I got to listen to a bit of the game in the car today.  Sounded like a battle!  It was quite nice to have the game on the radio as to not be tethered to a computer.  Congrats to Bethel.

So far, Bethel hasn't needed a "kicking game" to win.

I'd bet a kicking game won't be a deciding factor against the Purple Raiders, either.

FYI:  In three playoff games, Ryan, Keith and Pat together have predicted that Bethel would lose.....a total of nine predictions between them and seven predictions that Bethel would lose.

No one (save for OAS) thought the Johnnies could beat Mount in 2003, either.  We saw what happened there...

OAS did take in the Bethel/Tommie game.    His web broadcast with Pat supplanted by the radio coverage of game by local CBS affiliate.

L. Beane,
Nice cameo on the Channel 9 news.

When the reporter asked you about the weather conditions, I was disappointed that you didn't throw out the favorite quote from Fins,
"there is no such thing as bad weather,in the era of hybrid fabric, there are simply poor wardrobe choices"  :D

Damn.   they edited out the best part.   Having no purple, gold or blue on,    FOX9 reporter asks me who I'm rooting for to which I replied, " Go Johnnies!"

In Johnnie news:

St. John's to install lights at Clemens Stadium.

Sorry if I offended anyone with this post  ::)

Clemens Stadium now a wonderfullyscenic spot for Friday night  high school football playoff games.      Maybe even the occasional high school  nonconference game.

   Recruiting, recruiting, recruiting ....

Great move by SJU.     Now let's get an indoor hockey rink on campus.

Thanks for the clarification sfury.  I was just using the record as others had stated without double checking.  6-6 says even more since Bethel first beat SJU in 1999.  The Royals have figured out the formula and have much to be proud of.  The Bethel posters need not be so defensive or cynical.  They are getting honest to goodness props for an extended period of excellent play against 1 of D3's premier programs.

In other news, here is a pic of VOJ.  Can someone embiggen this?  Look closely, our pal VOJ had a little "accident" at the tailgate party Saturday morning and LBean makes a surprise celebrity appearance in the background.  Many thanks to TimeforChange2 for making an appearance.  Good to see you too John!

Happened to have ESPN 1500 on the radio yesterday around 5 PM.     Our friend Trickster called in.     The guys on the radio seemed very familiar with Trkster.      And had very nice things to say about him.     it was great to see him at the Bethel game.   And the story about his hound  taking a dump on their field in front of Steve Johnson?    Priceless.

Asshole alert

Sartell tops St. Thomas Academy 31-29!

Field goal with 7 seconds left.  The last 5 minutes of that game were unbelievable!

Back to the Prep Bowl for the Sabres!!!

I'm in Stephen Argyle country out here. Go Storm.

Nothing against the folks who live there.    but isn't Grygla in that neck of the woods?     Read the following bathroom graffiti there many years ago:    Grygla - the jumping off place.

Didn't seem that desolate to me.

I DO claim ignorance, as some of you hypothesized. I'm guessing St. Benedict's is an all women institution?

Two campuses, one education.  Classes are co-ed.  Generally, the departments are on one campus or the other (i.e. the chemistry department is located at CSB, the biology department at SJU).  Student housing is the one thing that is not co-ed, at least as far and the rules go.

What kind of backwards, old-fashioned, no-fun campus are they running up in collegeville?  Well at least you can drink out of red cups in the parking lots....

Nothing is more magical and meaningful, and so full of love,  than the births of our children.     But apart from that, many Johnnies will tell you the best time of our lives were our years at SJU.    The Bennies play a big part in that.

Bring back the Diamond formation.  That was extremely effective last year against Carleton (and a couple other late season opponents in 2008), then the offense used it for like 1 series in the 1st half of the Whitewater game and never again.  It was dynamite.

Dens: Hamm's is only found in cans.  Turdy paks in the Twin Cities and usually just cases in outstate MN.  Maybe our esteemed Mayor will weigh in with his thoughts.  Recycling doesn't really happen at the Johnnie tailgate party.  There are cans, bottles, disposables, garbage, packing supplies, etc. and it really is a free for all once the libations start to flow (hot cider, beer, bloody marys, Kool-Aid, etc).  TDT would be glad to put you in charge if you were to arrive in Collegeville on December 5th.  However, if Red Hot Bennie (now known self-described as Red Hot and Green) shows up she may start the Reduce Reuse Recycle campaign.

Actually, there is recycling at the tailgate.     there are big green recycling bins on the other side of the annex.

Fins: How was hunting?  Where are the pics?

Here you are...

Sunday morning

Sunday afternoon

+K all around for an undefeated season and a successful hunt.
And I, too, miss The White Silly.

Fins, tell Charlie nice shot and congratulations.    Hope to see you Sat. in the skybox.

Winterhawk:  You are a Tommie (and a PP newbie) so I don't expect you to understand this, the point of my post was that it indeed was a JOKE.  Veek understands this and was just doing his usual stoke the fire.  Relax, take a valium, and come back tomorrow.

Your pithy comments are hilarious and endlessly entertaining.     And you're a good writer.    Keep 'em coming.

Plus, Veek is the perfect foil.      You two are quite a team.

I think the board is big enough for some humor in addition to the football banter that makes up  about  85 to 90% of the posts.

Just making sure that I heard it correctly.  The tailgate festivities will be at hubert's this saturday before the auggie tech game??

That's correct... read all about it at www.JohnnieFootball.com
Check out the bartender at Hubie's, middle aged woman, attractive,...LBean's former high school throb...took her on one date...to a Twins game.
Go Johnnie's, I'm heading north in 3,2,1...

Thanks for the follow up fellas.  I will definitely keep a weather eye out for the attractive bartender.  For some reason the beer just tastes better when it comes from someone easy on the eyes.

Bartender?    And then some.    She owns the place with her husband.     I can't make it tomorrow so TDT will keep an eye on Jody  for me.

And make sure you try Hubert's brats.    Fantastic.     Right up there with what sju56321 brings up from Chicago.     Have fun.     Go Johnnies.

The Tommies have got those poster/schedules up all over Highland.  I'd love to get some SJU stickers to put on them.

Did anybody see Brewster dig something out of his lip at the end of the game?  I was watching on TV and in the final seconds, just as he started going onto  the field I saw him dig into his lip with his finger.  As a former tobacco chewer I couldn't help but think he had a little dip or a bandit action going on.

Saw it.   Thought the same thing.

FYI: TDT called an audible with LBean for Saturday's festivities.  Hint hint look for "Scouting the Auggies" on Tuesday....

105: Tracy is the Tommies man now.  2 straight starts.  He is the better QB hands down.  Eerily reminiscent of Mr. Ryan Keating.  I sure hope the Johnnies don't run into USTD in the playoffs.  This Tommies team beats SJU 7 or 8 out of 10 times in my expert opinion...

Interesting thing, USTd football under Caruso.     If this was done before, then I missed it.    But I see on Snelling Ave.  (closest to Macalester but still near the USTd campus) and the trendy Grand Ave. area, this also in St. Paul,  USTd football posters in business windows.    Lists the schedule and some photos.    Good size.      Get this.   Even my barber has one in her window.    She barely speaks English (and a great barber).   Someone steamrolled her into putting one up.     So they are really pushing their brand.

Re sjusection 105 last two posts re Gopher football.  Right on.    Last night on TV, every time (at least during second half when I tuned in)  the camera panned to Gopher coach Brewster,  he looked lost.    Dazed and confused.    I'm not sure he can coach or recruit.

Remember the da [Chicago]  Bears skit  from Saturday Night Live several years ago  with Chris Farley and George Wendt (Norm) and a couple others?   Sitting around a table talking in the exaggerated Chicago accent?     did you see on the Gopher telecast last night the guy with slicked  back dark hair, white shirt and dark tie, sunglasses, maybe even a pencil-thin mustache,  in the blue sweater with "Bears" in large letters across the chest?      Dead ringer for one of those characters.      Hilarious.   Best part of the game.

1. Linfield 6-0 7-0
2. Central (Iowa) 8-0 8-0
3. St. John's (Minnesota) 8-0 8-0
4. Wisconsin-Whitewater 5-0 7-0
5. Monmouth 8-0 8-0
6. St. Thomas (Minnesota) 6-1 6-1
7. Coe 6-1 6-1
8. Occidental 5-1 5-1
9. Cal Lutheran 5-1 5-1
10. Wisconsin-Stevens Point 4-1 5-2

Ok, so if UWW beats UWSP-will they jump SJU and Central and Linfield? And will Central drop if UWW beats UWSP?

I could see that happening...here is a scary thought...SJU goes 10-0 but because of some quirky formula they are on the road at Monmouth...

At this point we need to find a Shelby Mustang and take a road trip  ;)

Monmouth head coach Steve Bell a Bemidji State grad.

Only 1380 students.   And 55% are female.    Didn't see any farm animals on the website so I assume the remaining 45% are male.

Very insightful Veek.  Thank you kindly for that astute analysis.  Your polish and grandaur are 2nd only to that of our esteemed Mayor.  BTW: Thanks for staying for the entire game on Saturday.  Was it a weird feeling not being halfway to The Falls with 7 mins to go in the 4th qtr?  Please advise at your convenience.

FYI:

TDT and LBean will be tailgating outside of TCF Bank Stadium on Saturday before the Gophers v. Michigan State game at 7pm.  If anyone would like to join us please let us know.  Tickets prices are falling precipitiously (and good seats are readily available on the secondary market) after the last 2 drubbing for the Gophers, but Saturday night on the Univ. of MN campus should be rockin' and rollin'!!!

Plus, it's Halloween.    Can't beat coeds in costumes.

FYI Veek: Murses (Man-Purses) are the wave of the future...

Maybe you weren't aware, but Veek is HUGE on the craft fair circuit.  You think he doesn't know about man purses?  Those things have whole tables devoted to the finest hand-made man purses in Central Minnesota.

You are really on your A game this week.  You obviously forget whose VIP seats you sat in this past Saturday.

FYI, being in charge of my local Lion's club food booth for two consecutive years at the Little Falls Arts & Crafts Fair hardly makes me an expert on the products that are offered but I can assure you that I have never seen murses there.

You are so quick to defend TDT, however, that it wouldn't surprise me if he had you carry his murse this weekend.  You can use it to sit on the hill or wherever it is that you will be seated because I know you won't be 4 rows down on the 50 yard line.

TC, you're covered.    Plenty of room this Sat. in the Finsleft Executive Skybox.     but it's always 10-15 degrees cooler up there than the stands.
