All you really need to know about St. Thomas is that they handed D-II, No. 3 ranked Winona State its only loss this year.  The loss by Winona (now 30-1 on the year) was only its second in its last 89 games

Good news for Point....Point beat UWL & UWRF twice and St Thomas only beat each of them once so, Point is twice as good as St. Thomas.

Kidding aside, I think anyone that plays Point is in for a tough game and on any given day we all know what can happen

Tonight's game is sold out, correct? I was going to come down from Milwaukee to take a peek but looks like I'll have to rely on some of you guys for a real recap.

I just checked witrh the school and was told that there are plenty of seats left. They said you could buy tickets at the door.
You can call (262) 472-1011 and asked to be transfered to the University Center Information Services and they can help you. We don't want the stands 1/2 full because of the wrong info getting out.

Any Pointer posters or lurkers coming down for the game tomorrow evening?  I'm sure we might have gotten more if it was an early game so all you old people could get back to Point at a decent hour! lol...

Anyway, maybe we can all meet up in Whitewater for a pre-game meal!

Hey BW or Stormy,

Where's a good "local" spot to eat?  I can choke down McDonald's anytime, anywhere.  Where's a good Whitewater spot?

Rick's Eastside Pub (the owner is a big UWW supporter and a really great guy)....where the UWW boosters meet after some of the games. Great food, good prices and the beer is good too. 561 E Milwaukee St Whitewater. Coming from the west, follow Main St through the downtown area and then the road curves to the right and becomes Milwaukee St. Rick's is behind Acorn Beverage just past an Ice Cream/Sandwich place. It's on the right side of the street as you are driving west to east. Here's the phone number in case you get lost...(262) 473-9879.  ENJOY

First off, Point was called for at least three, and maybe four carrying violations.  Platteville was called for one.  I haven't seen this called ALL SEASON LONG in any game I've been to, and it was like the ref's decided that this was the game to make a point about it.

They've got that liberty because of Jeff Skemp standing in the middle of the lane.

The Platteville fans start getting on the ref's due to the differing number of fouls, but Point had been the aggressor thus far in the half.  They called a foul against Hicklin at 12:20, which was a legit foul, to the applause of UWP fans... but then something very strange happened.  Over the next 4:06, they called 5 straight fouls against Point.  It wasn't that Point stopped attacking though... or that Platteville started.  It was like they actually listened to the crowd and evened up the fouls.  The lead went from 6 to 14, and Point had to try to place catchup from then on.  It just struck me as quite odd....   There were three more fouls called on Platteville the rest of the game, and two more on Point.

Skemp set up a tent in the lane.  There were a million times when he was cooking marshmallows over a fire in the lane, that's how much he was hanging out there! lol...  I think he got called about 3 times for a 3-second violation, but he could've gotten called for that about 10 more times.  No sour grapes because it definitely was Platteville's night.

Seems like someone said some of these same words after UWW played at Platteville and the response was that the UWW players should learn how to be better basketball players to avoid the fouls  mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Also, there was one foul where Mitchell threw his face at Skemp and came out of it with his 5th foul, being knocked to the floor and a cut inside his mouth. He will have to learn to stop using his face like that.

The difference in the way UWW played Skemp was that this time they played from behind instead of fronting him. King and Mitchell both fouled out and Skemp had 2 fouls and yet he was hooking and shoving all night long. 3 second calls were not made. I for one thought the refs did not do a good job either way. King & Mitchell both went to the floor a number of times and no fouls were called but K & M were called for touch fouls. King has fouled out of 2 games this year and a ref from last night was the one that called all 5 fouls on him in the UWO game the other game he fouled out. On 2 occasions, 1 ref made a call and this same ref overruled the first call making the call go against UWW.

As far as for Miller getting calls, I think his constant complaining hurts the team more than it helps. He complained to the ref for 5 minutes on one call and then the same ref made another bad call against UWW.

It was a big win for UWW and Goodwin was fantastic but the inside play from UWW big guys made a big difference.....just ask Skemp. After the game he huged King and told him what a good game he played.

The WIAC Weekly Release usually has a WIAC on TV section in it.

My mistake I didn't look on the home page only the BBall page. Thanks.

Can anyone tell me where to go to find out the broadcast schedule of WIAC games on FSN? I know Charter has some on demand but I was looking for the FSN Schedule.

Thanks in advance.

Here's a nice article about the UWW men's and women's basketball programs.

Not sure of the genuineness of this reasoning but it looks good for UWW.

So, at the WW game, Eau Claire came out of the time out with only 4 guys on the floor, then in the middle of the play, a player ran out onto the court to make 5, and the refs completely missed it... Miller called a TO, and talked the refs... and nothing was called... whats the correct ruling???

From what I understood at the game, the refs told Miller that they didn't see the 4 players or the player come off the bench. So a no call was the right call. How they missed the whole thing baffels me but then again I can count to 3 for a 3 second call. A similar situation happened at the UWW/ PLT game a few years ago. PLT had called a time out and made a sub during the time out but all 6 players went out on the court. PLT inbounded the ball and made it to half court before the 6th player ran off. The refs didn't see that one either and another no call. The UWW fans got all over the refs after that and the refs got payback by calling a lot of fouls against the UWW team. I for 1 kept my mouth shut on Sat. I am trainable.

Miller had to make a choice in how to defend against them and it wasn't a matter of him not getting the memo as the WSJ reporter so cleverly suggested.  It was a matter of picking your poisen.   It's not possible to do both against Platteville when they are playing well.

Well, the Hawks have managed to lose the last two times at home to the Pioneers. When do they figure it out.  Last year they decided to go small against them and that didnt work. I thought Dustin Mitchell should have logged more minutes against P'ville, if nothing else, to provide a shotblocking/altering presence.  It was a game they should have won and it could cost them in the long run.

I agree 100%. If Mitchel has played the 5 and King the 4 for more of the game, it would have been a better match up. If you watch the tape, when King & Mitchel were both in, the game was a lot different for Skemp. Also, UWW should have run, run, run as Skemp wasn't able to keep up with them when they did run. He was tired towards the end of the game and was bending over & hanging on to his shorts and breathing heavy...260lbs is a lot to bring up and down the court. Let's hope ,for the UWW fans that Miller watches the tape and creates a game plan that will work on UWP home court where it is always hard to win. Miller did it for UWL and it worked well.

DJ Reese didnt play for the Falcons last night and I am not sure why.

I heard the Reese is done for the year due to grades? Too bad, he hurt UWW with his 3s at crunch time. They could have been the upset team of the WIAC if he was still playing.

UWW was a different team last night from the one that played at La Crosse. I asked a player what the difference was and he said that you sit on a bus for 3 hours and then go play a game not a good situation but the whole conference dose it. He also said if they stay overnight, they play better (Superior). Perry has been saying all along that he would play again this year and from what he said last night, he may be right.

QuoteBy they way Old School, you know that Superior is actually in the United States and not in Canada. Cool  There's bars,fast-food chains, even a shopping mall up here.  Its great. Cheesy

Is that Duluth or Superior, cause I didn't see much when I visited Superior last year (then again, we did get lost, and ended up in Duluth. I know, you have to drive through Superior to get to Duluth...that's how lost we were).

I have pity for all the team's that have to travel today. Weather conditions like this have to be extra hard to pick up a road win.

Basically, If you want to eat anywhere nice, shop anywhere nice, or enjoy a drink in a non-smoking environment, you have to go to Duluth.  You probably didn't see much when you visited Superior last year, because there isn't much.  It's basically Superior, Minnesota.  You came up to watch Oshkosh play?
Having been to Superior for games on 2 occasions, I found the food at the concession stand to be very good. The popcorn comes in a large bag and is real fresh. The local Burger King was also quite nice. Enjoy the local flavor I say.

Badgerwarhawk-

But I will stand firm when I say that Miller is a spaz.  You don't need a further example then his post game comments.

Having watched Miller coach for the past 6 years, I have to say that he has calmed down quite a bit this year. I do believe that the conference warned the coaches to behave this year......may have been their reaction to the UW-Plattville coach rushing the officals after the UWW/UWP game at the end of last year. As for Miller's comments. He had some time to think before he made them so he must have felt strongly about what he was saying. I am sure he was vocal during the game but the officals have learned to block him out based on his reputation. Unless someone has the UWS coache's comments on tape ( I would love to hear them) we may never know what was said. No one got hurt and that's what's important.
