TFA2, we follow the golf teams, too.  Pretty awesome young golf coach working with them both.  Small world, huh?  We hope she is enjoying it here!

Best of luck to all ODAC sports' teams for this weekend... for the games that actually get played, that is.  Kinda sad we don't have the baseball opener happening here this weekend.  :-[

Final in Greensboro:  Guilford 67, E&H 60

The Quakers locked up sole possession of 2nd in the ODAC with a hard-fought win over the Wasps.  E&H can play and this could have gone either way until the last few minutes.  Emory & Henry will be a tough draw in the ODAC tournament.  As it stands now, the Quakers will play the winner of the 7/10 play-in game in the quarterfinals ... and it could well be E&H again.

GC is 18-6, 12-3 and E&H stands at 15-9, 8-7.

Congrats to the Quakers on finishing at 2.  And, since the women's board here is so very quiet.... let's acknowledge that the Guilford Quakers currently lead the ODAC women (15-2) & will be hosted by the Jackets (12-5) on Saturday.  We're looking forward to seeing a great game & wishing them safe travels with some potential bad weather predicted for Sat.   GO JACKETS!!!!

I have honestly not followed the new format for the 2019 ODAC tournament, but am I correct with the following?:

The top 10 teams make the cut and the bottom three do not.
The top 6 teams get a first round bye.
Teams 7-10 play a first round game with 7 vs 10 and 8 vs 9 at the home courts of 7 and 8.
The 7/10 winner and the 8/9 winner join the top six in the quarterfinals in Salem with 1 vs 8/9, 2 vs 7/10, 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5.

You are a very good sport & we salute you!  You did omit all the past year's accomplishments of our women's sports, pretty much 1/2 of the Athletics Department at Macon.  But, who's counting?  ;D

Best of luck to all for play in's and for Salem!  GO JACKETS!!!     P.S. Sorry this ^ was meant for our Tiger brother, but we're rusty & probably put it in the wrong spot.

It is GREAT to see 2 teams in the ODAC Championship that we don't often see in such a big game.  What a conference.  May the best team win today... GO WASPS!!!  GO MAROONS!!!!

^ Hardly ever post anymore but want to agree w/your post, y-jack-lok, and to add that this is a "youngish" team.  There is only 1 senior-- the very solid Daniel Noe.  There is a freshman point guard, Anthony, along with a sophomore, Turner.  Coach Merkel spreads minutes around among a talented group of juniors - Midulla, Adams, Nowell, Williams - some of whom don't get as many minutes as they might on a different team on any given night.  Junior Neely has been on the team for 2 years but was injured a lot of that time.  In his first full playing season, he has had a decent offensive year & with his height can be a defensive threat, especially with more experience.  We've noticed several other freshmen & sophomores (Woods, Bays, Morrow, Funderburg) who just need time & game experience to develop on both ends.  In short, we're excited about this team even though we agree with RMC1982 that there have been inconsistencies (& we don't fault him at all for calling it as he sees it.)

Best of luck to all who are playing in tonight & to all 8 that make it to Salem on Friday.  GO JACKETS!!!!!!

Congrats to all on conference honors received.  Glad to see Anderson & Livermon recognized on 1st & 2nd teams.  Agree POY looks a little off for this year, but maybe their 4 year stats comparison played a role?

Looking forward to next season for a very young Jackets team!  GO JACKETS!!!!

^ A big hand for Katie Anderson breaking the ODAC career rebounding record last night v. SU.  What an accomplishment for her!

Congrats to all the teams heading to Salem tomorrow!

^Yes, while taking nothing away from the now all time #2 rebounder, Molly Ariail '10.   Sometimes it's hard to believe the quality of basketball YJ women have produced.  Hopefully, this is '06 Megan Silva's year for HOF.  (Or at least very soon.)

Tough road game for the women tonight.

GO JACKETS!!!

Katie Anderson is within 2 of the Jackets rebounding record held by Molly Ariail.  That's amazing!!
