On the topic of scheduling D2 programs... UW Oshkosh played Minnesota Mankato in 2006 and lost 22 to 33. That team finished only 5-5. this year's team could absolutely win plenty of Division II football games. UWW lost to St Cloud St in the late 00's I believe and lost a close game. They went on to win the D3 title. In both cases the D2 team finished below .500.

I've been quietly watching the boards the last couple seasons...but had to give a shout out to my alma mater#hailtitans #allin

I'd also say I'm impressed by the UWW faithful. Classy bunch giving props, respect and luck to a fellow WIAC opponent.

Carroll is moving into the CCIW next season, so they may be feeling some pressure from their new conference mates to schedule tougher. Carroll has never scheduled a WIAC opponent in the D3Football.com era, but in their defense they only had one non-conference date possible as an MWC member.

Ripon opened against UW-Oshkosh from 2006 to 2009, but haven't played a WIAC school since.

We steamrolled Ripon 57-0 in 2006. My first collegiate start (Yes, I am reminiscing). We finished 3-4 in the WIAC and Ripon went on to win the CCIW that year.
UWO 44 Ripon 6 in 2007. UWO finished 4-3 in the WIAC.
UWO 14 Ripon 13 in 2008 . UWO finished 2-5 in the WIAC.
UWO 40 Ripon 16 in 2009. UWO finished 2-5 in the WIAC.

I'm not sure CCIW teams have much to gain from playing a WIAC team.
Ripon isn't in the CCIW....  They are in the MWC with the likes of SNC, Beloit, Monmouth, etc...

Yeah, there's a world of difference between the MWC and the CCIW, and their respective champs for that matter. Outside of the Tanney led Monmouth teams, the MWC is usually 1st round cannon fodder. The CCIW champ is usually a region final or semi-final threat most years.

I mistook the conferences, my apologies. I didn't intend to knock the likes of Wheaton or North Central. I did intend to knock the likes of SNC and Ripon.

For the 2nd time in 2 years P-ville is looking for a D-coordinator.  I hope Emendorfer can use his status as interim AD to up the pay to his assistants so they stick around for a while.  Although I think money was not a reason that Schmidt left P-ville to go to his alma mater.  What are the chances that Dettwiler returns to his alma mater?

Do you think Emendorfer may be part of the reason for the turnover? I recall my recruiting process visiting with staffs at Stevens Point, Oshkosh, Eau Claire, La Crosse and Platteville...Emendorfer was by far the most arrogant (insert other terms) coach I met. Can't imagine coaching alongside him is any better.

Coach Cerroni shared that UWO RBS Dylan Hecker tore his ACL in the first half against UWW. Wish him a speedy recovery...never want to see players of his caliber fall victim to such an injury. Late in the season makes me curious if he'll medical redshirt next season?

Post-game press conference - Osh first, then UWW.

Interesting comments by Cerroni starting about the 5:20 mark.  Sounds like a bitter man. Says he's not complaining or whining, but it sure sounds like he is. Take a listen.

Both teams are part of the same state system.  Poaching each other's coaches is not good form.  Money is how you do it.  I thought he was perfectly clear.  >:(   Oshkosh needs to figure out a way to get more cash so they can keep these coaches. A new challenge for their administration.  Glad Cerroni said it.
He is an awesome coach.

There is absolutely no issue with going after the best coaches no matter where they are currently coaching.  A head coach has a job to do and an obligation to his school and his players to do everything he can to make them the best they can be. Bad form?  Bad form is passing on someone that you think is the best fit in an effort to not hurt another teams feeling. Come on, these coaches aren't in the pee wee league volunteering their time. This is their profession.

Within the WIAC I see it as bad form. That is an opinion.   Sims better get working on an alternative strategy than raising ticket prices.   :-[

Said the guy whose team hired Whitewater's strength and conditioning coach. I'm guessing you think UW-O should have stayed away from Brown? Right.

Coaches move within the conference all the time...this is nothing new. This happens across D1 even more readily. Some brief examples below. That said, it is difficult to keep coaches around when the payroll is different. This was evident at UW-Madison in recent years as well. Coach C didn't state anything that is incorrect and if he is salty about losing his top coordinators due to money (which is out of his control) then he has all the right to do so. Not sure why this is up for debate.

UWO "stole" Brown.
UWW "stole" the former UWO OC.
UWW "stole" the former UWP DC.
UWO "stole" O'Grady from UWRF.
UWW "stole" O'Grady from "UWO.

UWO has nothing but respect for UWW. Do they get tempered after a defeat in the playoffs? Absolutely. Do they feel they were robbed on a few key plays? Absolutely. Do UWO 'representatives' on these boards trash talk after a win? Absolutely.

Some sensitive souls on these boards.

Good luck to UWW against Mount Union next week. I'm sure you'll continue to represent the state and WIAC conference well.

Only concern is the UWW secondary can't ever seem to come up with a big time play. We saw the last two years we could count on that secondary to do something great, now it's just, I don't know... Bland?

The UWW secondary held UWO out of FG range on the last drive of the game. The 5'9" cornerback laid the wood on the all-american TE preventing a sure first down on UWO side of the field.

I thought the UWW secondary came up very big at the end of the game.

I just think it's funny that some of you UWW guys (certainly not all) are happy to take a crap on other schools in pretty much any way possible, but get prickly whenever someone does anything but grovel at UWW's feet.  It's hilarious.
Definitely not the first time I have read something like this on here...  Starting to think there might just be some truth to it!!!!

Agreed

BoBo,

UWO has won 2 of the last 4 WIAC championships, how is that not winning?  and winning 2 of the last 4 WIAC championships is pretty impressive considering it is always the toughest conference in the country.  I would consider that turning the program around? but who knows that's just my opinion.

To a 4 year old, that would be great...2 championships in 4 years!!  Prior to 2012, their last conference championship would be...drum roll please....1976. With the crown this year, Oshkosh is now tied with Eau Claire (9) in conference championships. In the current configuration of the conference, only Stout (5) would have less conference championships . They have an overall winning record against only Stout (although I believe they tied their series record with Platteville with the win this year) - so not surprising that their overall program winning % in 120 years of playing football is an unimpressive .440.  I think 4 years of playing good ball out of 116 years of playing poorly is just too small of a sample size to really gauge whether the current program can be considered a winning one. Talk to me in 10 years and we can re-visit this.

Bobo, your logic makes zero sense. You ramble about how terrible the team has been for decades immediately after you acknowledge they've won 2 WIAC crowns in recent years.

That is the exact recipe for "turning it around".

Aside from cubs and the former football player, who's handle is totally escaping me right now, none of them are interested enough to involve themselves in this forum.
I have nothing but respect and admiration for what Coach Cerroni has accomplished at UWO!!!  He is one guy that I still pull for at UWO.

With that said, you won't see me step foot on the UWO campus again in support of their athletic programs....

Just because we don't post on D3boards.com doesn't mean we aren't interested. Living in Mke all I hear in the news is UWW so hopefully UWO will start to get some publicity as the post-season approaches. Go Titans!
