Any thoughts on New Paltz in the SUNYAC? They are tied for second in the conference. They just beat Cortland on Friday and then Cortland beat Oneonta on Saturday. They play Baruch tonight, should be a good indicator.

Region 3 women's basketball / Tough Week Ahead for Cortland
February 04, 2008, 11:27:00 PM
Look for Cortland to struggle this week. With point guard Maggie Byrne out for 4 weeks with the two wrist injuries, they could struggle at Brockport on Tuesday, and then at New Paltz and Oneonta this weekend.

The NP/Cortland game was much closer then 13 points. NP was up by 2 with about 2 or 3 to play and just couldn't finish, Crtland hit 3 big 3's and then NP started fouolling. NP dominated them across the board for the majority of the game, they shot the ball very poorly and still had a shot at the end. NP will get them at home in two weeks.

We need to get some more chat going here. So much for the East being soft. The East is 16 and 4 against the West, and it looks like it is going to continue this weekend.
Potsdam/Cortland will also be an interesting match-up, and I looking to see if anyone out west can beat Brockport. Maybe Oswego tonight?

You are right, Cortland has not won a game by less then 15, but who have they played? Not one team with a winning record. When they start beating some half way decent teams we will talk. Yes looks good that they are ranked so high, it will look even better for the other conference teams that are going to beat them.

How about the SUNYAC's beating up on the Liberty League so far this season. Both Brockport and Oswego beat RPI, Oswego over Skidmore, Potsdam over St. Lawrence and Clarkson, and New Paltz over Vassar. Looks like the SUNYAC is te best league in the state.

Region 3 women's basketball / Utica's got whole new team.
November 12, 2007, 09:24:29 PM
I was at Utica last week for their scrimmage against SUNY New Paltz, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Utica had 15 or 16 girls in the gym, up from about 8 or 9 from last year. They had two new comers that looked very good, a quick athletic guard and a solid post player. Utica lost the scrimmage by about 10 but things look promising for the Pioneers.
I must say that New Paltz looked good at times as well. The game was very fast paced and high scoring, New Paltz won something like 85-74. I don't think their 4th place finish in the SUNYAC a year ago was a fluke.
I think that both teams will have some good things going for them this year.
