I will be attending the McDaniel/Ursinus game tomorrow. It's McDaniel's homecoming; always a spectacle (especially for a returning player/alumnus). Still probably reveling in last weeks victory I think tomorrow could be a good game...let's hope anyway. For those of you who have never seen a McDaniel home game or homecoming it truly is one of DIII's neatest spectacles. Best of luck to all CC players, parents on the board here, and teams going into the weekend!

without even reading the article on the '04 CC race i am getting chills thinking about it...i was a Jr. at McDaniel at the time and every single week it was like being GLUED to the websites/internet figuring out who won by how many and where they played and who they had next...to this day it is nice to say that we had the opportunity to share a piece of the pie that year, but obviously would've been much sweeter had it been exclusive. That should serve as proof that ALL CC boys can flat out GET IT on the football field, and as far as the underlying message that D-III sports promotes, i can't think of a more competitive conference that can tout such a mass of highly-educated, qualified, hard-working young men.

From McDaniel's press release for this weeks contest: "After two weeks of the season, McDaniel was ranked 22nd in all of Division III in rush defense, allowing just 108 yards on the ground combined in its first two games"
"In 2008, the Green Terror defense recorded just nine sacks for the entire season. Through three games in 2009, the unit has already gotten to the quarterback a CC-best nine times. Mike Ford (Drexel Hill, Pa./Haverford Twp.) leads the conference with 4.5 sacks, forcing the opponents back 52 yards on those plays. Ford is tied for ninth in the nation in sacks per game (1.5) and tied for third in tackles for loss (2.83). The team's nine sacks have totaled 72 negative yards - 34 yards more than any other team in the conference. Conversely, the offensive line has allowed just four sacks a year after giving up 34. "
I'd say things will stack up for one heck of a game on Saturday between the Red Devils and the Terror. It looks like last week Mitchell (who, don't get me wrong, is an outstanding athlete/QB), did some damage on the ground by himself, but only threw the ball 14 times...from the looks of the first 3 games I'd say in all fairness, the Terror D has both of those threats pretty well covered. I have to agree though that "any given Saturday" you just never know. I wish the beer wasn't so cold and the flat-screens weren't so large in Baltimore this Saturday or I'd be heading up to Carlisle to see this matchup.

Gentlemen-
I've been out of the loop for a little while and wanted to check our board for any updates on the happenings of the CC. Any news? I'm seeing a lot of "pick ems'" but no discussion threads. Must have been a quiet week in the hunt for the Boot. I'll look forward to seeing how this week turns out for our Centennial guys!

wow...talk about a jinx...not more than an hour after i posted the below, i read an article in the Carroll County Times that 6 starters are suspected to not participate in Saturday's opener against non-conference foe St. Vincent, due to injuries. Not good news, although it will prepare some younger guys to step up and fill the void. Go Terror!

Just to switch it up a bit (and being excited for my alma mater for the first time since 2005), the Green Terror have a lot of seniors returning and morale has apparently been through the roof since the start of spring workouts. They've replaced yet another Defensive Coordinator, but most importantly I'm excited to see what they can do. All the seniors in the world doesn't make anything automatic, we all know that; but hey, i can be real; things can't get much worse in Westminster. Go Terror!
Good luck too all CC teams this season. By the way, how many MORE teams can the CC add???
have a great year all, looking forward to some good banter on the D3Board...BEST TIME OF YEAR!!!

In regards to Keatings quote, i'd like to ask the fathers out there (obviously MuleDaddy) how you would react if you read similar quotes from your son's HEAD coach...or just any thoughts on the situation.

As a former teammate of Terrorizer and minion of Keating, I am in total agreement with him.
This is NOT the type of news that a Centennial team needs on the FRONT PAGE of D3football.com; moreso not the type of news that a head coach would want on the front page. Mules will without a doubt hand it to the Terror in saturday's meeting, regardless of history. I would love to see the Mules play this year, however my only D3 game, sadly, will be McDaniels homecoming contest in early November. Good luck to all CC teams this week!

As a side note...let's look at the Mules just a few seasons ago when they were plagued, or, as it has turned out, blessed, with nothing but young players, and they had a losing season. Little did we know that those young players that were basically forced to take the field were gaining experience that can only be learned by being thrown to the wolves. With that, let's not just count our eggs before they hatch w/ McDaniel; sure, the days of knocking Dickinson's quarterback unconcious are over, or holding Bernardo of the Mules to under 100 yards in both of his "projected all-american years"; but like Terrorizer24 said, you can't take away from the heart of the players or other staff when they're being led by someone who is out of their prime and has successfully driven the program into the ground. They will rebuild, it happened in the 90s when Keatings first few years were winless, 2-8, and 3-7...things will turn, just as they seem to do for just about every team in this conference...

BTEXPRESS you are spot on....i was recruited by WMC, applied to and accepted to WMC, but name was changed going into my first season in 2003...since that season, things were on the decline, and you are right, it's way too expensive now, standards have risen, and I think administration is perfectly happy with having a sub-par football program if it makes them look stronger academically, to compete w/ the Dickinsons, Gettysburg's, Muhlenburgs, Hopkins, etc...(all academically strong schools)...

People will do anything when enough money is on the table, therefore, WMC was changed to McDaniel, named for William Roberts McDaniel (President, professor, AD, coach, just about every important position at the school, and hefty philanthropist to the school...) It was ignorance from people like "Splik" that also prompted the change...people thought Western MARYLAND College was part of the state's university (Which is in College Park, MD Splik, and no it isn't a big amusement PARK like you may think), also the geographic name confused a lot of people, after all, we're talking Carroll County, MD folks...Terrorizor will tell you all about it...
As for the Mules, haven't been into it as much this year but I will say I've hard nothign but good things from Allentown. I'm still glad I didn't choose to go there, but hey, they're doin alright now. Good luck to all those dads w/ sons out there playing in the NCAAs smartest conference...

i already know he's not inferring that Murph's son transfer to McDaniel, however, although they are also 1-8, McDaniel showed more promise of growth than Juniata...McDaniel started going downhill w/ the name-change...Juniata started going downhill when they decided to pick up a pig-skin...
