11-7 Trinity is the final.

All 9 in the Trinity lineup had at least a hit.  Trinity also stole 7 bases.  You have to question the pitching decisions though, starting Fink and then burning through 3 other arms.

OU had their fair share of hits too and with 3 errors on each side there were alot of baserunners in the game.

Looking like a barn-burner so far, Trinity's up 4-3 in the bottom of the 2nd.  Jackson just tripled.

In regards to Jones being the offensive player of the year, wouldn't Bruce Maxwell from BSC deserve some consideration too?  All his numbers are right there with Evan but his BA is 50 points less...

Trinity is up 5-0.  Looks like a sloppy game for McMurry so far.

Andrew Lawson is a senior that was converted into a pitcher last year.  In the past he's seen playing time at all of the infield spots.

There's no telling if the change in lineup is for discipline, sickness, or rest.  This trip to Abilene is always an adventure.

It is possible to split the conference games up evenly with every team having 10 home games and 10 road games... just did the math.

I still don't know if the Hendrix games are a must must win for Trinity, but the fact that we are even addressing that at this point in the season is crazy.

Parity is good.  My question is whether yall think the previous years' bottom tier teams are getting that much better, or if the historically strong teams of late are getting worse?  And why either way?

The logic behind Trinity's schedule is simple.  If you get an opportunity to play a D1 team (especially one with the notariety of Notre Dame), you take it no matter how it fits into your schedule.  How many other D3 teams are there around the country that play that high of caliber D1 team this season?

As for who to throw, that is a tough decision.

Obviously you want to win SCAC games, especially if the season continues with the parity we are seeing early.  But, how awesome would it be to tell recruits that you played and possibly beat Notre Dame.  Think of what that could do for the program.  Plus, if you embarrass yourself against Notre Dame then you probably don't get an opportunity like that again from any other big name programs.

I honestly think it's going to come down to Trinity's conference record at the time.  If the Millsaps games are absolutely must wins, then Bronson should pitch.

Coach Scannell has a tough decision on his hands.

Rhodes is pulling out all the stops in order to try to make it into a regional, but it seems that alot of people think Millsaps is more deserving of a South Region Playoff spot, at least according to D3baseball's latest poll.

Is there anyone out there that can fully explain how at large berths into a regional work?  What do Pool B and Pool C mean?

DePauw over Austin in 3 games
Millsaps over Rhodes
Southwestern over Centre
Trinity over Oglethorpe

I won't be there, but hopefully i'll be able to keep up with the video and livestats.  I will be in San Antonio this weekend for the Millsaps series though!

Big west region double header in San Antonio today between Mary Hardin Baylor and Trinity starting at 4.  If Trinity can pull off a sweep it should up their chance at a possible at large bid.

It will be interesting to see who each team decides to start on the mound.  UMHB has a conference series this weekend with Concordia I believe, and Trinity has 4 heated games against Millsaps starting Friday.

It might be an offensive explosion today!

Trinity dropped the second game of the double header 7-5.  Brian Oates had a shaky first inning but then dominated.  I think he had at least 10 K's in his 6+ innings.  Evan Jones and Jeff Claydon hit homeruns for the Tigers but it wasn't enough.

The two teams will meet for one last game tomorrow night in San Antonio.

Trinity wins the first game of a double header over Concordia 7-1.  Evan Bronson pitched a CG 4 hitter, striking out 5.  A couple of freshman hit homeruns, Kevin Calbick and John Prato-Mathews.  Calbick went 4-4 in his collegiate debut.

The second game will have an audio broadcast as well:

Great start for the Tigers!

quick scheduling note...

Trinity games against Concordia this weekend have been moved due to severe weather.  They are planning on 2 games in Austin Sunday and then a single game in San Antonio Monday.  I don't know the times yet...

Yes, both Trinity and Millsaps have pitching depth, but I think what it will come down to is how both teams perform offensively.

Millsaps is already showing so far at least that they have one of the most potent offenses in D3 baseball, again.  It is amazing that year after year they graduate key position players, only to have someone waiting in the wings to fill the gap (i.e. Quinn Salmon).  I think that they have to have the edge in the SCAC West until Trinity or another team proves otherwise.

I can't wait to see how the Trinity bats swing it in Austin on Friday!
