I can tell you that the Haskell kids had a once in a lifetime experience apart from the The game had more meaning than scheduling a cream puff.  Believe me, I complained about the game when it was first scheduled, after the game and after learning about the experience they had, it was worth it.

I think that Redlands handled it with dignity and sportsmanship.

Oh, give me a break. Trinity dropped out and Redlands needed a game. The Soboba tribe picked up Haskell's entire tab. It cost Redlands nothing. Quit making it sound like it was a lifelong dream sponsored by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

I think even the poets could have beaten Haskell Indian Nation, Menlo, Lewis and Clark......Although playing Carthage was a good experience... How how 4th in the Sciac losing by a touchdown to a non-west team (if it wasn't our first game...and there third, i say we come out with a win).

I would rather watch two flies f**k than watch soccer
Dude, nice porn habit . . . I guess whatever floats your boat.

Bobcat, I like the way you express yourself. It's pithy yet degenerate.

Can't wait to see where out of season talk turns to

By that response, I have to know what law schools you've applied to.  Excellent game, btw.  You should download our archive to play for your grandkids.  www.oxybroadcast.com.

haha although the law interests me my passion is in the health field... I hopefully will be kicking the MCATS butt this spring then making my way to med-school.. (as long as I stop posting message on d3football when I'm in class)

Thank you for the link to the archive... I'll be downloading it as soon as our game comes up..and from how enertaining I hear the announcers are I'm sure it will be a good one to keep. :)

The Oxy-Whittier rivalry dates back to 1895. I believe Oxy leads the all-time series 52-43, with 2 ties.

I noticed that you were in there on defense at the end of the game. Showoff.

Yes but I was referring specifically the the record since " the shoes" have been around... you didn't happen to be around when they were stolen were you? ;)

I have been begging to play defense for four years, luckily I only got a couple plays in my career and only one incomplete pass came to me.. so I can continue to feed my imagination that I could have done it...

I'm interested in the "Multiple Stack" defense coach Fazio uses..does redlands use the 4-4 version? or a hybrid?  Seems to work well..

They play with anywhere from 12-15 guys on the field at one time effectively running the first 5-5-5 defense.... or so it seems.

I don't know why I don't remember this off the top of my head, possibly because that game was a blurr but I believe Redlands runs a variation of the 3-4, sometimes a 3-3 stack... similar to the defense oxy and cal lu are running.... they have a tendency to put a fair amount of weight on there DB's shoulders as they bring pressure from everywhere (which can cause fits for O-lines because every down you have to identify at least one blitzer)...not quite as much pressure as the 3rd down 11 men on the line look Oxy likes to give but not sitting back as much as Cal Lu..... (of course this is when they only have 11 on the field)

97 passes between the two teams btw...

How come d3.com couldn't show the poets some love?

In what way? We certainly gave Whittier some love in the preseason, when we picked them to go 5-4 overall, 4-2 in conference. You guys almost made it!

I wanted a big picture of Johnny Poet holding up "the shoes" pasted on the front page so I could print it out for my coaches office. ;) is that to much to ask....

Hey Scurlock, time to come clean on that "listed at 5'11" deal.

Concerning football talent here, you also have to consider Azusa Pacific offering D-I scholarships.

haha surprisingly althought I don't believe it was accurate it wasn't necessarily a lie... we took about .5 seconds per person to do height and weight... I felt tall that day....
I felt about 10 feet tall saturday night

We listed your score and details on the front page on Saturday. Saturday night we featured the broadcast of the game front and center. What else were you looking for?

hmm I've noticed we have some stat guru's on the board here so here's a challenge question for you (don't know if you can even look this up)... Longest game played in division III?... The WC vs Oxy game was defiantly the longest game I've played at 3 hours and 40 minutes....

the longest game i've ever watched was Poets v Redlands this season. I think it lasted about 14 hours..or so it seemed.  ;)

Whittier played Redlands this season?.... no no that game got cancelled because of the fires... you must be mistaken ;)

Hmm OB.. Whittier is now losing by 5 games in a series that has been going on for 70 years or so... Now that my poets have got hold of the shoes (and possibly have drank celebratory ale out of them) we plan on being very stingy with them.

As far as the Redlands vs Johnnie game the SCIAC is going home with some respect for Cali and west coast football....  that defense was the toughest defense I've played against in four years.

Tooth- how come the oxy paper couldn't mention my 2 play defensive debut with 10 seconds like or so.... haha now that was something I wont forget.

Nice. Could have made it shorter. Simply "Cal Lu screws itself and Oxy piles on in a strange way to screw Cal Lu once again"  ;D ;D ;D

I would rather chalk it up as Whittier finally finds a way to stick it to Cal Lu (whom kicked our ass for four years I know)

Let's not pick on the short guys.  Eddie LeBaron did pretty well at 5'7.

Dear Gray Fox:

So I beleive I'm officially allowed to post since I'm now finished with my career, unless the poets recieved an at large bid I don't know about??... OxyBob you seem to be reaching somewhat of a celebrity status because I was informed after we spoke  "that was oxybob" haha

That's Mr. OxyBob to you, whippersnapper.

Whittier College has taught me how to spell "believe" btw

Nice save, but you were only 1-for-2. You are no longer dealing with the Oxy secondary. Still happy you logged on?

OxyBob

Well MR. OxyBob Sir I sense a fair amount of bitterness in that response...understandable. ;)... I'm happy I logged in given that I've been threatening my computer screen at times over the past two years having just to watch.

As for next years QB I expect big things from Castenada... has one of the better arms I've seen.

Thank you for the good wishes although I don't know if my mind/body believes that football season is over...forever...so I'll continue in my state of ignorance is bliss.

So anyone on the board contemplating making their way to the Bulldog vs Johnny game?

Thank you for the support this year Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox, wish you guys could have been around for all four :).

Good luck to Redlands in representing the SCIAC... Given how my body felt after that game (not to mention my pride) I'm sure you're coming home with the W...good season
