Loras picks up where they left off.  Lose 36-0 to Elmhurst.  Another 1-9 season very possible thanks to Rockford on the schedule again!

Congrats to UD on a great regular season.  Seeing the footage on KCRG, it looked like Spartan fans filled up the visitor side.  I hope they get a hope game to start the play-offs in two weeks!

I've been awfully quiet on the postboard for much of the season. I don't believe in giving constant individual "props" to players.

But, in case anyone hasn't been following closely and if my math is correct, Michael Zweifel currently has 425 Receptions, 5581 Yards, and 50 TD's in his college career. The All-Time NCAA (All Divisions- D-I; D-IAA; D-II; D-III) Reception Record stands at 436.

I think this accomplishment is great for the IIAC.  However, I still think it is fishy that he gets to play four games last year before his season-ending "injury," and those statistics count eventhough he was awarded a medical redshirt for the year.  Without those four games he doesn't break the record.

Should turn out to be an interesting year in the IIAC.  Not sure if I'm happier to see UD beat up on the Dutch, or Loras lose at home to Simpson :)

From the Telegraph Herald

"Late-breaking: Suspects named
A former University of Dubuque standout football player was one of two men arrested Friday in connection with a robbery Thursday morning at Kennedy Road US Bank branch.

Travis A. Strowbridge, 23, was a preseason all-American tackle for UD in 2008."

Interesting article about academic performance for d3 athletes vs. d3 non-athletes.

Check out the link below regarding a story about WIAC non-conference scheduling starting in 2011.  They must schedule a fellow WIAC team as a "non-conference" game, meaning that they will end up playing one team twice in the same year!  How will that impact the IIAC teams who have scheduled a WIAC opponent in the past?

Very impressed with Central.  They play disciplined football and are going to make the other team earn everything they get.  The only thing that looked susceptible is there pass defense, which is why I'm guessing they had trouble with UD.

Hopefully the UD/Loras game gives us a better show Saturday night.

Looks like we'll need to dress warm Saturday night!!!

Saturday: A chance of rain and snow after 1pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 43. Southeast wind 5 to 15 mph becoming northwest. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 20.

Even if I wanted to say something about Loras, I don't know what I'd write.  I'm happy with what I saw on Saturday, but I have no idea what to expect next Saturday against Wartburg.

It was nice to see a running game and aggressive, ball hawking defense from Loras today.  I didn't think they were as bad as the score would indicate last week, but they're probably not as good as the score would indicate this week.  We'll learn a lot more next week as the Knights come in for Homecoming.

I'm sure the Coe fans think the last play of the Coe-Loras game last year was a miracle gift from the referees.

Very impressed with Millikin in the win over my Duhawks today.  Very impressive QB.  Totally different team than last year.

Anything that could go wrong for the Duhawks did today!   Two times Loras was inside the opponent five yard line, each time Millikin comes away with seven!!!  Hopefully they can come out ready for Simpson next week.  I was impressed with Millikin's QB, though.  He was the starting QB for E. Illinois last year, but he transferred after E. Illinois signed ex-hawk Jake Christensen.
