not sellouts like in the mid 2000 championship years, but not many empty seats, either.  Also, Channel 7 in Wausau did broadcast last nights game live, and will do so again tonight.  Not sure it really affects walk up sales or not.

SPASH plays at 4 PM in Wausau, so making both games should not be an issue for those wanting to attend both.  Hoping for another big crowd tonight.

Regarding the UWSP tickets....I stopped in at about 8:15 AM today to get my balcony tickets for the Pointer-Concordia game.  BALCONY SEATS for either game are NOT reserved seats.  Unlike past years, there was no one in front of me in line.  Also, tickets for Saturdays game will go on sale immediately after the completion of the Pointers game on Friday, the same as in past years.

Point's postseason basically began last night with their win over the Pioneers.  Shirley said Olp played her best game in 4 years.  Point came out on a mission and led 19-4 less than 6 minutes into the game.  They increased it to 26 points and saw it dwindle to 8 in the 2nd half before building it up again.  This team can be a factor, as it had chances to beat Oshkosh twice - an OT loss and 4 point loss - and played WW tough for 32 minutes before going ice cold the last 8 minutes.  If they can continue to play with the emotion I saw last night (and make free throws) I'm looking forward to Thursday and hopefully Saturday.  BW, why do I feel that I am posting this only for you?

I don't see how Whitewater can lose this tournament.  They seem to be playing better recently and really steamrolling anyone in their way.  As a longtime Pointer fan, I'm hoping that they can quickly turn things around and get hot for at least a week, as they've done the last few years.  Realistically, I think there's a very good chance that the Warhawks could be calling the Quandt "home" for the Final 4 in a few weeks. I hope that the WIAC fans will show up and support any WIAC team thats fortunate to make it that far.  It could be a great March weekend both here and in Salem.

I had read here before that Tillema was wearing his Bane mask, but never actually heard why he was.

The unconfirmed word in the stands is that he took an elbow to his nose in practice.

I hope everyone appreciates what they just witnessed: A swampgoon posting. Thats just about as rare as a BanditUWSP posting!  :D :P :o
Hey Tom.  Even more rare is a Tom D. sighting at a Pointer game! :) ;)  With frodotwo and tomt keeping us updated, I've semi-retired from posting.  I'll try to talk to swampgoon Saturday to see if we can pick up the pace a little bit this season.

In looking at the standings and results for Point, Eau Claire, WW, and River Falls, even a Point loss today would still get them the #1 seed in the WIAC tournament.  A loss to EC would leave them tied with EC and possibly RF.  Since Point, EC and RF would have all split with each other, the next team is WW.  Point beat them twice while EC and RF each lost to WW.  Therefore, I can't see any way that SP won't be the #1 seed - win or lose today.  After that, the possibilities for #2-4 seeding seem endless.
