To many turnovers for the knights, but they played a good game.  I was not impressed with the www quarterback at all, or did the knights make him look that way.  Wish I'd had another computer hitched up to the wartburg announcers.  Didn't know www had so many players related to NFL legends.

Congrats again to the knights, see you next year when the Dutch come up to your house for another round.

The Roop, Scots4, and Scottie
Don't let Walston Hoover or the other knights get under your skin.  We put up with them in the Iowa Conference.  When they loose its always the refs fault or something.

Knights let show some class, (like Central does) you are representing us now.

I still think it was one of the best games I've watched.

Hard to say it again - good like to the knights next week.

Congrats to the Knights.  I knew they would be successful with that rocket screen.  You never gave up!  Go knights, represent the Iowa Conference.

Congrats to Wartburg for a great win over UW-Stevens Point.  Just read the press release from the UW-Stevens coach "you don't change the things (pressure defense) that got you there."  Big mistake, everyone one in the Iowa Conference knows you are going to see those - d--- rocket screens every game from the Knights.  The knights will kill you with them if you don't plan for them.  Hope I don't jinks you, I pick Wartburg for a win next Saturday. Its fun playing football in December, i.e. Central last year.  I wish you could play a game in the INI dome.  It would be rocket-ville all night.

To Dutchfan2004 and Old Dutch
I agree with you both about the Dutch run game, we seldon had one.  But I don't blame the players: Veldhuizen, Zachary, and Craft, all experienced players, if they are not going to get the ball they can't run with it.  Vance was given the ball 20 to 30 times a game even if he wasn't gaining on ever carry just to keep the defense honest.  Coach Mac is a passing coach, bottom line.  I just finished watching last years game against Luther (to make me feel better) and we also have to remember how many times Timmy took off on his hurt wheels to get us out of a jam.

Yesterday most of our runs were off tackle, some worked some didn't.  But you can't run the same running play everytime.  Not once did we try anything around the end.  Craft has lead the blocking around the end a hundred times.  Nor did we try anything tricky, like a reverese.  I know Simpson's linebackers were good, but mix it up Mac!

I too was at the Central-Loras game.  The score is deceiving, it wasn't that close of a game.  Loras was in a prevent on the last Central drive and allowed Central to use up the clock, but it did make it look a little better for us.  Bottom line; neither of Central QBs will be successful unless we get our running game estalished like in the Coe game.  They just aren't the dead on passer like Connel was.  Basic football: our running game opens up the receivers so that whichever QB is playing can make the throw.  It just doesn't work when we are in the throw throw throw punt mode.  30 yards total rushing on 18 attempts is a crime, 24 of the 30 was by the QB and he carried it 9 times (9 of 18 total attempts).  Has Coach Mac lost complete confidence in our OL line and running backs?  We've got two seasoned runners in Velduizen and Zachary (remember who took over for Vance in the first St Thomas game in 2006 - Velduizen) and the best blocking fullback in the conference in Craft (he's been doing it for three years).  They were on the sidelines most of the day.

Our defense has got to get it together these last two games, no more missed tackles, wrap-em up,d-backs have got to stay on their feet.  I don't know when I've heard the sound of a good hit. Lane had'em every game.

Two last comments.  If we don't have the players this year for our schemes then change the scheme.  An old football coach told me one time, "you can only go as far as your Seniors will take you."  Let's get the veterns on the field.

Not sure of what to think about Central's win yesterday.  Normally would be happy about another OT win but maybe my expectation about Cornell was wrong.  I just can't see why Cornell isn't 4 and 4 or better, they have a good team.  Maybe now that the weather is cooler they won't wear down toward the end of the game like they did earlier in the season.  Hope the Rams win out.  Good luck.

But for the Dutch, who starts at quarterback next week?  Do we go for a good passer ( when he's on) or a fair passer and a fair running quarterback.   Can we stop the run?  Coach Mac has to be scratching his head on this one.

Yesterday was a wild ride for the conference, isn't fun.   Go Dutch!

Didn't mean to degrade Coe, Klompen struck a nerve about Central leadership.  But I'm aired out and ready to move on.

Coe stands are great to watch from and your new field is sharp.  Beat Luther!

Klompen, Senior Leadership is alive and well on this year's Central team.  In three years of watching Central football (haven't missed a game yet) I have never seen "overt leadership" demonstrated from the Central captains or seniors.  As in the past this year's seniors and captains are leading by example. The Coe game was a good example, excellent blocking on offense gave Lackey time to throw and holes for the running backs to run.  On defense, pressure and containment by the DL on the Coe quarterback made for a long day for the Kohawks. The Central captains are Nathan Craft, S-Back, Spenser Remick, O-Line, and Matt VerMeer, Wide Rec.  With the exception of VerMeer who made a great catch Saturday, Craft and Remick will never have "break-out games" in the way of stats and touchdowns because of the positions they play.  But their leadership is well demonstrated by their great blocks which inspire the whole team to a higher level.  Look where we are, 4 and 2 and we have quietly rejoined the hunt for the conference championship.  Lets not be in a hurry to identify "our next stars."  Lets keep the competition guessing.  "Down season," I don't think so. Go Dutch!

Just checking to see how this thing works.  I have some thoughts for Klompen on his Central Leadership posting.
