Should be out. My son came home for break yesterday and told me the players on his team that made all ODAC. Maybe it just hasnt been posted yet.

November 19, 2007, 07:31:01 PMQuote from: wesleydad on November 19, 2007, 06:59:20 PMAs an HSC fan I can attest to that. The Wesley guys were a class act, both coaches and players. The fans were polite and gracious. My son played in the game Sat and said the Wesley guys played hard, clean football. Hats of to a good program. We too have a great coaching staff. Were proud of them and the whole HSC team. They gave Wesley all they had and fought to the end.
it is certain that muc gets kids that could play at another level whether they transfer or not, to say otherwise is just ridiculous. as far as wesley goes, i can speak for my son and what he went through trying to go to school. he did not have great sat scores, was recruited by temple and kutztown but was forgotten because of his test scores. he certainly has the size, 6-3 225 or so, the arm strength, and the hands to play more than one position at several higher levels. why did he end up at wesley, one thing and one thing only, coach drass. he met many coaches and i was only asked to meet one. coach drass is fantastic with the players and they have done all they said they would to make sure my son got his education while he played football. b-rob had a situation occur in high school that forced him to change his plans, i have known him for 4 years now and a finer gentleman off the field you will not meet. as for the others who have transfered in to wesley, the spoils of winning will do that. if a kid just wants to play and thinks d3 is the best for them then they should do it. the choice my son made has been better than we could have ever expected it to be, playing for a top team in the country and getting a solid education, and just as important spending time with a great person, coach drass. as a parent, you could not ask for anything more.

Mt Union recruiting in Florida? Transfers from 1AA teams? Wow. I kind of like the ODAC the way it is now. Regional schools recruiting the region. Ours students against your students. If the stars come together like they did for the 2003 Bridgewater team, then great. But national recruiting? I hope we dont put college football out of reach for our VA players.

You were at the Stagg Bowl last year, jacketlawyer, as was I, and I also saw some marked differences in team speed and depth.
What's it going to take to prevent future ODAC teams from getting walloped in the first round of the playoffs? This is the second straight year the ODAC standard-bearer has been ousted immediately. I mean no disrespect to the Tigers; the accounts of the game on this board indicate the it was closer than the score illustrates. 8)
I know we've covered this before in prior posts, but the timing is right to revisit the topic, especially since it's a year later, and hopefully we're all a little bit wiser!
Where do we got to get it? And assuming we know where, why aren't we?
Very interesting question Jacketlawyer. I was absolutely shocked at the shear size of the Wesley players (you have to see it to believe it). I have no idea how they get those players to a DIII program. I spoke with one of the Wesley players who was not dressed out (limit of 50 for playoff games). He said he coach was an excellent recruiter. Must be. His D line was as big as anything I've seen at most D-1 schools. I guess the players that size in the ODAC recruiting area opt for a D-1 program. Of course its like Matt said earlier, HS was playing the #6 school. I cant imagine that kind of size all the way down the top 25. He would be the one to ask though. Bridgewater has seen more playoff teams than anyone else in the ODAC.

I know its really early to talk about but who does Bridgewater have coming up to replace Highfield and Carter? Big shoes to fill. Just curious. Heard Bridgewater had a really good recruiting year in spring of 2007.

Didnt get a chance to post after the Macon game but wanted to thank the Macan fans and team for their graciousness, hospitality and the class they showed on Saturday. They have a fine football team that will be back and in the thick of the ODAC next year.

Notice: Tickets will be sold for The Game, they will only go on sale before the game (no pre-selling), and there will be a limited amount of them. That is the latest news that I've heard. I'll keep all posted if I learn more.
Day field has a capacity of 4,000. It will be interesting to see if they cut off tickets at any point. Any idea what time they start selling?

Sorry the HSC point total average for the BC-WL games was 41.5. verses 33 for RM against the same teams. Not that it matters Saturday. All bets are off. Its THE GAME............51 hours and 45 minutes and counting.

R-MC Guy,
Great post. I will add that if you throw out the EH (seven turnovers) Sydneys point totals against Bridewater and W&L averaged 36.5 and RMC averaged 33.0 Slight edge to HSC. HSC moved the ball well enough against EH. Therein is the key. HSC needs to take care of the ball Saturday. With the execption of the first game against Hopkins (minus Simpson and starting a new quarterback) no one has been able to stop Sydney from racking up yardage.
BTW. All but two of Roanoke Times' Fearless Forcasters picked RMC this morning. Course they get ODAC games wrong about 50% of the time.

Then again...it is Randolph-Macon/Hampden-Sydney.....forget everything I just said!!![]()
Well said, Allsky. There is no stat on that issue. R-M can win this game.
Oh yeah. No doubt. Either team can win. Thats one of the things that make this such a great rivelry. I had talked with a rep from the ODAC at the begining of the season and asked why this game wasnt on the Video schedule. He said that there was a tech issue with getting the feed from Day field. Kudos to RMC for getting that taken care of. I have several friends and relatives that cant make the game but will watch it on the net.

marc.....not sure how this stacks up overall but I know there was a period of 6-8 years at one point where the home team lost. I'll go back and double check it when I get time. That info is on the H-S web site.

Thanks,
I looked at the link and saw the seasons back to 1981. It doesnt list home team but that can be figured by counting back from this years host. Seems to have alot to do with the strength of the team that given year. But thats even hard to tell without Macons W/L record to compare. Anyway it should be a great game no matter where its played. Weather report looks good.

Anyone know of a site that lists the locations and final scores of THE GAME? 112 meetings so far. Interested to see if home field advantage has historically been a factor.

Yellow Jacket & Jacket Lawyer.......Thank you so much for the info on parking. This will be a big help and I will not have to worry as much about my father now. He still loves a good football game and after all it does not get any better than what we have this Saturday.
You guys are great. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out on this.
Once Again.........Thank you so much !
Goes for me too. Ive emailed that link to several Tiger fans who have never been to Ashland. It will go along way to getting us into the stadium on time.
