URBulldog4Life: You are an embarrassment to the University of Redlands.

I would strongly suggest that you delete your post. You might save yourself a big headache should the general counsel for Cal Lu not take too kindly to your slander. Or maybe you're prepared to back up your claims?

Actually, it's libel.

So.....PC asked you two to write a couple sentences and you blew hard?
BCP will be inviting OB to sit in the press box Saturday, non?
Traditionally, I sit in the student section at home.  As much as I'd welcome OB there, I'm not sure the rest of the Bearcat Bench would.

Me vs. the Bearcat Bench is like a blue whale vs. krill.

OxyBob

Be warned Bob...the Willamette student body isn't afraid to tell "mature" fans from the other team to go screw themselves or call them life long losers because they didn't attend Willamette.   ;)

BTW...be sure to tell all the Oxy players to make sure their valuables are locked up nice and tight when they leave the locker room.  :D

I was going to warn Bob about our bush-league fans in my previous post, but I knew wildcat11 would take care of it for me! ;D

Just providing a public service to our SCIAC brothers.

BTW...it's "Busch" League.  As in the Busch League series of racing, which was seen and known as a 2nd rate racing circuit.  So things people saw as low rent would be casted as "Busch League"......which is a very accurate description for a segment of the Willamette student body fan base.  ;)

ummm....NO

Bush league:
Also see Bushleague. Adj. 1) Below good standards, not good or incorrect. Pitiful, poor, terrible, awful, bad.  Amateur performance. Behavior that doesn't belong in the major leagues.

It is derived from baseball, not auto racing.

Unfortunately Oxy has the annual charity game with Colorado College to drag down SOS even more than the LV annual tilt.

President Obama isn't an Occidental alum.  He started his undergraduate work there but graduated from Columbia.

He is not an Oxy graduate, but he is an alumnus:  "a man or boy who is a former student of a school, college or university"  The New Lexicon Webster's Dictionary of the English Language (1988 ed.)

I am making the trip to Oxy v. Willamette and I think it would be my first choice regardless.  If, however, I had to take my alma mater out of the mix, I'd probably opt for the UWW v. St. Johns match.

Oxy has a definition of Alumnus which the college recognizes,  outside of the dictionary version.  I think it is completion of 10 credits, maybe 12, which is the equivalent of Fresh. year plus one trimester of Soph.
In comparison Graduate requires 35 (I think, it's been a few decades).

I am hoping for a win and rd2 home game against SJU to relive the glorious '85 playoff in which Pat Guthrie called his own number, unbeknownst to the coaching staff and entire O-line who blocked the other direction, with a naked bootleg for the victory clinching TD untouched.

It's too bad that the Linfield people can't just get on the bandwagon, like the rest of the conference has had to in the PAST.  I think those days are over.  Your coach went to OSU and they're having an awesome year!
I don't think we've had to try to scare off Willamette posters in the past.  They used to show up for a day or two and then leave.  I'm glad you guys have stuck around this year and hope you will remain here in the future.  As for your second comment....I think you make a great mistake by lumping all "Linfield People" togeather (if we had done that based on the sole Willamette poster from last year you'd all have no respect at all).  I've seen plenty of Linfield guys jumping on the bandwagon though some of us have done so more realistically than others (I for one wish the Bearcats well but am not yet convinced they can beat the upper tier teams in the D3---but I still hope they do).  Just my 2 cents.
You're right Monrovia Cat -- I stand corrected and apologize to you & other kinder, gentler Linfield fans!   There are just a couple of Linfield posters that make it tough for WU posters and have actually posted that they hope WU falls on it's face to Oxy.

I keep reading about the tough Oxy team, but can't help but notice that WU & Oxy have played 3 common opponents this year.

Menlo:   Oxy W 38-28    WU W 28-3
Cal Lu:  Oxy W-24-21     WU  W 31-17
LaVerne:  Oxy W 40-27  WU W 44-0

In these 3 fb games, Oxy has scored 102, WU 103, but the other number --- opponents scores: Oxy 76, WU 20.  Now, maybe there's something I'm missing, but if you look at this & SOS, WU 113, Oxy 203 and the all important TOP 25 D3football Rankings, WU 6, Oxy 13, then I'm wondering where all this "we're going to whip you" talk is coming from?

Granted, they're just numbers . . .  Someone?

Oxy up 40-6 vs LaVerne in the 3rd... youngsters played the 4th.
Oxy/Cal Lu played in a bizarro thunder storm.  I was at an outdoor event with my kids 20 miles from TOaks and we were not prepared for rain that afternoon.
Menlo, no clue.  I really didn't start paying attention until Redlands.

Throwing some love to the Johnnies.  I'd like to see a rematch of '85 with St Johns coming out to Oxy again.  I remember it well...those were the days.

Does LaVerne still have the Nipple Dome?
aka Circus tents.  That was a freaky place to play.
It's been 20+ yrs since I've been there.

Hmmm . . . so what you're saying is that Oxy needs to not give up big plays to Willamette?

Man I hope the Oxy coaching staff has thought of that.   ;) :D

Of course that strategy didn't work so well on that freaking Whitworth hail mary in the playoffs two years ago.
Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Thanks for the graphic.
It puts into perspective DrKaiser's comment on the HuddLLe interview when asked about the final 4 teams on the board: Cal Lutheran, Wooster, DePauw, Montclair.

Redlands... how could ya?  A pool C was there was the taking.

It happened. Highly doubtful they would have got in even with the other pool c losses.

They were in.  With Ithaca moving to pool A, and Montclair, RPI, Ham-Syd all going down, Redlands with 1 loss (to an undefeated team) would've been in ahead of the many 2 loss teams.  They were at least in the final 10 pool C options before Saturday.

And the flight issue is the same if two So Cal schools get in.  Someone else flies to Oregon. 1 flight.

can anyone get the redlands vs. cal lu game on their computer? I can't get the radio coverage to work! frustrating.

I tried to get it via the net as well with an error msg.

Redlands is blowing their golden opportunity for a pool C shot!
